  1. hi there, just wondering if you can help me, recently from a cold start in the morning or late evening when car has been left my fabia VRS engine makes a loud knocking noise which is different to its normal engine diesel knock, the noise is only there once you put your foot on the clutch and let it idle, you take your foot off again and the engine goes back to its normal note. there is a clear difference when the clutch is put down and lifted up. you can then drive for a minute and then stop and retry and noise is completly gone? any ideas???
  2. hi, i have a standard 2005 fabia vrs 1.9 tdi, i was just wondering i want to put my ipod in my car and connect it up to the radio so i can play it through the car speakers, i have the standard sympathy cd player in my car as supplied when new, does anyone know what i can do to connect a ipod to the car? does skoda do a ice link kit for radio and where does it go? cheers
  3. no misfire no? just a discreet imbalance intermittantly .. . . .
  4. this would definately cause this? can you explain more on this fix and whats happening with the mounts?
  5. over the last few week my car has developed an intermittant problem with the engine at idle, my fabia vrs is a 05 reg with 30k on the clock, when driven and then stop to park up and idle you can feel the engine rocking through the drivers seat, before the engine was quite smooth but intermitantly now you can feel the engine through the car like its off balance. the car has been at the dealership local to me for 3 days now and they have found nothng, the best way to describe the problem is the car rocks like on a windy day but on a still day. the rocking is not vigurous but you can feel the imbalance through the drivers seat. just wondering if anybody elses fabia vrs does this and if anyone knows what might be up with it as the dealer is unsure and cannot even produce the fault, unfortunately the fault is intermittant and not there all the time but when it does do it you can feel it. if its dual mass flywheel surely the imbalance would be there all the time ? can anybody help?
  6. does anyone elses fabia vrs suffer from noisey transmission? my fabia 1.9 vrs is a 05 plate and i bought the car pre-reg. my gearbox when i had it was terrible and skoda had to replace it under warranty as there was swarf in box and a bearing had gone, they fitted a new box 7 months ago and ive done 7,000 miles with the new box. unfortunately when i collected the car the box was still whining but in different gears this time, the box had been changed as you could see the wax on it from the factory/cleaness of it. i thought maybe this would calm down but box still whistling/whining as ever. it only whines/whistles in 5th and 6th gear at about 40-50 mph and only at low revs 1500-2000.... you then can accelerate through this and noise goes away until you slow down in same gear and acclerate again. does anyone elses tranmission whistle/whine in gear?????? just worried as warranty out soon and dealer has already but a new box in it.... can anyone explain this noise??? gearbox components winding up/down??? cheers guys
  7. did you ever get the box fixed mate? for the whining noise???
  8. hi, when you select gear in my 05 fabia vrs you used to hear the reserc motor kick in , i have just recently had a new gearbox fitted and since then this feature doesnt work, just wondering is there something i can do or would it have to go back to the dealership to be done? how does it work? how is the reserc connected to the reverse gear? can anyone help?
  9. got full report today from skoda tech themselves, 2nd and 3rd gear bearings gone, marked syncos and forks, debris in oil in gearbox. skoda have authorised a new gearbox!

  11. just a update to my original thread. my car has been with my local dealer for 3 days now and skoda technical have inspected gearbox. they have found a fault with the 2nd gear bearing in my box and it has caused further complications within the box. skoda are now in the process of overhauling box and replacing the damaged parts. my friend also has a fabia vrs on a 53 plate and his makes the same noise as mine did, in 2nd a loud whistle/whine can be heard. maybe a bit too much pressure from the torque on the box. he will be contacting skoda as well. so it appears this is a fault as such and we should all be aware of it.

  13. hi there, need some advice really, i have a 05 plate fabia vrs 1.9 pd130, i have now done just over 20k and for the last few thousand miles my gearbox has developed a whining noise. the most notice whine i can hear is in 2nd gear and accelerating through the revs and not changing for a awhile, then change to 3rd and the noise stops, the noise is always there but sometimes more intermittantly worse times than others. i find when the car is warm and the outiside temp is warm i can get the noise to go louder. i wondering could it be the bearings in the box. also i get a gearbox/diff noise on overrun when slowing down in 3rd and 4th , my car has been examined by skoda techical and will be having the gearbox out of my car week after next , they are going to inspect for any wear or abnormalities in the box, just wondering from reading on here if anyone has the same problems and if anything has ever been done to fix this problem. it may be characteristics of the vw box across the range? i don't know?. any advice will be good.
  14. hi there, ive been getting a dry rattle sound from my engine area from cold when changing gear and accelerating. when car warm noise goes, really bugging me, seems when car gets perpelled (thrusted) gear change caused speed diff as well as accelerating.
  15. everything jason wrote in his thread is completly true, we should be pleased that we have people like him on this forum who can actually state facts about the ford and vag group vehicles as they use the 1.9 pd130 across the audi, skoda, seat, ford galaxy and vw range. the recall for the ford is absoulutly genuine and if ford have no faith in the sept 2003 batch of vag flywheels then why should skoda, vag make parts for ford motor company. if anyone is having potential problems with the flywheel on the 1.9 pd 130 engine then this information should help as a bit of backup, lets see some more helpful comments like this, thanks for the info jason!
