This is really helpful as I've started to experience a violent intermittent shudder in 2nd when pulling from low speed in traffic on my 7 speed 1.6 with 26,000 miles. I'm also getting a speaking into 4th sometimes. It's in for a service on Friday so what should I be saying as warranty ends this month?

Have moved from a 1.6 CR manual to 1.6 CR DSG. Covered 30K in manual daily commute and leisure over very heavy city traffic, A and B roads. This averaged long term between 48 and 55 MPG. 2K into the DSG in identical conditions and this seems to be getting between 48 and 52 MPG. The small loss of MPG is more than made up by the utter pleasure of driving it. The DSG is so sweet !! Has anyone has any advice on how to squeze the most MPG from a DSG? Cheers

I've now had my 1.6 CR 105 for a year now and completed just over 20K , mostly a 50 mile daily commute in mixed traffic. I've experienced the regen. shakes etc and accept it's just normal for the engine. Nothing seems the affect it, although I've noticed it occurs more frequently when driven very gently. The car is great (apart from the weak paint) and I average about 55 mpg. If it wasn't for the significant city element of the commute the average would be easily over 60 mpg.

I've had my octavia since may and can't believe how the paint scratches. The slightest rub by anything leaves a very visible scratch which makes me wonder what its going to look like in in 3 years time. Is this common, because I love the car?

I've certainly never owned a car that chips as easily as my 10 plate Octavia. It seems to be the only weak area of the car. :'(

Thanks for the responses.I took the car to another Skoda approved bodyshop who told me that this seemed to have been caused by someone pushing upwards into the roof above the interior light fitting. There's certainly no evidence of the fitting or roof lining being tampered with and I can understand why there's a reluctance to consider the issue as anything could have happened to the car in its first year of ownership. They were also advised me to speak to the dealer to try and resolve with a potential smart repair.

I paid part exchange and cash. I've tried to take a pic of the mark, but this is difficult due to the colour and sunlight on the roof. It's one of those things best seen with the naked eye. I'm not sure it's bad enough to reject. However, had I have spotted it I wouldn't have bought it.

I'm a new Skoda owner on my 3rd week of owning a 10 plate Octavia Elegance 1.6 CR. I love everything about this car but during its first wash I noticed a small raised area / bump / crease on the roof which is directly above the rear passenger interior light. I am disappointed that I missed this blemish before the purchase and have been unhappy about the dealers response, which was an instant "Skoda warranty wont cover this!!!" This seems reasonably clear that the issue has not been caused by a push from inside the car. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice? Cheers
