  1. sorry im not sure what a maf might be craig
  2. hello all, I have had my fabia mk1 vrs serviced and mot'd in december £850 she came back new tyres bushes wishbone etc and had the glowplugs done, Since then ive dropped from avg of 45-60 mpg depending on the journey to 20-30 mpg. Is there any reason for this. A 20 mile trip to work is costing me about £15 aday as apposed to £15 per week before the mot. Frankly she is bleeding me dry and im stuck for what to do. I have done 230 so far this month and spent £90 in fuel. Im driving like something of an old man and coasting where the roads allow just to save that little bit more. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance Craig
  3. Would that b a throttle position sensor? Is that likely to wear with no warming and is it a costly job
  4. It's starts normally and turns off normally I have a flashing glow plug light and engine management light on but these came on a while after the fault. It's like there's cruise control without the stalk it's the best way to describe it. She starts and stops normally on the turn of a key
  5. Yeah the mechanic mentioned it but it didn't occur until I was away from the garage now it's constant. It's going back there Monday but he has already had a look and can't find anything untoward
  6. Also I must add I don't have my foot on the accelerator to drive once she gets to the right revs and she will travel miles like this
  7. Hello all just had my 56 plate serviced and mot'd a few bushes and a couple of tyres later she passed. She came back with a new fault, she holds whatever revs I push the pedal. she will then idle on the redline, if I push in the clutch it will kill the revs for a moment then they will race again. Nothing is showing on diagnostics and it seems as tho the car has some Ill will towered me as she goes to pull away at junctions and holds herself on hills without the hand brake. She had her glow plugs replaced and the dashboard reset through a computer. I have no idea what is wrong but am annoyed at paying £500 for the work to have an undrivable car on her return. Please help at my wits end! Craig
  8. They were Saunders Abbott in Sidcup. It's still on going I did pay with card but don't know the next steps. Thanks for the advice
  9. Hey all. I was wanting to put a lime green stripe or tel or different widths over the drivers side of the car to make her stand out. My vrs is met black fabia mk1 and since she had her plates nicked recently I wanted to separate her from a possible twin. Does anyone have any ideas where I can acquire these?? Thanks Craig
  10. Hello all this is my 1st post but have read a number of yours for lots of good advice. I recently got the flashing coil on my dash along with the orange engine management light plugged in my vag com and read intemitant brake switch and int. Abs fault. Took my fabia vrs to my local dealer and explained my vagcom findings, they called me back later and said it would be £8 plus half hour labour. When I went to collect the car they told me it was now £115! Shocked I Asked for a breakdown as it's not what I was quoted. They said that it was £40 to plug her into a vagcom to double check, £8 for the part, £40 labour and 10% cleanliness fee for a plastic cover to be put on the seat to keep it clean. I did explain that I had already done q vagcom and told them ofthis and that I wasn't aware another one was being done. To which the response was " oh didn't we tell you, never mind it's done now and that's the price". It all seemed a little rude and blazay and to rub salt into the wound the abs light came back on the following morning. I've called them back only to get a rude manager tell me I would have to pay to have it looked it " nothing is free " apparently. I am now waiting on Skoda hq to call me back. Are Skoda garages normally like this? Is there anything else I can do. Thank you for your time in reading this long post. Craig
