  1. See my thread over on the project thread. I used a Bissel with their solution and it pulled a lot out. But there are still faint grey stains on the cream /grey trim. Not infallible but a lot easier than messing with hog clips!
  2. low revs means little work. In gear for the same decline means higher revs and more energy lost due to heat, noise etc Autumn doesn't help. More people back at work, more stop start, denser cooler air so more drag. Does the anti waxing chemicals in Winter diesel affect fuel economy?
  3. If there is zero fuel, why does the engine keep combusting?
  4. Forgot to say decay speed in neutral approaching a slower speed zone, but you'll need to anticipate. Your theory doesn't bear up against my stats when I used to do this. Always drive in warm summer air is another one ;-)
  5. Cruise in neutral down hills, but make sure you keep your speed up and consistent. Got 10% extra when commuting through the Cotswolds.
  6. If you check the project forum, you'll see why I really like my car again. A small amount of well planned money can get it back to a great mechanical and cosmetic condition. Yes it will cost, but far less than £xxx pcm for the next three years on a PCP or loan. Great post PB :-)
  7. Assume pulleys and wires not fooked (like mine were last year)?
  8. Any difference with running on new oil? You dirty man!
  9. I thought fellow brisky Tech1e fitted them?
  10. Chap - got a link? I checked your content via the user CP and can't see anything. Ta muchly BR
  11. Gumtree are based in Richmond opposite the train station in serviced offices. They're all sales people generating revenue for ad space. As you say, they don't deliver cars ;-)
  12. Civic 2.2D Type S almost made my look at short list last month as did the C30. Funny I also considered the RX8 for a while.
  13. Erm I'd get it looked at sooner. If the patient is ill, treat sooner and don't make it fatal. :-)
  14. DH - was thinking retro or black/silver without the green. Jars - the plastic corner of the bumper you highlighted is a mil or two proud but all that appears to be bonded with glue to tough to nail down just a corner. Likely down to the prior prang on the car. Update: Cam position sensor changed today and its much better. Is it me or does it seem a tiny bit more powerful now too? So apart from badges and needing a good wash, I appear to have a well-sorted motor

  16. Today it went in a for a service, MoT and brake work. I don't care that to some it's a cheap bag of bolts with a Skoda badge on the front and runs on oil, but now I have no dents, better than new alloys, new tyres, new brakes, new oil, cleaned seats and carpets AND it now barely smokes... The drive home from the garage today makes it feel, goes and looks like a nearly-new car. Burning people off at the lights was a hoot! But I can no longer make people "eat my smoke" hehe! I have had a hard start issue for the past two years which via ODB came up as a cam sensor. This will be fitted on Wednesday. Also the original 2004 battery is at 72% design capacity so will need to be changed in due course.
  17. B*stards. Someone did this to me on my first ever MoT. I think it can be a way of extracting more money out of you for what is, as you say, an easy fix. Why not just tweak and set it, then pass the check? Today's work featured new front/rear pads, front discs, wipers, few bulbs, new oil...Plus the V12 Evo Hankooks fitted last week = My Furby feeling fresh and liked it used to. Very little smoke too!! Oh and yes it did pass. Back in Wednesday to fit a cam sensor, which should hopefully fix the hard start issue. Battery is 8 years old and at 72% design capacity, so I will need to address that too.
  18. Alfa 147. Or Mito, which is drop-dead sexy :p Leon or Ibiza FR BMW 1 - maybe?
  19. Mine is in today for test and service. New pads and discs required for the front as I suspected but no other reported issues :-)
  20. Wet vacced seats and carpets today using the Bissell. Got four bucket loads of crud, but it didn't lift out some of the spot-soiling. Any ideas? Though perhaps an oxygen-based bleach cleaner would attack if its an organic compound.
  21. Quite a few threads on this over the past two or three weeks. Have you looked?
  22. Hi guys! Over on the Project forum, I'm keeping a journal of what's happening to my Furby here (click link) We opted not to stick the rotton wheel badges back on today... Now I have to i) find out what badge options are out there and ii) decide which to go for. Front, rear and wheel need doing. But If I change, do I get really pedantic changing the steering wheel and engine cover for consistency!? Please please feel free to bung suggestions my way and post photos of yours, whilst I go off and look online. Cheers N
