  1. So fitting a genuine VAG Bluetooth kit would invalidate my warranty?
  2. So it is just a coding issue, not the version of Columbus tat I have is unable to display it on ? Thanks
  3. I have now got Columbus and OEM Bluetooth fitted to my 2011 Octavia vRS. I have the Telephone options in the Maxidot, but no option for the Navigation (as I would really like to have the Symbols appear on the Maxidot screen) The Columbus HW Version is H11 and the SW Version is 3984 Is anyone able to tell me if this is possible and is just a coding issue. Everything works fine on the Columbus Screen so it's not the end of the world, but would be a nice to have. Your expert knowledge is appreciated. Colin
  4. I only watched it after seeing Dara O'Briain mentioning it at the end of one of his shows on Comedy Central. The film was utter rubbish though, not 1 of John Cusack's finest hours !! Do I have to pose a question now??
  5. I second the link to a Nilfisk. I have that very one, the only thing I would say is the Nilfisk Auto Wash is not very thick when it comes out of the Lance. I am probably not mixing it correctly but am filling it about 5 parts water to 1 part Wash. The patio cleaner however is fantastic !!
  6. Can anyone recommend someone to fit and code the following to my Octavia 2011 with Columbus. The link to the eBay item is shown below: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&item=270998919698&nma=true&rt=nc&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D270998919698%26_rdc%3D1&si=14McNwmGbjLHyvveKErb%252BBgkckI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc I could have a go myself but I would just make an arse of it and ruin my car / stereo / bluetooth kit etc?? I would prefer someone local who is also able to code it properly as well, but am willing to travel if required. I can book it into Shark in about 2 weeks time, but would prefer it sooner rather than later. I am in Tidworth, so within 30-40 miles of that would be great.
  7. If you didn't get your answer then I changed my HU in my 2011 VRs from the Bolero to the Columbus and bought the 'Octavia Trim for Navigation Surround' from SkodaParts.com> http://www.skodaparts.com/product/octavia-trim-for-navigation-system-2008-2013-50216 Wasn't cheap though, but it came within 5 days and fits perfectly.
  8. I had a Bolero fitted as standard along with Maxidot and I am sure I had a few options (Audio for 1) to have things showing on the Maxidot display. I have since changed the Bolero for a Columbus (and had it all coded to work - thanks Donovan), but now the extra options are not there (that I can find anyway) On pressing the Maxidot button I only have MFD Vehicle Status Settings Then when entering the settings option, there is no option (that I can find) to have anything else other than the MFD Data to display on the Maxidot screen. Is this an easy fix, or does it require VCDS?? Thanks Colin
  9. To me it is a no brainer. Having come from Germany where it is law (almost, but not quite) to have them I only ended up getting a set for my car and the wife's car last year. I did notice a difference in cold wet conditions instantly, and it was totally transformed in the snow (a lot less fun though ). I have since moved to Wiltshire and we changed both cars on the winters just before coming back, all we need now is the temperatures to drop to notice the difference again. Each to their own I suppose, but I wouldn't be without them again, after all I spent enough money on both sets so they are not going to sit in the garage no matter what !!
  10. I have just moved from the Mazda Sport diesel to the vRS Diesel ( picked it up about 4 hours ago). The Mazda was a great car, but I had 2 in a row and fancied a change. It is criminal not having the option of Bluetooth on the vRS unless you go DSG, but the Bluetooth on the Mazda was not as good as on my S-max either. I live in Germany so the 6 could run at 140 mph all day and feel planted on the road, but surprisingly the vRS has the bigger boot and is not as drab on the inside either. I am very happy with my change as I got the vRS with a few toys and still got money back from the dealer when trading in my 6
  11. Do you know if Skoda have a similar system to the Ford ETIS System whereby you can see all the details of your car that have been built (or planned to build), and if so are customers allowed to get access to it? I am interested to know if the vRS that I have ordered has the correct spec and the Bolero Radio, or the Admundsen SatNav, as it should have been built a few weeks ago when the shortages were around. Thanks in advance. Colin
  12. Thanks again for the reply. Not what I wanted to hear though :(
  13. You say I should run 205/55/16, but will there be any problems with the 205/60/16 that I have?
  14. I have a Mazda 6 Sport which ran on 18" Alloys with 225/45/R18 91W tyres, I also used 16" Steel wheels with winter tyres which were 205/60/R16 92T. Now I am assuming that these will be OK to work with the 61 plate VRS Diesel that I am picking up in November. Can someone in the know confirm whether this is the case, or do I need to get different size tyres. I am not going to use snow chains as I will be going nowhere near mountains that make them compulsory. Thanks in advance.
  15. I can get it delivered to myself in Germany, which is 2 Euros, can't see it being more than another £2.00 to get it sent you you via Recorded Delivery if you want me to get one for you, and you can pay me back via PayPal Gift if you wish, so total cost would be about £11.20 if you use the exchange rate of 1.14 to the pound. Happy to help if it is still wanted.
  16. Does anyone have a copy or a link to the online brochure prior to the 01 Jun 11 version please? I only need to know the base price of the VRS 2.0 TDI Hatch Manual. Thanks in advance.
  17. Hi there, Looking for a bit of information / knowledge from the learned people on here. I have just ordered a VRS CR Diesel which I am due to collect in November. However as I went for the manual I cannot get the Bluetooth as a factory fit with the supplied VRS steering wheel. I am getting the normal Bolera radio and I have also gone for the MaxiDot display, but no MDI type thingy. What are my options for bluetooth to work with the iPhone 4? I would prefer to have some form of OEM type affair but I would also like to have the ability to stream music from the iPhone to the stereo. Not too fussed about steering wheel controls if it can all be done with the touchscreen, or is this beyond the Bolero ? I have had a search, but I looked at that many things I managed to confuse myself, which to be fair is not that hard :( Thanks in advance. Colin
  18. I have just ordered a vrs cr hatch last week and have been told I will be a Nov delivery, by the looks of this thread that may be a touch optimistic. Then again I wasn't told which November :S
  19. They are the law here in Germany, and I got my first set for both my Mazda and the wife's DS3, not cheap at just under £1000 for 4 tyres on steel rims. The difference they make is immense and as stated earlier in the thread, these will last for a good few years which in turn will prolong the life of my Summer tyres. They may be expensive but you will be thanking yourself when you are able to get around in the snow and ice, and are able to stop in a fraction of the distance of summer or all weather tyres. They could pay for themselves in no time at all. I will not be surprised if the 'nanny state' in UK makes them law before long (with another nice tax on top for the Treasury :wonder: )
  20. Hi all, Just ordered a new Octavia vRS diesel hatch today, hopefully for a Sep delivery. Thought I would register now I have joined (or will join) the happy band of Skoda owners on the forum. I have looked at the site a few times before I made the plunge, so thanks for all the advice I received (read). Looking forward to picking up the new car and now I have joined I would love to know if anyone could recommend an aftermarket bluetooth kit for my new car (has to work with the iPhone). Thanks Colin
