Hi,
Ever since I bought the car this year I have been having this problem where by the heater directional switch (mechanical, not electrical) doesn't turn freely it gets jammed when being turned clockwise and on top of that the direction itself doesn't change I am stuck with the windscreen, window and two front side vents always open. The two centre and footwell heaters don't operate at all!
The other day I was so fed up I just pulled the Stereo and heater controls out of the car to see if I could at least try to diagnose the problem (I'm not very handy with things like this!).
From pulling it out I could see that the clip that holds the cable to the heater switch has been replaced with a non-standard part which has an overly large clip which is causing the sticking as it is hitting the side of the centre console wall so if anyone knows this part number or something similar that will stop the sticking i'd be really grateful.
When I pulled out the switch section the switch turned properly and I could see that the cable was being turned so I pulled it to see if it had become detached... It hasn't so I would conclude that the bit that the cable is attached to is broken. Again if anyone knows where I can get this part / a part number I'd be really grateful or even if anyone can offer me some advice
I'm happy to provide pictures as required. It just means I'll have to pull the components out again!
