  1. Good work Karel, I am pleased you have got this sorted
  2. There is loads of info on this site if you search mate, here are just a couple I've found http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/319914-octavia-vrs-remap/?hl=%20remap http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/326027-agonising-over-remap/?hl=%2Bremap#entry3910243 I have used Revotechnik in the past on 2 different cars, great software and company in my experience. I've heard lots of good things about Shark performance too and although I've had work done by them I've not tried their remap, seem a really professional outfit though. There are loads more threads if you use the search in the top right of the screen.
  3. I am sure my airbags are connected and working ok, I was told by Shark Performance that they managed to do thus correctly when fitting the seats
  4. Hi Karel, happy to help if i can but my seats are not heated so I'm not sure if this is possible. My Audi seats fitted into the Octavia with the Audi sub-frames, I didn't need to change them. Hope this helps?
  5. Another vote for medium here, I ran it on the stiffest setting and found it a bit unpredictable in the winter. The stiffest setting was really good in decent conditions, made the car feel really stable through high speed changes of direction. Medium doesn't feel quite so stable but any loss of grip in less than perfect conditions seems more controlled and predictable to me.
  6. I changed my Octavia seats for some from an Audi A6, the thread is here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/275138-fitting-audi-a6-seats-in-octavia/ They are so much more comfortable than the original seats, really happy with the result
  7. Quite a lengthy post here which may help http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/207654-tts-short-shifter/?hl=+shortshifter
  8. I put Audi A6 seats in mine and had the rears re-covered, really pleased with the result. I avoided buying electric seats as you'd need additional wiring for the seat motors, changing the plugs over was still required though as they airbag, seatbelt warning etc connectors were all different.
  9. It did come from a vw, could be my imagination but both myself and the wife were convinced that mp3's sounded better. Happy with the DAB benefits anyway so a worthwhile upgrade for me
  10. Was going to start a new thread but found this one, I had the same problem and the same tyres as the original poster, about 5mm tread left and tyres were cracking as shown in photos earlier. Got them changed (Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 which are great) and sent the tyres back to Continental, received confirmation yesterday of 65% refund. Pretty happy with the refund, not sure I'd buy these tyres again though.
  11. Just a screen mount one from Halfords, pretty sure it was one of these Autoleads DAB Film Antenna SMB - DAB-AA1I got a local firm to fit it for me but I'm pretty sure it didn't need seperate power, the film antenna needs to be earthed though so I guess the power is fed from the head unit up the aerial cable
  12. Quick update, new manifold fitted and all seems good, pretty pleased with Skoda paying some of the cost too
  13. I swapped mine over and it was pretty straightforward, a windscreen mounted DAB aerial and the different fascia as described above were needed. My car is a 2010 FL so no new CANBUS required, I'd guess as your car is the same age you'd be ok too. The reversing sensors, temperature settings for the air con and the bluetooth all work exactly as the Bolero, I'm really pleased with the upgrade. My RCD510 has the Dynaudio audio system (Not sure if they all do) and the sound quality is definitely better, especially on music stored on SD card.
  14. Thanks for the reply, I may well enquire about the TPI and if the manifold I'm getting is the 'new' spec Brian
  15. My June 2010 Octavia Vrs petrol (TSI engine) has been diagnosed as needing a new intake manifold. I have owned the car from new, it has a full Skoda service history and has never been run on any petrol other than Shell V Power, it has covered 52000 miles. A few weeks ago a dashboard warning light came on, I took it in and the dealers couldn't find a problem so reset the sensor and it was ok for 10 days or so. Last week the light came back on so I took it back today, the dealer says its definitely the intake manifold and quoted me around £530 to replace. I stated that I was disappointed that a car not even 4 years old would need a new manifold and asked them to contact Skoda for a goodwill contribution. They got back to me about 10 minutes later saying that Skoda would pay 35% bringing the price down to £344. I'd like to see what others think, is it normal for an intake manifold to fail so early and at such low miles? Is the contribution offered by Skoda fair and reasonable? Let me know what you think? Thanks Brian
  16. I have the VW RCD510DAB and it works perfectly, retains reversing sensors, climate info, bluetooth etc. Plugs in to standard wiring and only needs a DAB aerial to function. Regularly come up for sale on the mk5 gti forum and I managed to get a brand new one on the classifieds here for £250, sold the bolero for £150 ish so a pretty cheap upgrade. It also sounds a fair bit better too, especially tracks from the SD card
  17. Just a quick update for anyone having similar problems, I had the car checked and one of the sensors had failed. Fair bit of work but my dealer charged me for the part and 2 hrs labour, they said it was nearly 4 hrs so I was happy enough with that. Heater working perfectly again.
  18. That combination worked mate, thanks for your help. Heater seems to be sorted, certainly a lot better anyway.
  19. Thanks for reply but that combination of buttons doesn't seem to do anything.
  20. I don't have a ECON button, my panel looks like this http://www.motorbeam.com/cars/skoda-laura-cars/skoda-laura-test-drive-review/
  21. Thanks for your help mate, that's what I was hoping to do, if anyone can tell me how to I'd appreciate it.
  22. Anything else I can try until I get home? Could do with the heater functioning for the journey back.
  23. I don't believe it does, I'm thinking it's either flaps or a sensor problem
  24. My 2010 Octavia seems to have developed a fault, the temperature on the climate control seems to drop off on long journeys, the cabin gets noticeably colder after about an hours driving. Hiking the temp up to maximum sometimes but not always seems to sort things out (the heater gets hot and will then hold the selected temp for a while) I'm in Scotland at moment so can't get to dealers until next week, I called them today but they couldn't suggest anything I could try. I'm sure I read something on here I could try to reset the system but can't find it now, can anyone suggest anything? Thanks Brian
  25. I got mine from DPM as they sponsor this site and seemed pretty good for price http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/skoda-octavia-1z-06-c-2376_2529_2578.html I'd say the car now sits around 15-20 mm lower, this is a good compromise for me with a decent ride quality but significantly better handling.
