Hammerite smooth green paint heat resistant?
Rally Red 16v replied to Peanutz's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)

depends whats on the car at the moment if you have 14" steels the 16" alloys will be heavier so acceleration and braking will suffer but whether it would be noticable is another thing. incedentally 312mm brakes slow your accelration down too they weigha ton

I read the faq shamelessy lifetd from the subaru site and thought it was overkill for a road car. If you were turning it into a trackday car then fair enuff. When i built my capri trackday car i went slightly OTT and got the hole saw and air nibblers out. But for a fabia well i'd remove the parcel shelf spare wheel and maybe even back seats. Would make sure i had plenty of meat on brake pads check fluid levels and trye pressures and thats about it. maybe you eed to be more considerate with a scooby cos it's more complicated

Fuel flap wont stay shut on Fabia 1.4 16v
Rally Red 16v replied to Rally Red 16v's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
it realyy is a crappy thing -
so theres a problem there. the door cards only come in beige as early elegances only came with beige seats. try a parts searck on auto mend or one of the others via the autotrader site. i can't see there being many elegances in scrappies as apparently there arent many fabias at all which is why there is no haynes manual not enough cars sold in uk to recover cost of an english language haynes manual.

Are there any in English. I have a german one . There doesnt seem to be a haynes manual not according to halfords anyway no fabia in US so no point checking if theres a bentley manual. Are there any?

Fuel flap wont stay shut on Fabia 1.4 16v

nothing comes up for obvious topics like fuel flap or petrol cap/flap or gas door -
I never would have sai this when i was younger but its only a car you'll get a new one or get it fixed. You wouldn't fix as easily and you certainly get a new one. Its a bugger when it's not your fault i had a similar thing happen to me in my Nova SR an Astra pulled into the side of me nowhere near as much damge tho

you can either use folia tec or stop tint black laquer to cover your stock light. I did the ones on my Audi A4 with a 10 quid can from boy racer shop a couple of coats keeps it nice and legal. the second is to get a paint shop to mix black paint with clear laquer and paint the light with that. The MOT requires that you have a red reflector on the rear of the vehicle within a certain distance of each corner if you have a VRS you wont have to worry about that for a while yet

would a petrol turbo fabia sell?
Rally Red 16v replied to Rally Red 16v's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
i did wonder how much work your swap was. wondered why you didnt fit a 150 or 160. -
I've noticed most of the Fabia around on here are VRS ones and that some are tuned alot. you get a nice reasonably quick and frugal disel with 130hp then spend thousands getting 210hp then oops its not so frugal how many VRS owners would have bought a 225hp 1.8T or 2.0T engined fabia? i gues what i mean is how many diesel VRS's would be sold if they made a petrol turbo one, Gadge at work has an Ibiza cupra sport and its mental fast it keeps up with my mates R32 to well over a ton i'd love to do that in a fabia

Turbo felicia?
Rally Red 16v replied to flatfourburble's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda Forman
I'd speak to dubsport i have vague fuzzy memories of them having built a 2.9 VR6 felicia i recently got rid of my old max powers or i'd have looked it up for you. Most of the issues of transplants are space and if theres enough room for a V6 an ickle 4 pot will fit. -
it wont hurt it nowadays engines are bench run in before being fitted to the car. running it in isnt as important as it was in the 60's it's not a cortina. lol surprised you didnt hit fuel cut, It's like driving into a wall with the powerbox and bigger injectors my tdi would hit the fuel cut just before the start of the red bit of counter. at 130mph it would just drop to 100

2000 W 30K miles bought ity from David Ian Skoda in morcambe. Being one of the first elegances its got beige interior but it also has 4 leccy windows. it's got 14" alloys.. One previous owner who traded it gainst a VRS.
