    Toyota Prius

The problem I have being a service advisor is the figures printed for all manufacturers are absolute rubbish! There done by the ministry of transport and not the manufacturer, the only way to get a fair test is indoors on a rolling road with no wind or hills so the figures printed are always higher than what's realistically achievable on the road with the wind, traffic, hills and now you have roads with extra grippy surface which will lower the MPG. There's no weight drag on a rolling road aswel where there is on the open road. Loads of things lower it down. Don't get me wrong I've drove the hybrids from Toyota and I can't get a good MPG out of them either because there slow if you want good MPG
  2. I had a awesome generic map on my car before I went hybrid and mine made 179bhp but I don't remember the torque, I didn't have a problem with there map. I can't say that there map caused by turbo to pop but it lasted from 46k to 70k with the map getting driven really hard every single day before the turbo gave up, Probly just wear and tear. My clutch and DMF was fine on there map, I only got a SMF for my hybrid

    Toyota Prius

I work for a Toyota dealer and don't get me wrong there isn't a single Toyota I would spend my own money on because there just not my type of car but the Prius can give awesome MPG if its driven in the right modes at the right time. I don't know myself which mode is for when (that's Januarys training course) but they are capable of it. And your right they are 1.8 petrols in the 3rd generation and 1.5 in the 1st and 2nd generations.
  4. Mine is slipping. That's the whole reason I'm buying a new one again
  5. my car gets some stick tho thats what im thinking, ive had 5 sets of tyres on the front in 30'000 miles due to how i drive the car. im going to have a good luck around first because although i drive the car hard i do alot or driving for work and often get stuck in traffic!
  6. its a awesome gti clutch and SMF at the moment but the sach figures qouted on darksides website is 400 for organic and 450 for paddle clutch.
  7. My car is 371ft lbs and the organic is rated to 400 so I was gonna get paddle because that's rated to 450 and gives me a good safety net. Plus I wanna get more power in the future!
  8. Yeah I got told not to get one but I didn't listen and now I regret it! Slips under load really badly and it's only got about 2000-3000 miles on it! And the flywheel chatters like mad!! Really really bad one!
  9. if the anti stutter valve is removed on the BLT the engine light cant be mapped out. (as i found out)
  10. Make of your Clutch = awesome gti (techniclutch) Make of your Flywheel = awesome gti (some old scrap metal) Single or Dual Mass Flywheel = SMF Current Torque (lbs/ft) = 371ft lbs / 205bhp Approx price at time of purchase =£625 Any issues with the Gearbox or Driveshaft etc = hugely loud chatter + clutch slip! going to buy a sachs 4paddle clutch and flywheel soon that has a 450 ft lbs torque rating!
  11. That doesn't sound right to me, not 100% sure but even if the engine is rebuilt like all the Toyota ones we do are it still has its original engine number. What the manager is saying is like chop shop lol. Hopefully you get it sorted. I would pop into your local dealer for a free winter check or something like that and ask them to get the engine number off it while there looking at it. I'm sure they will have a look for you
  12. Each engine has a number as its built on the production line. Like a chassis number it links when the engine or car was built and if somethings faulty or recalled then they can show a implementation date for when they fixed this in production. This way they know between what dates the cars need to be modified. I work for Toyota and when we change engines we have to give the customer the new engine number and its the customers legal responsibility to inform the DVLA of the change so I'm sure every manufacturer would be the same.
  13. Mines pretty easy now as I have no EGR valve or cooler, think its 8 Allen key bolts
  14. I done mine the other day with g101 and a screwdriver and brush, you'll need a screw driver to get the majority of the gunk off with
  15. where i work we use some stuff called G101 (really strong degreaser) and also use a parts parafin bath aswel. we do loads with working on crappy toyotas!
  16. my fabia has been one that recently blew a turbo! while fitting the hybrid and running it in ive had problem after problem from plumes of blue smoke to boost leak after boost leak. i really wanted to get rid of it! its just finially been finished and mapped now by jabbasport and made 205bhp and 371ft lbs of torque and all my problems are gone! im glad i kept going with it and its amazing now! well worth the £3000 ive spent on it!!! just keep going and eventually it will be all worth it in the end!!!
  17. ive got yellow stuff on my fabia and there awesome pads! they stop well from any temps but are amazing when there warm or high speed! and i only ever got a few squeals when they were new. i did have to remove some of the red coating thats meant to bed them in abit faster because that was making some terrible noises! but other than that cracking pads!! and well priced aswel!!
  18. ive got yellow stuff pads on mine which are good, works perfect when cold and even better when hot. ive got a mate who has ferodo ds2500 on his type R and the dust ruined the side of his car because it was so harsh! over priced aswel! yellow stuff are pretty well priced
  19. Yeah it's got a chatter on Tickover and it vibrates more at low revs, I need to keep it at least 1700rpm when driving or it's just to much vibration. Need to get some miles on it before my remap now! Bed it in a little
  20. yeah andy fitted that before i went on holiday, and its booked into jabbasport on 5th of october to have a custom map. im going to take the intercooler and pipework off soon and re-fit it all. still got a leak that needs sorting before the map. ive started painting my wheels now aswel - ford graphite grey
  21. that would be fine to use, i work for a toyota main dealer the techs in my place go through gallons of break cleaner each week!!
