  1. I have Van style can't compare to the skoda ones, but for value for money and quality after 4 years, they still do as, and look like new. Pastures new now for me, so they are off to ebay soon. I have moved to the VW Touareg world. I would recommend them however, having them in the car for 4 years, since new I can be a good judge. Great thing is they are easy to clip out if you need to reverse down a badly lit road at night and cant see a thing, which you cannot do with tints! But that's where camera's come in now.
  2. The guy which I hope he doesn't mind me posting here was JW Towbars - John 07887960085, based in nuneaton, and drove all the way to Redditch to install, and did it in the car park while I was working away upstairs. Great job, no problems. I got a dedicated wiring kit installed included in the price, tidy install, detachable, lockable, with a bag for the towbar when removed, and ball cover, has to sand off the paint off the ball, but thats normal if you use a stabiliser else it clogs it up, he also threw in the 7 pin adaptor to 13 pin as mentioned above, in terms of cost nothing else comes close.
  3. I paid 380 inc VAT... all fitted coded, twin electrics, detachable, actually fitted 13pin, and supplied twin 7 pin adaptor which I asked for (included in price), shouldn't have bothered as have never used the 13pin, only the twins for all my items, towed Twin motorbike trailer, caravans and tip trailers (the Small ones, which are a pain as you can't see them). Incidentally got over 33mpg towing in my 140bhp elegance a 1326kg fully laden caravan single axel, car fully loaded. Local guy (Coventry/nuneaton), great service, done outside work, detachable, lockable, etc. Can see trailer on my screen, and parking sensors disabled. Great price compared to £800 I was quoted from some garages. Towed fine although I have nothing to compare too as its my first towing experience, plenty of power, and composed My next car will be 4x4 superb, as I was nervous on grass slippy hills with FWD, plus its usless in the snow practically.
  4. Had these in for 3 years now, awesome, very flexible pop out in seconds if necessary
  5. Sorry they are efficient grip, not ultra grip, I do not have winter tyres
  6. Sorry I made a mistake, its the Goodyear efficient grips, not ultra grips, doh... I do not have winter tyres
  7. I have put Goodyear Ultra Grip Performance 92W XL on my Skoda from the 92Y XL continentals that were on it, they are awesome, I would say without trying to sound an expert which I am not, you lose the top 3% of cornering (change of direction ability/ rigidity which I only put to use to just see how far it can be pushed, or basically in an emergency situation) but gain 50% on a much smoother (im not exaggerating) ride, 100% of the time, and quieter ride and much better wear, I have 10k on the front they look good for another 10-15k at least (continentals were looking about 2mm after 10k, but even if its only another 10k, I would have them for the comfort factor. My partner thinks it's transformed it from a Hardish Crashier ride, to an executive ride and this is just as a passenger in the front, she was amazed the difference a change of tyres made. Both sets inflated to 50% of the way between recommended Max, and Recommended Min. 2.7 Bar... This is about right as 90% of my miles are with a load towing at times, and full load and roof box, as my daily mileage is only about 3 miles on my own. Tyre wear looked very even when I took them off, so I was happy with pressures. I have drove top executive cars and I do feel like its has made an amazing difference, I think these cars are compromised in handling compared to BMW 5's obviously and even Audi A6's, but I think this car with the softer compound continentals and firmer ride make the car be driven harder than is necessary, even with 18" wheels the ride of this car now feels like it rides on 16" rims, which is nice as you go for these wheels for looks ... not performance, we are not on Need For Speed underground game here. These tyres can be had for circa 100 per corner fitted... these are amazing... Goodyears all the way for me. In terms of what I have reduced its the speed rating not the load rating, I have not reduced the rim size so the load rating does not need to be increased, like the 16" Superbs with 94 load ratings... rather than 92 ratings of the 18". Shoot me down if you don't like what you read but if you want a quiet smooth comfortable and efficient alternative to continentals, try them. They are great value and perfect in poor conditions, the Continentals just didn't work in the snow, they were a JOKE in the snow to be honest, and I could easily spin them in the rain, before traction control decided enough was enough. Goodyears feel better by comparison in the rain, all my personal opinion obviously.
  8. Most people give reasons for and against about lazyness, how easy, how much cheaper, how many problems. My spin on it is, when you are driving, you want to feel like you are in control, not the computer says no scenario. Driving to me is a skill, when you introduce things that are automatic, you just are nervous and thinking, what would I do if this goes wrong, just like the stuck on accelerators, in the toyota's in the states, in a manual, you would simple dip the clutch, whack it out of gear, and let the engine die, as it revs its nuts off, as you coast and brakes to a stop, not ideal, but still not the end of the world, and perfectly safe by comparison to not being able to do it and accelerating to your death. Just like push button starts, rather than a simple key... turn off the engine... computer says no Just like remote central locking... great, while there is a battery, but... where do the keys go to open the door manually, when the battery is dead... give me a key hole please in my door. Just like auto locking ... when you leave keys in the car... Just like electric windows and poor kids fingers, and heads being hanging out them... Just like Auto lights ... and they come on at random times of the day... like a one way tunnel and the car coming the other way says oh great he's flashed me When your driving a car, you are doing that, you dont need to rest a foot... (are we really that lazy?) When your driving a car, do you really need a hand free to "text" while driving... most people do not take the option to have two hands on the wheel I just find it lazy... and then people dont really concentrate on driving as much as they should. However.... regardless of all this I have a manual superb combi 140 tdi, and find the setup, and positioning of the pedal to be badly designed to be fully depressed in the superb with very long travel, and for this reason alone, i'd get a DSG box. My next one will be a DSG lol I just thought the technology was too new when I got my last one, and there was still "problems" I was hearing of. 2 years to go... ;-) Have fun in your DSG's :-D
  9. After many months of ownership can honestly say 12k miles 3mm tread left, no grip whatso ever on summer tyres in deep snow slush! Got stuck on the flat!! In a FWD I was shocked, as bad as an A6 I had the pleasure to drive in the past! Still love the car wasnt hard to get going again! Lets hope it doesn't snow again for a couple of years!!! Lol
  10. I've had my vanstyle in the car for a year, never took them out over winter as the dark rear of the car just looks too good! Specially as its black. Can't recommend then enough, and when I've finished with them I will be selling them too. Lol now the DVD is in the rear our trip to Paris will be cool for the kids with the twin screens. Thought the join in the middle at the rear would bother me but it just doesn't lol
  11. Having a TowTrust towbar detachable swan neck fitted to my superb, dedicated electrics, vehicle specific, fitted, with 13 pin, and supplied adaptor, £380 all in! Really chuffed, and this includes the coding. It will work perfectly with ALKO stabiliser, and give enough clearance. Really chuffed about this price, will let you know how I get on, and if I forget about the update, and anyone wants the details, let me know via private message, or on here!
  12. I still need a tow bar, any news on this guys?
  13. Went superb elegance 140cr tdi in the end, love it!!!
