Hi Guys My 1.8 BJX is currently having boost surge issues (I Think). When the cars all warmed up and i plant my right foot on the throttle, the boost rises and then drops off, and building up again and drops off. The whole time the car will still accelerate however the car does feel like this its surging forward and then back as the boost builds and drops off. Is this the Recirculating Diverter Valve? Which I believe is the original (52k on the car) If so do I need to replace this with the valve used on the Audi's? Cheers JT

Hi all, I know it's not a skoda but thought it can't be much different than other 1.8t's I've seen many guides about installing a boost gauge in a Polo 9n3 GTI, however a lot of the guides show the vacuum pipe being routed through the grommet on the passenger side of the car, and then under the dash to the drivers side. Is there a place that the vacuum line can be routed so that it comes out by the drivers side pedals, which to me seems more logical than routing the vacuum line halfway round the engine bag and cabin. Hi all, I bought a k&n induction kit for my 9n3 gti, it's the one made specifically for my car, however I'm having trouble fitting it! Part of the installation is to put the filter adapter onto the maf, however the maf is about a mm to big for the adapter, should I get some sand paper and remove a small amount of rubber to make it fit? Or is there another way as its only a mm preventing it fitting! Cheers Ramjam

Removed the Twin USB Port and its solved the issue, cheap eBay purchases from china are not always the best after all.

I have exactly that currently in the mobile charger, one from ebay also! ill remove it and try this again.

Hi guys My cars radio reception is fine in most areas, however is weaker in some but can still be listened to, but here's the issue. When the cars ignition is switch on, those areas in which the signal is weaker become unbearable. Being an aircraft electrician i know of some of the key issues with radio reception, however aircraft's differ from cars so im hoping you guys could know whats causing the issue. Should i test to ensure that when the ignition is on, im still getting 12V into the radio, as well as ensuring ive got a good ground. Could i be picking up interference from the alternator? Would a signal booster or interference suppressor help the issue. Cheers

Cheers for the replies, i did wonder that but could really find a section it could go in, what torque figures did you get? as its not the BHP that kills the engine its the torque?

Hi guys, I know ive sold the fabia and i know own a Polo GTI, but as i know your all extremely knowledgeable thought id give you guys a crack at this question as im sure some of you have crossed a BJX engine before. Probably the wrong section to ask in so please excuse me for that. But here goes. Ive got a 57 plate Polo 9N3 Gti with the 150Bhp 1.8T 20v BJX engine, I've had it for around a year now and am looking at getting a remap. After doing some research i found that the BJX suffers from weaker con rods than other VW engines. Just wondering what limits a remap can be taken to before it starts to stress the internals? As super chips offer an increase to 187BHP and 266Nm, where Revo for example offer 207BHP and 316Nm. Is super chips lower for the purpose of not pushing it to the extreme? Just looking for a bit more insight on this and whats the best option? Also what would the members here suggest is better, Cotton or Foam filters as replacements for stock? Cheers in advance RamJam

Hi all, Just a quick update to say ive received nothing in the post regarding this issue! Brilliant, im guessing it could of been a police officer checking insurance and MOT ect, or just trying to put the brighteners on people, either way it has certainly made me drive the speed limit since. James

This is good new to me, i never usually speed, only when the roads are clear and safe to do so, i think it was a combination of to much throttle and the turbo kicking in and talking to the Mrs which distracted me. In the end i hope i get the course to avoid the points, but if im honest its a life lesson non the less. I'm looking at it in a positive way in which either way ill learn from it and concentrate more.

Thanks for the reply, i haven't had any previous convictions since getting my licence 4 years ago, i plugged the satnav in a min ago and went for a drive, my speedo reads 37 and the satnav 35 so in fact less than i thought, obvs due to the tolerances put on speedos. so hopefully like you said be offered the course, don't facing paying the same premium for another year, as just did a quote for my renewal and it stays the same instead of reducing ahhh.

Hi guys, Was driving along today on a 30 mph road when i notice a bike parked on the grass mound and a man in high vis with a camera on a pole, thought it was a mobile surveyor or something, i was wrong. was a police man with a speed device. When i looked at my speedo as i went past im sure it was around 37 mph, does this mean ill get a speed awareness course? or a fine and points. I read that it is 10% plus 9mph max so 42mph for the course. Just wondering about any of your experiences or knowledge. Cheers James

Hi all, I know the fabia has gone now but as you have all offered such good advice thought I'd pick your brains again. My VW Polo gti's passenger get headlight fixing has snapped, it is repairable? I was thinking of bonding the two points together, the bonding another piece of material plastic or metal over the join long ways to add strength? What do you guys think? Any other ideas would be great. Cheers James
