  1. HI there. I’m having what sounds like the same problem, except that it’s an iPhone 13. Did you get this fixed? I can no longer connect since I bought my new phone. Apple CarPlay seems to be greyed out in various places when I look through car settings. I now wonder whether I need an adapter.
  2. Hi all. EDITED TO ADD: I’m still Googling and now wondering whether I need a CarPlay adapter. If so, can anyone recommend one that would work in my 2016 Fabia? I’ve been using an iPhone to listen to audiobooks/music and use the mapping app for years, but it stopped working/connecting when I recently bought a new iPhone. Google suggests that many people with many different kinds of iPhone are having the same problem. I’ve just been on the phone to Apple support, who have tried hard to help. My phone will now connect wirelessly to the car as soon as I get in (via Bluetooth) but I can’t find a way to see maps on the car screen when connected wirelessly. This has been an issue recently as I’ve needed to navigate to a few new places (hospitals, for health reasons). On the phone again to Apple just now we both noticed that somewhere in the car settings, when it asked for preferred connection method, it offered Mirrorlink (I think it was called) and an Android alternative. Apple CarPlay was not in the list. I now wonder whether it should have been. I told Apple I’d try to work out why AppleCarplay doesn’t seem to be in the list, try to get it and then return to Apple if necessary. Can anyone shed any light on this please? As mentioned at the start, my various phones worked seamlessly with first a Fabia Estate and more recently a 2016 Fabia to play books and music and show me the map, so they must have been using something. I didn’t give any thought to what it was because it was simply working. Since this issue arose and I looked into things a little I assumed they’d been using Apple CarPlay. Now I wonder whether it was something else. Mirrorlink, perhaps? Should Apple CarPlay be on a 2016 Fabia? If it’s not there, is there a way for me to get it? Thanks for any help. This is a hugely confusing mess!
  3. Thank you very much indeed, and apologies for the delayed response. I became distracted! I appreciate your help
  4. Hi there. Can anyone recommend a really good indie near Lancaster? I’m about to collect my car today after a replacement turbo charger (that’s another thread…) that I had done at a local garage which is a Ford dealership. I think I’ll need my cam belt doing soon and I’d like to go to a good indie if possible, that understand Skodas. Recommendations gratefully received 👍
  5. Hi all, and thanks for helping. Apologies for the confusion. The info in the vehicle info section was about my last car, which was an estate. I’ll get out the registration document and find out which engine this one has. It is petrol, btw.
  6. Many thanks, @Warrior193. I’ll ask for that. If that was the original issue, would that have required replacement of the whole turbo charger? If it needed doing then I realise I’ll have to mentally accept it, but that’s difficult when the whole thing seems to be mired in mystery as it is.
  7. Hi all. Please bear with me as I know nothing about cars. I have a 2016 Fabia. On Monday it went in because the engine management light was on. I was told it needed a new turbo actuator. Very long story short, it’s still there. Garage (good one as far as I know, but not a Skoda dealership) told me they couldn’t ’code in’ the new actuator. They took it to local Skoda garage on Weds but they couldn’t do it either. All concluded the new actuator supplied by Skoda was faulty and so they had a new one delivered, but they still couldn’t get it going. Local Skoda dealership have told them the whole turbo charger (i.e. the entire thing) needs replacing. They apparently told the garage they’ve come across this before i.e. system is showing a fault (something - turbo arm I think they said - was showing as stuck, but they’ve had it out of the car and it is working fine), and to get round it the only way was to replace the entire turbo charger. The job was £450 with actuator. Now it’s £1,200. Does anybody have any ideas about this and whether there is anything they could try? What should I do? I’m told it won’t pass MOT because engine management light is on, and MOT Is due any time now for tax at the end of the month. Many thanks for any help 🤞 EDIT TO ADD: Having spoken to a friend who knows more than me, it sounds as though what they must actually be saying is that they can’t clear the fault code (which suggests that the turbo arm is stuck), even though the fault reported is not actually a fault.
