  1. well as per my cashback etc I got mine for £117.50 fitted at Halfords so slightly under the £118 of the Uniroyals :-)
  2. Thanks for all the replies I've gone for the Goodyear F1 assymetric 2's I got these online from Halfords, they seem to be doing an push online at the moment, the price quoted was £260 for 2 I got a further £5 per tyre off by quoting an online code "TYRES" or "TYRE" can't remember which, and bought them via top cashback (the code was also supplied by top cashback so it wont invalidate the cashback) on a cashback credit card - so hopefully the final cost will be £235 for 2. Slippy as hell as to be expected before they bed in but will let you know how they go... and how they wear!
  3. Thanks for replies, I'm tempted by the f1 assymetrics, would go for the costco tyres if I needed 4 as they work out at £410 for 4 ps3's but I only need 2, so far I have 2 x F1's for £216 delivered by camskill with £12 each to fit by my local tyre guy. Or I may pay an extra £20 and get 2 for £260 from Halfords online... just a bit nervous with the Halfords mechanics!
  4. Sorry I guess this thread has been done before but I'm struggling choosing tyres for my vrs Diesel. Choices are Rainsport 2's Vredestein - I know these used to be recommended is centro or vorti best or have they been superceeded? Toyo PROXES - which ones if any? Falken FK 452 Michelin Pilot Sport 3's Goodyear Eagle Assymetric 2's I was initially looking at the rainsport 2's however I've aldo seen that pilot sport 3's have a better rating in the wet (A rather than B ) Are the last two tyres Ps3 and assymetric 2 a more premium tyre than the others? Too much choice and I'm confused, the car currently has conti 2's which came from new, these are ok but it appears there are better options. I don't absolutely hammer the car but want a decent tyre which is safe in the wet, handles well in the dry and doesn't wear like mad (yeah ok I want it all). Current tyres lasted 18k, any advice or thoughts / warnings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  5. there were no discounts, and no supply, now realised that there is the vat free -- 20% off I have no luck with car buying lol, anyway will see how it goes private sale
  6. Sorry for delay in replying, have been away. My car is a grey Vrs Diesel estate, not high specced just reversing sensors and a spare wheel, it was registered very late May 2011, great condition with 18k miles, I was hoping for at least £14.5k which I thought was low but the dealer offered me £12.5k. What was the most annoying was that he wouldn't discuss price in any way on the phone, instead he let me drive 25 minutes to then wait half an hour to offer me £12.5k for a car he admitted was as new. The online valuation wasn't from we buy anycar, it was from another one which actually agrees the price of the car and then comes out with the truck. They may still knock it down I guess but I would imagine its different than if you drive to them. Anyway I may try it private or I may just keep it, thing is we just don't really need it for the next year.
  7. Sorry this is a whinge but I've had my first and last ever new skoda VRS estate Diesel 11 plate for 14 months now, 17 k miles which is slightly over average but in immaculate unmarked condition. Circumstances have changed in the family and I no longer need the car so I thought I'd go to a "reputable" dealer that being DM Keith or Wakefield. I called and asked for a price but they weren't interested in even giving me a rough estimate unless I brought the car too them, fair enough I would expect so, however I visited and they have offered me 55% of the new price for the car to sell to them... even one of the webuy your card brigade offered 61%. Hence firstly I question why anyone would ever buy a new Skoda with such terrible residuals and also warn anyone making the journey to DM Keith for a valuation that they could be wasting a trip. I'm sure I'm posting this n the wrong place as I guess folks here are rather bought into the brand but never for me again...maybe I'm being naive and maybe all new cars are now dropping so quickly but would have expected a Skoda dealer to offer more than webuyyour car.
  8. Well if I do sell it I'll let you know and if not I'll probably be on here a bit more :-)
  9. Thanks for all the replies, I guess as you can tell I'm being a tad "panicky" and seling is only one option (don' worry about this degenrating into a sales ad, I've blown that now I've stated what I'd take :-) I'd put it on ebay / autotrader if tat is I decide to sell) I have taken the car on finance with a balloon payment, it was all worked out nicely until the potential of having to stick loads of miles on it or become redundant in which case the co car option seems better, although it would have to be a boring golf estate and I mean 1.6 boring. Also I was thinking of selling now as is virtally new and hence thought that it would be beter than taking a greater hit later and while the list for the car was £23k I didn't pay that much so wouldn't be taking a massive hit. Will have a think about it and look at the options. Cheers Pete
  10. Thanks for the reply My company do pay mileage however as I get a car allowance, it just covers the diesel. The main point is milage though, when I worked out my finances I wanted the car to have a decent value in 3 years time so I can change it, however 30k+ miles per year is going to kill the residual. I'd be better off getting back into the company scheme if I did it quickly. To be honest I didn't think I'd get £19-20k, if I got £18k it would be enough to make it worth my while I think over time, its just an option at the moment, another is to buy a banger for the Bristol trips! My other concern is that there is talk of redundancies and so I'm also getting nervous at having the lump of capital in the car, its terrible timing but I need to think about the options.
  11. Bit of a nightmare for me, I recieved my shiny new anthracite, Vrs cr 170 diesel estate just over a couple of weeks ago, quite impressed with it, however work have just clamed down on travel and it looks like my regular Leeds - Bristol trips may now need to be by car. This would have been fine with my old company cr but now I've pulled out of the scheme I really don't want to rack the miles onto the Vrs. Hence I'm considering a few different options but one is to sell it, it has aprox 1,000 miles (doing too many already) is fairly standard with the only extras being the paint, rear parking sensors and a full size spare. Thing is I have no idea what I'd get for it, list for car and extras is just under £23k, however I notice that there is now a 5% vat offer, so any thoughts on what it would be worth would be appreciated.
