  1. Dealers round here couldn't care less about cash, they make more from the finance.
  2. Even if they got 13k for it (I doubt they had to drop it that much - ever tried arguing down a mint low mileage well optioned car that a dealer has had in a week?) which I doubt it was still £1k more than i asked BEFORE haggling and still no-one was interested.
  3. Not good news from me on this subject - I had an Aug 11 plate Candy white VRS 2.5k miles with good options inc Sat Nav, Heated seats, Climatronic, Black roof and wheels, 3 years free servicing... Was offered 11k for mine from one dealer. ended up getting 12k from another. Had no enquiries from Pistonheads or Autotrader whatsoever in 3 weeks - and I've sold all my old cars privately.. I had it up for £12999 They put it up for sale at £13999 and it was gone within 10 days
  4. Its gone back to Skoda - shame as the car was absolutely mint. David
  5. Anyone interested? The car is for sale on a few forums and pistonheads, looks like it might go back to the dealer at this point :( David
  6. Babs, the buyer pays off the money outstanding on my finance agreement (via debit card, while on the phone to the finance company) then takes possession of the car. In some senses it's easier than a fully private sale as I couldn't accept a debit card payment, and would have to deal in cash or a bank transfer or whatever. David
  7. It's quite simple really, but perhaps you haven't done this before. Once a sale is agreed, the buyer will pay the outstanding amount to VWFS, then pay me the difference. What's not legal is to sell a car on finance without telling the buyer, and then pocketing the money. I've made it clear the car has finance outstanding. Thanks for you post though. David
  8. No, the majority of the buyers money will go directly to VWFS. David
  9. To be fair I bought it with the 'Skoda pay VAT' offer, but that's no longer available according to their website.
  10. Thanks Had an 'ok' trade in offer, but given the car if you bought this spec now would be circa 18k I hope I can get 13k :(
  11. Sold back to a Skoda dealer. I'd imagine will be for sale through the Skoda network pretty soon.
  12. Just rang them, all automated and I have a settlement figure - thanks for the replies I'll put a post up in the for sale bit, as the car is like new and has some nice options and I'm sure a trade in offer will be bad!
  13. I've got a nice bonus and promotion at work, and as always I started thinking about other cars I could now afford My Fabia VRS is on PCP, its less than a year old, and I guess I'd either have to trade it in, or buy out the contract and then sell privately? Has anyone else done this, and did you lose a lot of money? David
  14. VicRS does mostly the same as me, although there is no need to wait to hit the throttle, as the car will release the brakes as soon as you do. However there is so much mis-information in this thread its unbelievable. -Since when does sitting in traffic with your foot on the brake blind anyone? -Why would anyone drive an automatic/DSG using both feet? -Putting the car in Neutral in traffic is not needed, the clutches in the DSG box release as soon as you press down hard enough on the brake pedal (try it, you can actually feel the clutch disengage as you put more pressure on the brakes) keep your foot on the brake and they stay disengaged. -Creeping forward is a trait of the old torque converter autos, its ONLY on DSG cars as *most* longtime auto drivers prefer that to rolling back, its easier to control at low speed with one foot on the brake.. The Hill hold control works perfectly on my VRS, happy to give people lessons David
