  1. Hi garibaldy, not sure about the water ingress issue but my daughter tells me that windows are working again (2 days in a row). This is clearly after 2 very hot days which could have dried any moisture present, although there was a bad storm on Tuesday night and the car was outside overnight which might cause water ingress. Seems very random. Nothing has been knowingly done that could explain the change to working. I will be keen to continue to monitor developments (from a safe distance).
  2. Thanks Wino. I'll add this to the "to do list" but it may be a while before I get a chance to work on the car again.
  3. Thanks for responses.I won't be able to get a photo for some time as the car is with my daughter 170 miles away, but hopefully the relay is the same as in the vw (ACT 512) which is easily available). How easy is it to access the window motor and control module?
  4. I have had a look online and found what may be an answer on a vw forum. https://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/archive/index.php/t-370268.html A similar problem appears to have been solved by repairing the motor control module pcb. This involved replacing a relay and capacitor. I am not sure if the unit in the Fabia is the same as this one. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
  5. I am struggling with this. I would have thought that the motor is a hardware issue whereas everything else suggests software - because an error reset seems to have made both motors work for a short while when nothing else was changed.
  6. Thanks Tech1e but why did that motor work perfectly the other day. It worked totally normally for a few hours.
  7. Hello I hope you do not mind me adding to this thread. I no longer have the Monte but my daughter has a 2007 Fabia 1.2. For some time now (months) neither front window would operate. I had tried changing fuses etc and had got the passenger window to work for a short time so I was sure that wiring and motors were ok but could not solve the problem. When she visited last weekend she got the dreaded EPC warning light en route and found somewhere to stop safely. The AA responded promptly and indicated that both (!) brake lights had failed. Do not know if this was sudden, both together, or if the second failure triggered the fault but they were replaced and he probably reset the error codes. Surprise surprise next day on a trip we found that both windows worked properly. They still worked later that day after the ignition had been switched off but had failed again the next day. It appears to defy logic. Anyone have any further ideas?
