  1. Just had the plugs changed as part of a major service at Skoda dealer. First change ... 28,000 miles on original plugs is not bad going. I've got the originals here as well and numbered.
  2. I'm having some issues with the electric windows on the vRS. Car has been parked in my garage for a couple months as we don't use the car anymore and the MOT lapsed. I've been too busy to do anything with it so over the past week or I've given it a service and clean up and its booked in for its MOT later today ready to go to its new owner and typically the electric windows no longer work. They were fine before it was parked up. - fuses checked - wiring checked - key in door lock does not drop / raise window - assume the switch is ok as the central locking works - I'm not hearing the motor 'try' I suspect the motor - anyone got any further suggestions? I'd like to get this fixed for the new owner who hopes to collect at the weekend.
  3. If anyone needs a 312mm setup give me a shout ... got a sets in my garage due to removing from the Wife's vRS before I sell it. Will put up a sale post later on.
  4. If anyone needs 312mm upgrade give me a shout. I've got a couple in my garage kicking around! Just done the Wife's vRS ... night and day difference!
  5. No it's not manufacture / skoda dealer warranty ... just a gold star warranty from dealer which has limited cover. No idea when plugs / brake fluid / etc was done ... Skoda want £269 for major service and doubt that includes the spark plugs. Awesome GTi want £219 which does include spark plugs.
  6. It's also worth noting I'm more than capable of doing the work myself ...
  7. So the Wife's 2012 vRS (cave engine) with 28,000 miles is shortly due a service. Its mainly full skoda history except the last one which was done by dealer (non Skoda) we bought the car from ... with it being under warranty until sept 2017 should we bite the bullet and get the major service done by local dealer or just use an independent? I'm thinking in terms of any faults highlighted should be fixed under warranty before it ends ... but also in the event of engine issues in future the skoda history may support any claim?
  8. No different from looking at the radio / dashboard or sat nav is it.
  9. Makes sense ... and yes it is so she has visibility of the screen in the event something happens to me (I'm a biker) or her father who has mobility problems at present.
  10. Daft! Wife wants her iPhone in the phone mount on dash (next to steering wheel) and to be able to play music and charge the phone from the MDI socket. Any ideas? MDI to USB, then USB to lightening connector does not work. MDI to old style apple connector works fine - no extension cable available though. I'd rip the Skoda Swing Headunit out and put something else in but she doesn't want to spend £200-£300 to charge her phone and play music from it ... I see her point tbh.
  11. Oh, we have a smart arse I'm saying an engine that is used for short journeys is NOT able to burn off condensation properly or coked up components such as the plugs. That's common sense as much. But you know this but chose to be pedantic about it rather than helpful. If you know different then feel free to educate!
  12. The fuel type is irrelevant to oil consumption and meant to imply it is getting what Skoda recommend. I.e 98 ron fuel. As for the occasional thrash with a hot engine this is to burn off condensation from short journeys and clean up anything coked up internally as evidenced by the exhaust tips ... I.e spark plugs, etc. For example ... when spark plugs coke up due to the shorter journeys the plug tips run hotter causing hot spots in the cylinder head and is a key reason the tips of the plugs fall off ... Preventive maintenance.
  13. Can I let you ask her that whilst I watch? I see your point, but it's her car not mine. A happy wife is a happy life ...
  14. That's pretty much what I've decided on Damian. Thanks
  15. I'm worried the H&R springs are going to be too low. She wants a mild drop, not so it is sitting right on the tyres?
  16. I planned to put it into Skoda for a full service after Christmas just in case of any future issues. But I assume they would just use 5w 30 longlife...
  17. The wife says her new car sits too high and wants it lowered ... however she only wants a mild drop so with this in mind what do people recommend? Any pictures to compare?
  18. It seems the wife's vRS is using a little oil but I don't think it is anything to worry about yet? Just put in 0.5 liter ... it's done 800 miles. I checked it upon purchase and was full, checked today and just into the hatchlings mark. It's a 2012 CAVE with 25,000 miles, I only run it on 99 RON but it does a lot of short journeys. I do give it a thrash every time I drive it.
  19. Gains from remap on those engines will put it on par with a BLT engine equipped Mk1 vRS. Circa 140-145bhp and 250lbft. I looked into it myself before I bought a Mk2 vRS for the Wife to replace her old Mk1 vRS with remap.
  20. I supplied the parts to the garage that did the work for me. Belt kit was INA from ECP. Pump was Circoli from ECP.
  21. Belt, Pump, Tensioners were all replaced 8-9 months ago!
  22. It's done via VCDS - Central convenience module. Long code helping.
