No worries i have sorted it somone have probably played about with the tappets before i had the car i re adjusted them and it now runs like a dream and fuel economy is back up In case anyone else has this problem this is how you do it 1. loosen lock nut 2. adjust it until it's kissing the valve stem 3. turn a further two times 4. lock the locknut and it's really that simple it's in the haynes manual but explained a lot more complicated than that

no it's definetly the tappets could the hydrolic lifters be shot because i have changed the timing chain about 15,000 miles ago along with the thermostat and water pump

Hey there, my fabia is a bit laggy and well rather noisy on the tappets especially when cold and im confused because people say they are hydrolic but there is a locking and adjusting nut there and i just wondered if you can adjust them and if any one knows what the clearances are ? Cheers Rob
