  1. HK were quite busy at the time, but I managed to get a good job done locally by RM in Ardeer. Thanks again for the help. I might consider a remap in the future, but at the moment I'm quite pleased with the performance and economy!
  2. Thanks very much VrsGeo... They are just round the corner from me, so I'll pay them a visit!
  3. I'm looking for options in Ayrshire and surrounding area for servicing. I've used Ingram in Ayr but are there any other options you'd recommend? Needing to get a full service and cambelt/water pump change on an Octy MkII 2.0 CR 170 VRS Thanks for any help

  5. M101 Pinwheel Galaxy Bodes Nebula and Cigar Galaxy M81/M82
  6. For all those who use Black Rapid style straps. They are good but a word of warning follows: Occasionally they can work themselves loose from the tripod monting hole in the camera or lens. My D4 and 24-70mm f/2.8 plummeted to the ground from hip height snapping the 24-70mm in half and damaging the lens mount in the D4. I hadn't noticed that the threaded D-ring had loosened. £1200 of repairs later and all's well and good, but I now have a shoelace tether between the D-ring of the Black Rapid strap and the normal Nikon body mount. It doesn't really get in the way and gives peace of mind, as the D-ring can't now loosen.
  7. I've used the hidden digital speedometer (I forget the buttons you need to press on the climate control) and it tallies with my GPS. By comparison my main speedo overreads by about 3mph at 70mph.
  8. 600+ on a full tank? I'd feel lucky getting 500! 475 would be more likely with mixed driving... Unless you drive everywhere at 30mph. I'm happy that my fuel consumption readout is accurate and not giving wildly optimistic mpg figures. It's always best to gauge it against the true mileage you get on one tankfull.
  9. Anyone who wears Lowas and owns an Octavia is OK in my book! I have to say though that I don't run around in my vRS looking for out and out economy... My Lowas seem to be fitted with lead soles!
  10. Interesting to hear some figures on here... I travelled down in my VRS estate (2.0 CR) from Scotland to SW.Wales then across to Southampton, up to Nottingham and back home... The most mileage i got from a tank of DERV was 503 which i think equates to about 42 mpg. I don't crawl along in the slow lane but also don't really toe the accelerator hard, using the cruise control on motorways. I do have a boot full of lighting gear on most occasions so this may account for the above figure... but I'm still pretty happy as my CRV did 27mpg wherever I went. Maxidot or whatever the thing's called claimed that I was getting 45mpg average, which isn't too far out.
  11. I've been told I own a Shkodda Octaahvia before by someome from the Czech Rep.... but I still say Skoada Octayvia - Just personal preference.
  12. I like mine... Originally wanted a blue, but was sold on the anthracite once i'd seen it. Great for blending in to the background
  13. Originally Skoda (Pilsen) were the top marque in Czechoslovakia and produced everything from high quality cars to aeroplanes to tanks... But... they had a bit of a bad run back in the 70s and 80s i.e. the cars weren't great in terms of reliability and quality and consequently the brand received very bad press, although they were fairly successful on motor rallies. Since acquisition by VW huge changes were made and the brand has gone from strength to strength (they are very good these days). Where once you'd see the occasional Skoda on UK roads, now it's almost impossible not to see one on a journey. This has improved the name of Skoda, but I do meet the occasional doubter, and I suppose the stigma of producing those unreliable cars in the 70s/80s hasn't been completely shrugged off.
  14. I've always used Adobe Photoshop as a digital professional and have yet to find any other software to make me change....
