  1. Fabia's Are So Frustrating!! ARGH

  2. No worries, Thanks for your help Does anyone else have any suggestions in regards to my acceleration problem? My best friend just suggested air intake cleaner?
  3. Hey Guys, Dont worry Melilla I am quite happy for you to talk on here My problem isn't a lag on acceleration so much as a lack of power, and when i do accellerate it is very slow & uneven, whether I am touching the throttle a little or have my foot right down it doesn't make a difference. And in regards to the previous comment about using the gears properly for the fuel economy.. This isn't an option as I need to 'rev hard' just to get the car to accelerate at all, especially on main roads
  4. So it is under the air intake pipe at the top of that picture? Is it next to the air flow sensor/map/manifold sensor. As I accessed that yesterday by undoing three screws and lifting the air flor pipe.
  5. Okie doke, I will do those jobs aswell, However i think i will leave the timing chain for the moment, as thats an expensive job and I don't know if I will keep the car or not if i keep having problems. What is the throttle body? Neither me nor my father know what that is.
  6. Hey again guys, Firstly thank you all for your advice so far, your all fantastic! Now the only other problem I have with my Skoda (touch wood) is that when i try and accelerate the car hessitates, It seems that between 1500-2500 revs the car is very hessitant to accelerate, and then when you get to 2500-3500 the car goes like the clappers! I really dont like having to push my car to accelerate to 3500 revs as the petrol consumptioons drops alot but I seem to have to do it all the time just to make the car go. I have already changed my map/air intake/manifold sensor & that sorted the problem for about a week before the problem came back.. Does anybody else suffer with this problem? And does anybody know how to fix it?? Thanks Alex
  7. The mileage is 82,000. The car was sold with having 'just been serviced' but to be honest the dealer was dodgy as hell so I dont think this was done. I don't think the timing chain has been changed either. There is no engine management light on (as previously) so I don't know about any fault codes as I haven't taken it anywhere since the engine management was sorted. But the last time i had it scanned there were no fault codes (after changing my air flow sensor). I will change the spark plugs as you have suggested, Is the misfire something I should worry about or just ignore? I have had the car 4 months now and have been quite happy ignoring it so far, but want to get all the problems fixed on the car prefereably. I don't know if you have any knowledge about this, but my car has some seriously flat acceleration. its always so hessitant when accellerating and although it hasnt been dangerous it does really worry me. Do you have any knowledge about this? Thanks so much for your help, Alex
  8. Just wanted to report back - I changed the air flow sensor in my fabia, and the engine management is now perminently off. the car is still running rough as a dog but at least the light is off now so the fault is over. So if anyone has had the same fault as me just replace the air flow sensor (mine cost me £30).
  9. Hi there, I started a topic earlier with an engine management fault, and i have just about managed to fix it. However now I would like some advice for my misfire. The car is constantly misfiring, on acceleration & on in idiling. I know that everyone with Fabia's seem to have this problem.. Does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks guys, Alex
  10. hi again, sorry to bombard you with replies.. What fuse could it be that is faulty? thanks again! Alex
  11. Hi, Thanks for getting in touch, Do you know which one is most likely? and if i am going to change this stuff what order do i want to change them in? I know it seems a silly thing to ask but would rather try the most likely things first! lol Thanks again! Alex

  13. Hi everyone, I recently bought a 2002 skoda fabia 8v. It is a fantastic car except since a week after i bought it the engine management light has been on. After 4 months of fluffing about i have managed to change the air intake map sensor but the light has come back on with the fault '16496 intake air temp circ'. the car is running alot better since i have changed the map sensor, but it is still misfiring like crazy, and running a little roughly it also lacks power. Can anyone help me, please? I am seriously concerned that i may have to sell it as spares or repairs and buy myself an old banger. It is really upsetting as i spent all my savings buying this car as i wanted something reliable! Can anyone in skodaland help, and has anybody else had the same problem? Thanks guys! Alex
  14. Hi everyone, I recently bought a 02 Skoda Fabia 8v. I must admit it is a great car, however 7 days after i bought it the engine management light came on. After 4 months of fluffing around i replaced the air intake map sensor but the car still has a fault. The fault code is now 16496 intake air temp circ. Can anyone help me with this? The car is misfiring like crazy and seems to lack power aswell. I really love my skoda, and would like to keep it for year to come, but this is really starting to wear me down and I cant seem to find any information out there! Please help me skoda lovers, please! Alex
