Probably getting confused between DMF and DPF
DMF - Dual Mass Flywheel - part of the clutch used to reduce vibration in the transmission, when faulty results in drive judder.
DPF - Diesel Particulate Filter - usees higher revs at idle and injects more fuel under throttle every so often to generate heat to burn off carbon particles in exhaust filter
