  1. Cheers for that. I've popped them into my basket! I'd like to change the number plates to LED's too! Does anyone know the fitting or have experience in fitting canbus LED's to the Rapid?
  2. What fitting are the side light bulbs? I went for philips x-treme vision +130% and the difference is amazing. replacing the dipped beam Is one of the first things i do when i get a new car. thanks!
  3. Compared to the VRS the Rapid is obviously going to be quite different. I do miss the "putting my foot down" and flying away whilst letting the DSG box do it's thing. Though, it's quite surprising how nippy the Rapid is. I've got the 1.2 105 and having previously owning a 1.6 105 tdi fabia monte carlo, i can actually almost compare the petrol engine to the diesel engine speed and torque wise. economy, i guess it's a little too early to say. i've only done 200 miles and things have got to wear in a little before i get some true economy readings, however i'm getting about 40mpg on my drive in and out of Nottingham city centre each day in rush-hour traffic. the VRS was about 30mpg. I have had to adapt my driving style to a much smoother pace though. It was too easy to kick down on the VRS and have some fun. But the best thing is that my VRS ran exclusively on 99ron fuel (seriously... skoda even said in their manual/fuel cap it had to be 98ron or higher) where as the Rapid is good with the cheaper 95ron fuel, so i'm saving money there.
  4. ah, no i haven't! with it being a brand new car it didn't occur to me. I shall try in the morning. thanks!
  5. Hi guys, So today I swapped my 1 year old Fabia VRS estate for a Rapid Sport in candy white.. I LOVED my VRS however it had to go for the amount of money it was costing on fuel. I've picked up the car and I'm liking it so far, however my only gripe is the electric windows.... When I briefly press the drivers side button, it automatically goes down which is great. However, it won't go up with a simple flip of the button. I have to keep my finger on it. I also have to keep my finger on the passenger window to make it go up and down. My fabia's windows used to automatically go down when you briefly pushed the button on both the passenger and drivers side. Do you have to keep your finger on the button for all rapids? Can the dealer enable automatic up/down for me? it may sound trivial, but I have a very narrow driveway which means I have to reach across to the wing mirrors to fold them each time i pull in and out of my drive i guess life would be easier if they automatically went up and down with a flip of the switch. Many thanks!
  6. Mine is currently being changed as I speak. 13 plate CTHE, though I only found out today as i dropped it off for it's first service. My box is fine, though the only criticism I have is when I reverse uphill and I have to tap on the breaks, it likes to roll back down the hill for a couple of foot before the clutch bites back again. Actually, not sure if it has anything to do with the box at all.
  7. Just wondering, did you buy the glass or the whole unit? And how much did it cost you? I've got a crack on my passenger side DRL and I've gotta get round to replacing it.
  8. Sorry, it's gotta be all 4 I'm afraid. I gotta make room for my alloys when they come off for the winter :\
  9. including my old 17inch Nexen Winguard sports for those who want a straight swap onto their 17inch wheels. *cough* /shamless plug.
  10. Hi! I'm getting rid of my NEXEN Winguard Sports that lived on my Fabia Monte Carlo for the past 2 winters. The monte carlo has been swapped to a fabia VRS and i recently got a new job in the Derbyshire Peak district, so i'm opting for Steels this winter. They're an awesome tyre that got me out of some serious trouble and left some 4x4s standing. These will be a straight swap onto the Gigaro or Trinity alloys for the fabia. Stored in the shed since winter Only gone thousand miles or so on them. At the time of using them I only really traveled to work which was 5 mins away. Tred depth is good... 6.5mm to 7mm. One tyre has a little chunk that's been taken out of it. Caught my wheel on the tracks of one of them automated car washes that pull you along. Looking for about £150ono Collected from Somercotes in Derbyshire. Or £27 delivered by Paisley freight. (Thanks W14RRN!) Cheers!
  11. I can vouch for rainworth. Next day DPD delivery too and genuine parts etc
  12. I picked up a new VRS in May. After a little while I noticed it was pulling to the left. Took it back to the dealer and the technician took it out for a drive and said yep! It's pulling to the left. Booked it in, they took the wheels off and drove it with a different make of tyre and then went back to skoda who authorised them to replace all the dunlops the car came with and change them to goodyears. The guy on the service desk said skoda says the trouble was the dunlops were omni directional tyres and changing them to directional tyres would do the trick. So far so good, no pulling to the left!
  13. Yepp. See this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/286518-starting-to-look-at-winter-tyresin-august/ If you wanna double check, then send off an email to rainworth skoda parts department before you part with your cash. Email is on the eBay listing.
  14. the 17inch ones? Yes, i did that to my monte for 2 winters and fitted these: http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?s_p=Nexen-WINGUARD-SPORT-205_40-R17-84V-XL&details=Ordern&typ=D-107350&cart_id=89969388.110.18964&ranzahl=4&Breite=205&Quer=40&Felge=17&weiter=0&kategorie=6&Ang_pro_Seite=20&Transport=P&dsco=110&sowigan=Wi&m_s=3&rsmFahrzeugart=PKW cost me £40 a time to swap and replace the tyres onto the alloys. they were good in the derbyshire hills and would certainly keep you going where as the summers would be left standing, but as a budget tyre and running on 17 inches, i never felt quite confident with them especially when it came to driving close to snow covered curbs. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-SKODA-SET-FOUR-4-X-6J-X-15-STEEL-WINTER-WHEELS-6Q0601027M03C-/380704140407?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET&hash=item58a3bc2c77 how cheap is cheap? these brand new steels for £139 seems pretty reasonable to me though i'm sure you could get some second hand ones off ebay then pop on some 195/55/r15 winters on it and then you're set.
  15. about £140 for x4 oem steel wheels at rainworth skoda's ebay shop. though if anyone finds some 15" or 16" oem alloys for around that amount, then i'm all ears. i've been debating between alloys and steels for a while and i really need to make my mind up stat.
  16. Sorry to thread jack, but I have a VRS estate and I was wondering if these would be the right ones? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-SKODA-FABIA-MK2-5J-ESTATE-REAR-MUDFLAPS-KEA720001-/321192083229?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ac88a3f1d Im 99% certain but i Just wanted to make sure before I parted with any cash. Cheers!
  17. I had a Monte Carlo from new in 2012...About 18 months later and just under 12k on the clock I came to the conclusion i really needed extra boot space and I needed to switch from diesel to petrol as my commute to work was only 2 miles a day! This caused the dpf to keep on flashing with errors and I just didn't do the miles for a diesel. So I swapped over to a new vRS estate and of course I had to end the contract early. I was expecting the finance monthly repayment to be stupidly high, but with a 300 pound deposit, the monthly payment only went up en extra fiver! Not bad for a car that costs an extra 5 grand or so. Best thing to do is have a speak with the dealer and see what they can do.
  18. In standard red estate, Crome alloys and parking sensors I got it down to £14,200 on the finance and paid another £500 worth of extras out of my pocket.. I totally forgot about drive the deal when going in to order, but found out shortly after that my dealer was actually cheaper!
  19. Date of registration: May 2013 Colour: red Options fitted: cruise control, heated seats, armrest, chrome alloys, autoglym lifeshine, unexpected full size spare wheel that I didn't spec
  20. My V5 was in my old address when I gave it to my dealer last week, I pointed it out to him and he said it doesn't matter as they're transferring ownership and address anyways.
  21. Got my vRS estate today surprised to find a full sized spare wheel in the boot when I didn't spec it. Found an iPod cable in the glove box but sadly no free bottle of oil. Oh well I'm not fussed, I'm just really pleased about the spare wheel as I totally forgot about ordering it until its build week.
  22. vRS estate arrived today at the dealers and I'm picking up next Tuesday 50 days from order to arriving at dealers. Not bad.
