  1. Hi there, I recently purchased a witter fixed towbar on ebay for £60.00 used. It came off of an Audi but hey-ho...I fitted it myself in about 4 hours. The holes in the chasis are all there and the hardest bit is a small cut in the bumper. The reversing sensors did pick up originally but found that if you remove the plastic cap from the tow-ball the sensors clear and work fine. Now the electrics.... took advice from many, and found conflicts with all. A local towbar company took the job on for me, had it done in 40 mins with dual electrics, no remapping and drove away for 40 quid. There are a lot of people who try to make this job more complicated than it is by quoting fixed wiring looms etc but it can be done from the rear light cluster and a permanent fused supply from the fusebox. Any half tidy fitter will know how to do it....
  2. Hi to all, Ihave a 55 plate estate 1.9 tdi and am experiencing probs with the key fobs. The car will only lock or un-lock if i hold the key over the windscreen, and will not work more than a foot from the car. I have replaced the batteries,(twice for luck), gone through the re-set procedure in the handbook and also one i found on an earlier post on this site. It's starting to be annoying now....Am i being blonde ?
  3. hi i have changed mine without taking out the headlight and by positioning my missus' make-up mirror in various locations! it's tricky but can be done.....
  4. Hi to all! I have a 55 reg octavia estate 1.9 tdi and am having some problems with the remote locking. The key works fine when you are close up to the car, or hold and press over the windscren, but will not work from distance anymore. I have done the obvious and changed the batteries ( twice for luck ) but still not functioning. I have carried out the procedure as per the owners book but still nothing. I have also tried following the link posted up on here but think that may be for an earlier model. Any ideas? It is really starting to anoy me now..... p.s. this is the same with both keys....
