  1. Interesting, mine is now just over 5 years old and have had all 4 replaced. Front OS first last year, tyre fitter found it when replacing a tyre I told them to replace the other side also, then the rear OS this year found when having MOT, replaced the other side as well.
  2. Octavia's have a maximum 75kg noseweight limit, this is the weight the caravan hitch puts on the tow ball. Get a Milenco noseweight gauge to get the correct weight, just adjust the load in the caravan, do not put too much weight in the front caravan locker. Heavy items you do carry in the caravan place over the axle low down, at 60mph on motorways my unit is very stable. Mine has 75kg nosweight, plus a good bit of weight in the car rear, then estates have heavy duty shocks.
  3. 2012 model, 26,400 miles on clock when it failed, Skoda Assist told me around £1,400 to replace. It was done under warranty with only 10 days left on it.
  4. My glow plug light came on and engine went into limp mode on the M5 New Years Eve. Skoda assist called he put his computer on, EGR valve failure told me it would cost £1,400; replaced under warranty had 10 days left on it.
  5. I have Vredestein Quatrac 3 on mine, cannot comment on summer running / economy yet as they were fitted in November. Very good in the wet, slush and snow, however I do have a bit of help from the rear, on a 500 mile round trip to South Wales in the dry, I did find them to have very little road noise. No need to change and no storage problems for wheels.
  6. That's what I have on my Octavia 4x4, Vredestein Quatrac 3 all season tyres; slush, snow and getting a caravan on and off muddy fields with no problem, traction control turned off. M&S and three peak mountain snowflake symbols on.
  7. Interesting post on the link, appears a small pin working loose in the EGR! http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/341827-early-egr-valve-failure-known-problem/
  8. Happened to me News Year’s eve on the M5 going to South Wales, flashing glow plug light came on and engine went into limp mode, Skoda assist put his computer on and said EGR valve failure, 24,600 miles on clock. Got back home in limp mode and took to dealer who replaced under warranty with only 10 days left on it!! It is a big job due to the location of the valve, Skoda assist said around £1,400 to sort! Thank goodness for the warranty.
  9. News Years Eve on the M5 going to South Wales, glow plug light started to flash and car went into limp mode, Skoda Assist confirmed EGR valve failure, 3 years old and 24,600 miles on clock. Replaced under warranty with only 10 days left on it.
  10. Have Vredestein Quatrac 3 on mine, good in snow and on a muddy field getting my caravan off and on.
  11. My 2012 / 61 plate estate 4x4 has a towing limit of 1,600kg, the 2014 model is 2,000kg and about 50kg lighter!
  12. Download the manual on the link: http://new.skoda-auto.com/en/mini-apps/owners-manuals/Pages/octavia-1z.aspx
  13. Prorack Whispbar, quite, stream line, T track to hold bike carriers, roof box on.
  14. No complaints from me, yes very good, even on a muddy field pulling the caravan off. After 8 months of ownership I did actually take it back.............. to Mlada Boleslav to the Skoda museum and factory!
  15. I thought the standard tyre repair kit was a can of gunk with a 12v tyre inflator? I got a full size steel spare for mine as an option, extra £75.00, tyre size 195x65 15 yellow rim with a 50mph speed limit if using it, standard tyres on alloy wheels 205x60 15. However did not get the tyre repair kit
  16. Yes, they do carry a good load, you cannot see the BBQ, gas bottle, (upright and very secure) poles for caravan awning and 2 ton trolly jack. Still within GVW and axle limits.
  17. Can't help with sensors, did not take that option, however did get a dealer fit (ouch, ouch) towbar with 13pin socket and flange fitted with an Alko ball and at time of order towbar prep. At least when the going gets soft 4x4 does help getting off a muddy field when you get your caravan, a very good suggestion from the wife!
  18. I use Flickr, upload, lots of storage for free, then just copy and paste in.
  19. Needs to be done by computer, dealer did mine when it had it's service.
  20. You get a programed regen about every 400-600 miles, the engine revs will go up to 1,000rpm and the radiator fans will kick to clear the heat, lasts about 10mlns, if you switch the engine off and stop the regen, the fans will run for about another 3mins or so. Most of the time you do not know it is happening you only know when in slow moving traffic or stationary, stop the regen too many times then you get a yellow light on.
  21. Dealer activated mine when I took it in for it's service, they do need activating by computer.
  22. Had my first service a few weeks back, 18,500 on the clock and cost £187.99 inc vat, Skoda dealer.
  23. Skoda Museum in the front and the factory is way over to the left. They were doing the museum up when we visited.
