  1. Exactly the same for me too, it's handy too because I can run down to halfrauds if I run out too, that's how i ended up using it. I used to use a flat so how no water supply in the underground car park. I started using optimum no rinse and haven't stopped using it, it's great when you can't be bothered dragging everything out the shed to just give the car a quick wash. It seems your more after something like that that a QD?
  2. I know what you mean, but I imagine there was a point where nobody trusted the Nankangs because they were 'cheap' now they seem to be acceptable to use as a cheap option in the winter. I'm hoping that these can be the same. Thanks for the update, it's good to know they are decent especially over a long period of time. I've taken the risk and ordered a set, if i hate them that much I'll just get them shipped back, I doubt I will have to though.
  3. Also just found the link to a previous thread on them which is what sparked my interest. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/180261-just-fitted-winter-tyresremoulds/ I'll send err Fatbloke a pm and see if he's still got them.
  4. No I know your not and I understand and take on board your comments. I think i'm just trying to be cheap! I have a set of Falken zex912 and parada spec 2's for the summer, for some reason it's harder to spend the money on something that isn't going to be as fun and more for just plodding around in the winter. I need to mull over this one.
  5. It's never ending isn't it! Replied and sold! Sorry Getulus, Ian just got in there before you I'm afraid. There is a couple of sets on ebay albeit a bit more expensive. Both now sold
  6. Cheers John, your map definitely made the biggest difference! Haha it is low, to be honest i raised it up.. but then put 15's on so it went lower again! Nope didn't bottom out once even coming down from lodge onto the pit straight, the JOMs did surprisingly well!
  7. No your right they aren't the best in the wet, when the track had a dry line they were much better! One thing I didn't do was time my lap, I was more concerned with getting round I'll definitely have to next time, and get a camera mount sorted! Thanks I think I've got the track addiction now though lol. Haha! Next track day in the Vrs then?
  8. Pm'd Felicia! sharkrider - I don't have any part numbers etc, probably not worth chancing it, Mr Felicia is happy to have them too. Getulus - Yep they're genuine.
  9. Thanks Would have been good to see your vrs going round However we did all comment on how nice your rallye was, don't see many about! I did! Definitely a challenge especially how slippy it was out there. Will have to try and join a briskoda one next year. I'd like to try the Anglesey circuit.
  10. Yeh!.. Joking aside, I'd like to know why if you don't rate them? Mytyre test gives them 4 out of 4 stars
  11. I'm not too sure if the mk2 uses the same wishbone design as the mk1?
  12. For sale is a pair of rear mudflaps, I've not fitted them to the car and decided against it £20 delivered. A pair of polybush mounts for the front bushes on the wishbone, also brand new. I thought there was play in mine but ended up being a knackered console mount.. Never a cheap fix :( £20 delivered
  13. I won't be spending a couple of hundred quid more though, it's either cheap winter rubber or keep my usual good summer tyres on. I don't have kids etc which I understand gives you a much higher safety tolerance. I do worry about the wet grip though and with hardly any reviews it's hard to decide.
  14. They've done a pretty good job there! I do about 50 miles a day, mostly motorway. I only plod along at 60mph though.
  15. What are your views on remoulds and in particular these from mytyres.co.uk I'm considering a cheap set of winters this year and came across these. I found an old review on here and they were quite happy with them. Read up on remoulds and nowadays they seem to be made pretty well, downside is they can be a bit heavier and take more weight to balance. Anyone else had them? It's either these or nankang sv2's. I'm tempted to try these though because they're cheap!
  16. I find a lot are a pain to use. Try the autoglym one, to be honest I think its perfect!
  17. Horrible when something like that happens :( If you need a hand with any marks I've got a polisher! Liking the progress, looking smart!
  18. I had some fun with the VRS on Friday, I did the track day at Oulton park with a few mates.. I think it was the most fun I've ever had and was very very impressed with the car To get ready for track I fitted yellow stuff pads, ate super blue fluid. Finished refurbing the Bbs solitude wheels and fitted yoko parada tyres.. Oh and a Faboka remap! Took a quick pic of what I fitted before it all went on. Here's a few pics from the day, I've got more on the girlfriends slr but will have to get them off her. I found a video on YouTube with an m5 following me and overtaking when I caught another car up. I've been to the ring twice but never a proper track day. It was wet for half the day but gave me chance to push the limits at slower speeds, a mate showed me the lines and I also took the free tuition on offer which helped me even more. I built up my confidence over the day and was pretty happy with myself at the end, still got plenty more to improve on though! I think the highlight of the day for me was overtaking 3 Porsche 911's in a row after pushing them round and not letting me and my mate past, until the Marshall's blue flagged them! I'm sure it would have been a different story with better drivers.
  19. I've just used the same on mine, 1 litre was plenty.
  20. Gave in and picking one up from TPS Not going to have the cupra bush though :(
  21. If I order the console mount from SEAT for the ibiza pd160, does anyone know if it will come with the uprated bush? Or is this a part that was only in the petrol cupra? Can anyone get me a part number as I imagine it will be a pain without a reg or chassis number.
  22. Nope :( yeh I think that's happened too actually, definitely not perfectly round
  23. Thought I'd make a last minute cry for help on here before tomorrow. I've got a track day booked Friday and discovered a knocking the other day, it looked like the front bush on the wishbone, sp got some polybushes and took it off tonight, found out it's because when my rear seat cupra console bushes were fitted and the wishbone was put back on it was cross threaded :( It seems to have come loose over time and now has play. My only real option is to order a new one from SEAT or Skoda and fit it Thursday because I don't have time to find a second hand one and wait for delivery. I thought I'd ask if anyone near the Wirral/Liverpool happens to have a spare offside one lying around that I could pick up asap? Such bad timing with the track day, but its normally the way! haha
  24. Wanted to add that mines been mapped by him too now. I work not too far away from John so went and tried the more conservative map and the quicker map. I wanted to have a go at putting the map on myself so he was happy to send me the map file and give me a few pointers along the way. I've got the 170bhp 310 ft/lb map and it's really smooth and pulled all the way up the revs, best thing is it hardly smokes! My mates had an awesome gti map which threw out all sorts, I'd go for Johns map every time.
  25. Cheers! I had the colour made up for the calipers but I don't think its perfect, slightly too light. It was completely wound down at one point but its very stiff and can't have anyone in the back. At the moment the fronts are about 2cm from the bottom and the rears have the cup in place without the adjustable piece on. I went to the ring with 3 people in the car and full of luggage at this height and was fine, almost practical
