  1. I m trying to choose between the Thule Wingbar Edge and the Whispbar as in these ones : http://www.shop1auto.com.au/Roof_Rack_Models/BUYONLINE/Thule_9584_WingBar-Edge_roofracks.html and http://www.roofbox.co.uk/scripts/rbvehsel4_tab.php/car-specific-accessories/prorack_whispbar_85cm_aero_x_rail_bars_2_no_prs44/Qx%40w%2C6M4%2CME%7D%40nkCu5P5zqBAFAwnzVTgozjqeVfI%7DwRRYIB.wb3dsVqHwJhAsjV4 I want to leave the bars on the whole time (storage issues) but can anyone tell me if they have these and can operate the panoramic sunroof - neither Thule nor Roofbox can tell me! Thanks in advance!
  2. I have the sunroof and have to say that haven't really used it that much (especially this summer!!) and in fact on a hot day on a long drive I need the blind closed! As for the Auto boot, I specc'd it but it was missed off so I got great reduction as well as some advice (not from dealer! but industry expert) that it is component that is really expensive to fix if it fails in later life ( I'm keeping mine for a very very long time I hope!) if any of that helps. The advances in electronic wizadry being made in VAG seen in Audi and UP! etc like HUD, night vision, city emergency braking etc make me think that in about 3- 5 years there will be some really useful and thought through drivers aids for all! (at sensible prices!)
  3. Any suggestions on how to store them outside if you don't have enough inside space?
  4. I m going to go with the Nokian All Weather Plus in 225/40/18. Thinking is that I am not an early morning rural commuter so hopefully these should deal with a southern UK urban winter and any long (prob to French Alps) drives I might undertake (currently none planned, but will have to carry Autosocks as well anyway). On a 4x4 estate. Web link here: http://www.nokiantyr...All+Weather+%2B If i did higher miles and lived up hill I might go more full on. I did want to get the Vredstein Quadrac 3 but couldn't see them in my size - then I did (despite Vred website saying not correct!!) but only after I had ordered them!! Going for Goodyear Vector 4Seasons on the Touran as well.

  6. Just done France and back 2000 miles in the V6 with 5 and 7 year old with separate iPads and also DS. Getting films on is a pain but feasible. Used the Griffin limited volume headphones. Lots of wires but kept everyone v happy!!! (Combined with music max faded to the front of the cabin!! ) I would def go for a PSP/iPad/iTouch type solution. Sorts your Xmas present problems out as well!! I did use a Philips Headrest system off Amazon for £200 with monitors but it blew its fuse on one monitor on start up - as you can imagine, nothing like one child with a screen and one without! (wasn't the Skoda, was an 04 Touran). Pass on any good tips you might find please and good luck with a great new car.
  7. Personally I've never understood the "badging craze". I don't understand what they are there for -the mechanic? The salesman? To remind you it's diesel or petrol? Removing it means I get less people driving up my a*** to see what I m driving, so I think that helps me. But as you say, everyone's choice.
  8. I got the dealer to do it pre-delivery. They had no problem, just wanted to know if whether I wanted the whole lot or just the model type.
  9. I know I never got back to say Thank You for all your help on this as a group - but Thank you anyway. I had to leave town for a couple of weeks and couldn't get onto the internet etc. The conclusion to story is I have agreed a useful compensation for no electric boot and and the very happy driver of a new Combi - thanks again for all the advice etc... (P.s. - conclusion - there is always a deal to be done....)
  10. There is a button to activate it, just below the parking sensor button in the gearbox surround. ...just pm'd you re my experience!
  11. Any ideas on SMS /Texts working with Columbus/iPhone 4 yet? everything else works so well!!
  12. "When I bought my car I specced it with all the toys that I wanted and then looked at the final price and compared that to what I could buy for that amount elsewhere with the same spec, the answer kept coming back the same - a 3 year old car V's a new Superb." Exactly what I THOUGHT my position was. Over 8-10 years I m sure i ll discover it may not have been worth it but at £50-60 p.a. (or a £5 a month - thats about a £1 a week - not a lot compared to a £2.50 Cappuccino etc...) Now I have seen a few You Tube videos on the Electric Boot I think i might manage without if push comes to shove - its just going to depend on the size of the shove....(apologies to all non English Mother Tongue posters, its a sort of "don't sit on the fence" idiom). Thanks for all your comments , they have been very helpful both individually and as a whole. I think I'll reach a conclusion one way or the other by early next week for a delayed delivery later in the week if we can find a satisfactory conclusion.
  13. I didn't negotiate a discount when I placed the order, I agreed to pay the price that it was offered at, ie the widely marketed "we pay your VAT" campaign. But I take your point. I didn't "genuinely forget" - I changed my mind, like a lot of people do, after reading forums like this and talking to people. It made me more attached to this particular option in fact rather than say KESSY. But I am trying to keep the emotion out of it - I could cope with the car, but I will be driving around in it forever wishing I had the electric boot. I have been asked by the dealer to tell him what I would like him to do, which is why I am here asking you guys. At the mo' I am very much minded to reject it - I can wait till next year if needs be.
  14. I've had a Superb Estate 3.6 v6 Elegance 4x4 on order since March with a load of options: Park Assist, Sunset Glass, Heated seats, windscreen nozzles, MDI, Kessy, 3 spoke steering wheel and a few others. A month into the order I added Electric Tailgate and got a correctly drawn up order sheet to that effect. (I only mention this as it is not clear whether it is the infamous Skoda ordering computer or dealer error. Dealer says Skoda error) Needless to say the car has now arrived as is missing the electric tailgate. I have told the dealer I am thinking about rejecting the car and we have agreed to talk again in the next day or so. I don't have to have the car right now (continue to operate a family runabout which we intend to keep). Financing is not part of the issue. I would be happy to own this car at this spec, but not at the new price. I intend keeping it for 8-10 years. What do you think the correct discount (or package) would be in this situation given that it strikes me that it isn't a vehicle with particularly high demand? Looking forward to your views!
