  1. theres a place in shenstone just up the road from you £150 quid fitted works well too
  2. i got the roof bars but swapped car to the saloon without fixing points so they just lying around in the shed lol till i get another estate
  3. strange if DPF a light would come on normally unless its been removed at some point or the bulb on the dash could have blown a rare event but not impossible
  4. sgothuk= steve Rugeley Mk2 oOctavia Vrs saloon 2008 deisel delivery driver for automotive trade
  5. At long last i have my car back it was a dead G28 crank sensor and the cost to be done at main skoda dealers is around £280 not an easy job as the sensor is inside the gearbox housing which has to be removed to gain access many thanks for your help im back on the road again
  6. thanks freedom ill get in touch with my local garage on Monday
  7. Not sure where this belongs so ill start here. Today Sunday the 20th i took my car out for a run after half a mile the engine stalled and EPC light came on and stayed on managed to get car started and returned to home only to see another light come on (the one that looks like an engine block) this is puzzling me as my car has been running perfectly any ideas would be appreciated its an Octavia Vrs estate on an 03 plate. 54000 miles on the clock
  8. sounds like some bushes on the suspension might be on the way out causing the car to bottom out when you hit the potholes i had the same problem on my car once the bushes replaced no more knocking
  9. ok my take on the speed sensors from what i knw the sensors on the side of the road that show what speed your doing are in some cases DELIBERATELY set 1-2 mph lower than the actual speed limit and your speedo is deliberately set to show your faster than you actually are so although your speedo says 70 for example you are actually travelling at around 65-68 mph the indicated speed on the dash is not always acurate so i always drive to indicated speed on the dash except for track days when i let the beast have a bit of fun. So basically drive to indicated speed on your dash and never get a ticket.
  10. just remember replacing a windscreen counts as a claim on most insurance policies and could increase premiums for the following year they dont tell you that in the small print
  11. sometimes the shower curtain behind the door card wears letting in water to the carpets i had the same problem on my Vrs and when really cold it freezes jusat like on the outside when we have a good frost i have to leave a window cracked open a couple of mil to let airflow inside the car that stops the windows fogging on the inside also check for any damp carpets in main cabin and boot as you could have a damaged door seal (the rubber strip around all doors) look for any moisture or water lying on the bottom of the door seals too all it needs is a pin hole and you will have a swimming pool in no time CHECK THE RUBBER BUNGS ALONG THE BOTTOM OF THE SILL I FOUND I HAD 3 MISSING ON MY CAR ALL REPLACED NO MORE MOISTURE PROBLEM
  12. My views on Cannock dealership I have been the owner of a Skoda now for almost 15+ years and have always used them for sevicing and repairs (previous car felicia est.) I have never had any problems with any aspect of servicing or repairs of my cars (except maybe the prices ) ALL times the repairs have been carried out they have come in on time and on budget and will continue to use them ALL Cars wherever possible are fully road tested BEFORE handing back to the customer MAILSHOTS come from the Bilston dealership NOT Cannock and as for stuff failing as soon as it leaves the dealership i cant see that ever happening the staff and mechanics are true professionals and KNOW what they are doing under the bonnet of a car
  13. £30 quid sounds about right for the thermostat switch best bet is to get it fitted by a dealer at least you will have a warranty with it as for finding reliable parts in a scrap yard they are out there and good luck with that line of thought however will it be a reliable part? will it work as it should? you pays your money and takes a chance and yes Skoda Audi WV are all owned by the same parent company each engine has its own tweaks depending on model so you are partly right on that
  14. no point modifying it just bumps up the insurance costs and the car in my book is pretty damn quick as it is and if you dont tell insurers what mods youve done and have a bump they dont want to know
