  1. Thanks for the advice guys. I've been fiddling with the various toys this morning and have now managed to get the mirrors to fold. Seems to work if I leave the control stick in the "0" position.
  2. Sorry guys, I know I must be being thick here, but my car refuses to fold the mirrors when I hold down the lock button. It will happily fold them using the control stick on the door, but I've tried various combinations of holding the lock button, and nowt. Even tried holding the unlock button, but then all the windows drop. As I say, sorry to labour a question, but any ideas what I'm doing wrong? David
  3. No, I'm doing a tour of Scotland next year and fully intend to take photos of the car in front of places like Stirling castle, Loch Ness, and the like.
  4. Congratulations. I picked mine up today as well. Great isn't it?
  5. I've spent the last 4 years in a Peugeot 307SW. Oh how I'd have dreamed of seeing 40 MPG! Such a pity I have to go into work tomorrow. Its sitting there.......calling me......it wants a trip.........I hear Scotland's nice this time of year......
  6. I'm David. I'm 39, and I picked up my first Skoda Superb (in fact my first Skoda) today! I turn 40 in a few months and decided I wanted to treat myself to a new car. I've spent the last 15 months looking at options (I'm a Civil Servant, we like to plan) and during that time I've test driven everything from Land Rover to Lexus. Been through the Mercs, the Beemers, the Audis, the Jags, plus all the "mainstream" brands. Considered SUVs, MPVs, Coupes, Cabriolets, Saloons, Hatches, the lot. In the end it came down to some simple truths. I'm by no means an old fart. I want a car that looks good and purposeful and delivers strong performance as well. But I'm not a boy racer either and some of these cars just try to hard these days. I don't want to be shaken to bits by rock hard suspension over every bump, and I really couldn't care less if its 3 seconds faster around the Nurburgring than its competitors. Also, I'm a big lad. I'm over 6ft and I'm.....generously.... built. In most cars that means people can't really sit comfortably behind me. Then I found the Superb. It looks great without shouting about it, its got more toys than a branch of Hamleys, the 2.0TDI(170) engine I have pulls like a train, and with the seat in my driving position even I can sit behind myself. Its a no brainer. I picked up my Elegance Estate this morning. I couldn't be happier driving it at 39, and if they had been making them at 21 (and if I could have afforded it) I'd have had one then.
  7. Sorry if this seems like a Newbie question, but can someone explain this "press the key fob" thing. I picked my car up today and the dealer didn't mention this. I was told to swivel the control stick on the door into the "fold" position.
  8. I picked up my Superb 170 DSG Elegance today!!! Drove it back 160 (roughly) miles from Lincoln to Kent and I was quite impressed by how little the needle moved down the gauge, especially as I wasn't taking it easy. As I go on I'll be interested to see what mileage I get, but right now I am having far too much fun fiddling with all the wonderful toys to care. It really is an awesome car though.
  9. Update I picked my car up today! Superb Estate 2.0 TDI (170) DSG Elegance in Steel Grey with Onyx black leather, and tinted glass. The car is incredible. Right now I have a grin on my face that would shame a Cheshire Cat.
  10. Will do. Seen a couple coming up for sale in August, so all being well... Does anyone know the usual price of the spare wheels? I want to try to get the dealer to throw one in as part of the deal, as I'd prefer to have that, rather than the can of foam.

  12. Hello all First post on the forum. Decided to join after spending visiting the site several times over the last few months whilst deciding on what car I hope to get myself between now and October. The views and advice you've offered to other members has been very helpful in narrowing it down for me, and in giving me some useful questions to ask the various dealers I've been pestering over the last few months. All being well and working out the way I intend, I've decided I'm going after a Superb Elegance 2.0 TDI 170 DSG. Looking ideally to find an ex demo car about 6 months old. I'll let you know how I get on Dave
