Always time for a car

Mine has just started doing this and your suggestions are most appreciated

My previous superb was FWD and as usual it was a bit of a pain getting away from junctions /roundabouts etc in wet and greasy conditions.None of that with the 4x4, sure in snow it was fantastic, especially with the winter tyres fitted. All in all the extra feeling of security and reliable grip in almost all conditions far outweighs the slightly lower MPG. I don't know what my next car will be in about a years time will be, but I reckon it will be a 4x4 again.

My winters are coming off tomorrow. I must agree that soaking wet roads mean that the winters were worth the investment this year although the smug feeling as you coast up a snowy slope was sadly missing this year!

That's the most pathetic excuse I have ever heard from a dealer. I take it that their car valeter only uses a mains pressure hose and a bucket and sponge!, I dont think so! Every second person who owns a car owns a pressure washer of some type and car manufacturers always state in their manual to beware of these cleaning tools due to possible damage but then they sell thousands of cars to hire companies who as you well know wash the cars between punters VERY BADLY using nasty chemicals and power washers. Poor paintwork is always a problem which every manufacturer tries to avoid liability for under warranty. A stone chip on a properly painted car should remain a stone chip, ok it may allow rust to form if it is deep enough on metal if not addressed but on plastic water should not begin to penetrate if the paint adheres to the car properly. MANUFACTURING FAULT end of story. As I said earlier! AUTO EXPRESS. My Superb is washed every week and I use a hot water pressure washer and I have no problem so the fault is with the car. Good luck!

Contact Auto Express and tell them your problems. They seem to be on good terms with Skoda U.K. (Awards etc) so they will not ignore them. Also change dealer and name and shame!

I have quite the opposite. I run standard size 18" Vredestein wintrac extremes during the winter and I get an average of 5mpg more on the winters on a decent run. Most likely because i drive a little cannier so I do not deplete the tread too quickly.

Dash rattle also, especially since the weather is getting cooler, otherwise no issues at all. Heated windscreen is a great asset if fitted.

Another one bites the dust! My current Superb is the first specimen (touch wood ) that has not had to have a replacement unit under warranty. Sadly you appear to be out of warranty so some of the other recovery methods mentioned by the wiser members of the forum will be the only way forward! Good luck!

I was £100 for a first service from the nice people at Specialist cars Dundee and they supplied the Longlife oil.

Classic mistake of just putting two snow tyres on. As well as stability there is the case for rear wheel braking on snow and Ice. you must be able to stop as well as go!!

Never heard of them, although their tyres are good. I wonder if the VW dealerships have the same headache? or do we get the second rate units perhaps?

The columbus unit is on the whole excellent and easy to used for a non-technical minded person like me, but it is seriously flawed in the reliability and quality department. My previous two Skoda's have both had units replaced under warranty and I am pretty sure that my current car is going to have the same scenario. Skoda would have been better getting the cheapest Chinese electronics company to supply the units since they probably would be more reliable than current supplier (whoever they are).

I do quite a low mileage and I wish I had gone for a petrol Superb. Don't get me wrong, I love the 170 cr engine in the car but if I was keeping the car more than the 3 years which I intend I would start to worry about the DPF due to the amount of short journeys I do. I must agree that petrol blue is a great colour.

My previous Superb was Rosso Brunello and when clean (as mentioned) and when sun is shining it looks great, otherwise it looks dull, even brownish in some conditions. What really got to me was my in-laws called it "maroon"!! Just like their Austin Maxi in the 70's! I now have a Petrol blue Superb and everyone says the colour is beautiful (even when a bit grubby!

Difficult decision. I would look at how tricky the wheels are to clean and have a good look at the colour of the leather in real life. The toys spec list on the L&K fantastic.I will be changing mine in about 18 months and i will be in the same predicament!!

Sorry to hear of your problems. These climate problems always seem to happen when the weather gets hot!. just like toothache when the dentist is closed!!

I find the same problem. I have my climate set at 20 degrees and it seems to become a little confused at this temp. It only decides to go into action when there is an extreme in hot or cold inside temp.

Were you making good progress i.e. staying around the speed limits when you got this reading?
