  1. I bought my 170 Elegance new in 2011 and it has been problem free. However, I haven't used it for a couple of months and thought it would be useful to charge the battery. Is there a particular point on the body to attach the negative clamp, or will anywhere do?
  2. I asked if the filter had been changed and was told that unlike the DSG, the Haldex doesn't have a filter.
  3. Now that's exactly the answer I was looking for. Many thanks.
  4. This is what I received Your ŠKODA is an intricate, finely-tuned piece of engineering. A prime example is your all-wheel-drive system’s electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, and our records tell us it’s about time yours had some routine maintenance. Your drive system uses a high-grade oil to protect and lubricate it and the only way to ensure it stays ticking along nicely is to change the oil and filter every now and then. The cost is £69 for 4x4 transmission oil change.
  5. No, it is a manual box.
  6. I bought my Yeti new in 2011 and the same dealer has carried out all the servicing (variable). I have just received an email telling me that it is time for the 4x4 transmission oil to be changed. I thought that changing any oil was part of the regular servicing, but apparently that is not so. The car has done 66000 miles and I wonder if this oil change should have been carried out some time ago? I am also concerned that there might be other maintenance of which I am not aware.
  7. Had my Yeti for five and a half years and had no problems at all. By far and away the best car that I have owned. Driven 59000 miles and look to keep it for as long as I can.
  8. I have had this phone for about a month. Initially no problems, but for the past two weeks, the phone book won't load to the Bolero. This means that I cannot use the presets. Has anyone had a similar problem? Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve it?
  9. I have just replaced the four original Dunlop tyres after two and a half years and 30,000 miles. I was impressed with how well they had worn and the low noise, so I bought more of the same.

    Tyres

I have just replaced all four of my Dunlop SP01 tyres after 30,000 miles and pretty even wear. I found this to be better than I expected. I thought about buying one of the cheaper brands, but I have found them noisy in the past, so I went for the Dunlops again at £600 fitted. Frightening when I see the cost in writing!
  11. I heard on 'You and yours' and read in the news paper, that the 7% bio diesel that is now added, is causing some fuel filters to become blocked and the car going into limp mode. This applies to all diesel of whatever brand. This results in a repair bill of £150 to £200. My fuel cap is clearly marked 'No Bio Diesel', so how big a problem is this going to be if all diesel contains bio. How will this affect warranty claims if the engine is damaged?
  12. My wife has just bought a new Mazda 2 and I too, looked for a forum, expecting something similar to this one. I found a couple that were US based and with few postings. Nothing to compare to Briskoda. Is it Briskoda or the Yeti owners that make this forum so active? It could be that it is the car that is special.
  13. Many thanks for all the info. Looks like the tin of sweets will have to be subject to negotiation!
  14. My wife is changing her car and likes a deal with 'free servicing'. Can someone tell me if these deals cover the oil and filters etc or just the labour. I know that this isn't a strictly Yeti question, but the Search box and Forums didn't produce an obvious alternative.
  15. The auto lights come on when I start the car in the garage and usually go off a few seconds after I am on the road. From time to time they stay on for around five minutes, even in bright sunlight. I just figure that it is one of those things that I am not meant to understand. I don't assign gender to my cars, but perhaps my Yeti is female?
