  1. Hey all SO last night i noticed that when i turned on my A/C fan that i was getting a loud hissing from the vents. If i increased the temp it then stopped after getting to a hi temp. With the A/C on it made the noise irrespective of what level of fan it was on and also it made it for a slight while after switching it off. Does this sound like it needs a re-gas or something more sinister? To be honest the air still felt fairly cold but no where near as when i bought it
  2. Hi All The so call "geniuses" at my local motor factors provided me with some discs and paps fro my mk2 octy. I fitted them and whilst on the passenger side I noted there was no Ware sensor on any of the pads they provided. Undeterred I though sod it i've spent a few hours getting this far I will see what happens. My brake warning like is on the dash. I probably know the answer to this already but would not having a ware sensor plugged in would that cause the light. Is there any way to fudge it if that is the cause or am i going to have to take them back and get a replacement set?
  3. Ok so i went to a garage who offered to listen to it for me He said it sounds like an electric motor of some description but want £60 plus vat to look further. what electric motors are there in the engine bay?
  4. I haven't but looking around forums i cannot see anyone else reporting the same issue with the valve. Mostly people saying about poor idling or fuel consumption.
  5. Hi, did you have any specific symptoms which led you to ask this?
  6. This is frustrating me now lol, i seem many posts about similar but no-one has ever got to the bottom of the issue. I will have another try at explaining it and what I tried so far. So when the engine gets up to temperature I notice a squeel / schreech noise this noise often gets a little louder and immediately back to a dull squeel. I doubt it's a belt and i'l explain why further down. I listed with the old screwdriver trick and the noise seemed more noticeable when place on the alternator. I spent £166 on a new on to find it wasn't that lol. It was then that i realise something else. When i pull up on the drive and its making the constant squeel / schreech I shut the engine off and then as soon as its off the noise continues for about 3 seconds. I say continues once the engine is off its sounds more like i loud chirp than a squeel and that to me rules out any belts or bearing as when i shut the engine off everything stops. The chirping gets quieter and quieter and is then replaced by a loud hiss which again gets quieter until gone

All I am left thinking is its some kind of valve or pipe
  8. Did you ever sort this? I noticed on mine the other day that as driving along the noise I can only describe as a squeel / schreech happens intermittntly. I does not matter if i am under load or cruising or driving slow the noise seems constant but intermittent will go load then back to a low pitch squeel / screech again When i then park up the noise is constant. I sound from the alternator at first which I swapped to no joy, belts all look in good nick and no player in any of the bearings. I don't however think it is mechanical because when i shut the engine off it chirps quite loudly for a few seconds and slowly gets quieter until all that is left is a loud hiss which again gets quieter and quieter I have also check the water pump by taking the coolant tank cap off and leaving it running. Apparently that is a good way to diagnose a bad water pump. I am now completely at a loss at what it could be. I see much talk about the EGR valve and also a turbo valve. Any ideas are welcome cheers
  9. I checked my water earlier and i think it has dropped slightly but not so much it could be a leak
  10. Well bad news chaps I think I had a look at the issue earlier tonight and the noise is like a squeel but its from the opposite side of the engine When i start the engine it seems ok but when its driven for a little while the noise starts and is constant even if you leave it idling in neutral. The worrying thing is that when i then turn the engine off there seems to be a loud hissing noise from the same area of the engine for 30 seconds to a minute before it slowly starts to quieten down and stop altogether Really got me worried this has :(
  11. Water pump was changed at the same time as the cam belt and coolant changed last services. (12 months ago) Its interesting you mention the coolant as the last 2 really cold mornings my coolant light has been flashing. After looking around people put it down to a dodgy sensor as the level are ok and coolant is good to -28 on the last services
  12. So this morning i was half way to work and sat in traffic. I could here a real low level, constant squeel noise. One i got to some open road i realised it was my car that was making the noise. I had cambelt change 1 yr ago (15000 miles) it has a rough sounding start motor which i am told by a Skoda master technician is a common issue on the tfsi engines. Not sure if it's relevant but it was also -2 this morning Anyone got any other suggestions?
  13. Yes i red the posts on that but i cannot see anything on the tyres. The noise seems too similar to me not to be bearings. Did you fit the bearings yourself?
  14. Hi guys Apologies if this has already been covered but i cannot seem to find this on the forum. I believe my rear bearings are on the way out as i am getting a dreadful droning sound from them. They have done about 60k miles. I have not jacked it up to check for any play in them yet but the road noise is gradually getting worse I have a mkII vrs 57 year. I would like various bits of info. Is there any online guide i can follow for the change? Is it best to just get a bearing kit or can i replace the hub? Any special tool needed? Any links to reasonably priced part companies for hub / bearing kits? Thanks in advance
  15. Cheers guys, I am due for a service soon and i take it to a garage where they are Skoda master technicians so i'm going to ask them for advice. i'll keep the post updated with anything they find
