  1. Thanks for all your replies - I think that I am going to go for it !! Also thinking about a Whiteline rear ARB to help the handling - good idea?
  2. Small world, I used to work for Norwich Union in Clarendon Road about 12 years ago
  3. I have a petrol 2007 Octavia vRS which I am thinking about a remap. I know that whoever I choose to go with will give me extra power and torque but I am interested to know how the car will drive and feel during normal driving rather then just acceleration. A lot of people have posted comments that it transforms the car but how exactly. Sorry, but never had a car mapped before
  4. I remember reading somewhere that when VW designed and tested the Golf V they optimised ride and handling based on 17" wheels . I wanted a vRS on 17" as after driving one with 18" while it looked (slightly) better, I didn't think that the ride and handling was as good.
  5. Hi I am looking at getting a remap for my vRS and have done lots of research but can find no real reference to a company called R-Tech Power. They get very good reviews on the Golf/Audi forums yet I can't seem to find out to much about them on here although there are a few posts. I even looked at a poll that was on here some time ago re mapping and their name was not on the list. I understand that most people go to Shark/Revo but it just seems strange that they are talked about on the other VAG forums but not much here. Does anyone from here have any experiences with them?
  6. The same thing has happened on my car. Went to check the oil and no cap but I am sure that it was there last time I looked !!
  7. The same thing happens on my Octavia. I did read on here that over time the contacts that monitor the coolant can get dirty/corroded and this can cause a problem. I believe if you give them a clean it may sort things out. Mine is at the dealers at the moment having some other work done and I have left the car there over night so that in the morning they can see the problem for themselves.
  8. If you want a cheaper option you could try a Parrot CK3100 for about £165.00 fully fitted. I haven't got one but looked into it a while ago.
  9. Another vote for Uniroyal Rain Sports. I also had cheap 'ditch finders' that were scary in the wet and after lots of research decided on the Uniroyals. They are fantastic tyres and I paid about £111 each fitted by Event - http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/ They gave a good service and offer a discount if you buy 4 tyres Hope this helps
  10. You could take a picture of the damaged wheel and send it to a couple of refrurb companies for a quote. Having mine done soon at £60.00 but had quotes of £65.00 and £75.00!!
  11. Mine does the same thing.. and I thought I was the only one!
  12. Hi Just looking at getting some new tyres. My current tyres have a load index of 94 but my spare has a load of 91. Having looked around tyres of a load index of 91 are cheaper than the 94 or XL type. Can i use tyres that have a load index of 91 on my petrol Vrs ? thanks
  13. Thanks for all your replies and fair comments. However I am a little worried that I have given the impression that I am some sort of traffic light tyre smoking racer. It has only really happened when I have had to pull out from a busy junction etc and had to use abit more gas to do. Looks like a change of front tyres may be needed!
  14. Just need a quick answer to something please. I have recently noticed that under hard acceleration in first and second gear my traction control symbol lights up even in dry road conditions Is this normal or are my front tyres (General Tyres Altimax UHP) so poor that they can't cope? My car is a standard Vrs petrol Thanks,
  15. Johnny at Chipex has provided me with a discount code after I made an enquiry with them for one of their stone chip repair kits. For someone like me who doesn't want to sand their car after applying paint this kit looks pretty easy to use. For 15% off type in the discount code Briskoda http://www.chipex.co.uk/
