Flat Battery in Key Fob - Warning
Update: I saw a low battery key warning on the screen last week... which kicked in my "change all the batteries now paranoia"! All 4 (3 keys and immobiliser fob) were swapped for new Duracell CR2032s, which I did annually on both previous VW Golfs, and it was also just before service, so another minor cost avoided. I tend to buy a pack of 10 from Amazon so I have them on hand, and ... they have a longer lifespan than their annual use.

PHEV service intervals
If you are on a Service Contract, you can do an annual fixed 12-month, 10,000-mile servicing, my Superb IV estate 1.5 TSI/25Kwh has just gone in at 9 months and 10,700 miles, as we recently got back from touring France and will average down until next summer. This has always my preference, although the petrol engine has probably only run for no more than 70% of the time; I prefer the full annual inspection, which came with a video of all of the underside verifying no damage to any of the components/covers or leaks of the shock absorbers, a full tyre condition report and new oil/filter all documented across a circa 60 point proforma. They didn't check the tyre sealant because the boot was full, partly with a loose space saver, so I am double covered in any case. Given it's a big, complex car, I would not want to leave any of this for 2 years? Trans City also got to the bottom of a rogue Electric/Hybrid switching problem (user error with the App) and changed my number plate for £24, as I had applied for a DVLA change in the morning and had the eV948 form.

Spurious Emergency Stops
Our Nov 2025 registered Superb does this; I assume the build date is summer 2025. After two emergency stops for no apparent reason, approaching roundabouts, we have been lucky not to end up rear-ended. We now turn off emergency front braking before EVERY journey and lane assist. We are both competent drivers with 25+ years' experience each have circa 300,000 no-accident miles including driving in the EU; we do not use our phones at the wheel as they are safely stored in pockets or bags and connected by Bluetooth, but we observe plenty who choose otherwise. After two near misses, we also have front and rear dashcams that record on an 11-hour loop, which would be a better standard installation than Front Emergency Braking, which is more likely to be the cause of an accident, which I would expect insurance companies to prove and then claim back costs from VAG?

Hybrid IV Artifical Intelligence?
We are currently travelling in France after purchasing our Superb Sportline IV last month. I put the car on charge in Le Chartre-sur-le Loir yesterday, just outside Le Mans, at a bargain public charge price of 30 euro cents per Kw to 90% or 19.61 kWh, and headed off to Angouleme, a circa 200-mile drive. Charge points just above the top left of the roof of the car. The car almost refused to use electricity for the lower speeds when we were heading for the A28 and then used it sparingly until we passed Tours. Once we were rerouted by the Sat Nav after Poitiers to avoid congestion on the A10, the hybrid system kicked in with almost full electric drive for the detour, albeit at lower speeds of up to 80 km/h and then returned to standard intermittent used all the way to Anguoleme, where the hybrid battery was fully depleted (we also toped up with 25l of E5 enroute), on arrival. This is very different behaviour when we use it at home, where it will use up all of the electricity first; I did notice the “Foot off your Accelerator” was regularly complemented with high levels of hybrid regen to “brake” the car down when approaching roundabouts and certain complex junctions. So my observation is that the battery used is very intelligent and would appear to be mapped to the Sat Nav destination and expected road conditions, we achieved a combined 78.5 mpg and we are near fully loaded! Using the Electroverse App from Octopus, which finds more charging points than the Chargemap App, which I also have an account for. The Superb Combi is now resting for a few days until we head off to the Dordogne, where I will attempt an enroute 100% Tesla charge and report back.

Flat Battery in Key Fob - Warning
My in-laws had this with their S-Max once when they had it (full of children after swimming) and again when I had it a few weeks later. Four hours for a recovery call-out, but managed to find a battery to replace the IKEA one in the fob!. I replace my CR2032 on all keys annually just before the service and only with a Duracell .....And have put their 10-year-old in charge of doing the same for their car keys!

Hello From 2013!
Hi Folks, Rejoined, as a paying member this time! Sadly, I had to sell my Yeti 4X4 in 2013, but I have been waiting for a hybrid with a decent amount of electric range and have hankered over a Superb estate for a very long time! So the time eventually came, as I traded in my VW R-Line e-TSI Golf yesterday for a near fully loaded Superb iV after a decent test drive. Have an Electroverse card, joined Chargemap as we are off to France in June, and my sister, who has a Q4 e-Tron, is insisting I download the Tesla App to access the Supercharging network! Can't charge at home as we have a flat, but any tips on public charging will be very much appreciated, as well as for navigating the infotainment system. A
