  1. I'll be doing my cam belt soon, as I have no record of it being done in the past. Are pattern parts available for this, or is it advisable to get the genuine part? I'll be needing the alternator/accessories belt as well. Are there any other parts that are best replaced when doing this job - tensioners etc? And where to get from - Skoda dealer? Audi dealer(this is an Audi engine isnt it?)? Thanks Alan.
  2. Yep, I've got one - estate version, 1.8 20v SLX. SLX it doesnt seem to be listed on the page below, so I'm wondering if it is SLXi, or plain SLX, as on the rear badge and the V5.Seems like I'll have to open the bonnet to see if it has fuel injection or a carb! I've been doing a lot of searching for info, and found that there are a lot of different combinations available, see this link for the different models of estate version: http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/carreviews/printview.aspx?model_id=821 Alan.
  3. I've just bought a 1999 1.8 20v estate - it appears that Haynes do not do a specific manual, so looks like I'll have to get a VW or Audi one. The 1.8 is an Audi engine isnt it? And I presume it is non-turbo? So which workshop manual would be most suitable for home sevicing/repairs? Thanks Alan.
  4. I dont think that is possible, unless your engine has a 'AZD' in the engine number. Have a look at the table on this page to see if your engine is listed. You'll need your engine number, which should be on your V5. http://www.golfmk4.co.uk/cc_compatibility_chart.htm And other pointers here: http://www.golfmk4.co.uk/cruise_control.htm http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dgace/cruise_control.htm HTH Alan.
