  2. Seems that it was the rear washer soaking the car and the front carpet hadn't dried out. Hosed and hosed the car, nothing new coming in. Thanks for all the help
  3. Thanks for the replies. Front passenger seat is out now as well, water is definitely coming from the front somewhere but not the doors, I've hosed and hosed the car but there's nothing coming from the doors. The carpet is all pulled off and the only bit doesn't seem to be drying is in the middle right up at the front, it'd be centre of the car underneath the central tunnel right at the front. Could water be coming through there somewhere? Front washers somehow?

  5. Impact driver is essential. Halfords do a good one for about £17 ish. To quote a popular meme 'One does not simply' remove a disc retaining screw without one. Aside from that I needed: a socket set with small breaker bar copper grease blue roll gloves brake cleaner a club hammer small wire brush for brushing off any rusty bits caliper rewind tool for the rear, press back tool for the front jack stands I think that's all ...
  6. Hey I'm in need of a door lock mechanism for the near side rear of my mk1 vrs, so obviously it has to be a central locking door lock mechanism. The genuine part is very dear. If I'm looking on eBay or phoning a breaker does anyone know if the part is the same off say a mk4 golf or a leon or any other small VAG car from that era? When I search the part numbers I get results for cars like this but then they don;t specifically say they work on a Fabia. I can't imagine there'd be a specific Fabia one would there?
  7. Currently doing my own before selling the car. There are 3 products I'm using. For small obvious stains like oil, ink or grease I've got a 'dry clean spot stain remover' that lifts everything from ink to oil. For medium size obvious stains like moisture stains or mud from the kid's shoes I highly recommend Auto Glym Hi Foam Interior Shampoo, I have used this to great effect in the past. Then I'm giving the whole thing a general going over with 1001 and a soft brush. Another tip is that the rear split bench and seat backs can be lifted clean out of the car and cleaned indoors which is handy. You have to remember that the seats are light grey and black, not cream or white so they won't be gleaming bright white or cream no matter how much you clean them.
  8. Tried roof and gutter sealant and it never set properly, it stayed soft, I had to scrape it all out after a week and re do it with bathroom sealant which set within a few hours. I'm reluctant to rip out the bathroom sealant and re do it all again with plumber's gold, especially when I don't even think it's the carriers that are leaking. Could it be the roof or some people have said about wiring coming into the firewall? I guess I'll need to strip out more of the interior and hose the car to find out for real, it'd just be handy to know all the common points where it could possibly be leaking and I could just check them all, it'd probably be quicker than taking out the seat and more trim.
  9. Hi I had a damp rear carpet on the passenger side so I popped off both door cards on the passenger side and sealed up the carriers with loads of silicone. I've got the rear carpet pulled up to help it dry out and I kept noticing pools of water forming on the floor. I noticed that when I used the rear washer, which was still working, the water was flooding in from the rear washer pipe behind the rear passenger seat, it was partially disconnected so I have popped it back together thinking job done. I've still got the carpet pulled up, waiting until it's totally dry which it very nearly is. Today it rained a little and I've got another wee pool of water in the floor, where on earth could this water be coming from? The front carpet is dry, it's just the rear that seems to be getting water. I'm 99.9% sure it's not the door carriers as they are all dry around the seals. The only thing I can think now is behind the seat belt perhaps coming from the roof, is that possible? The car has a sunroof, if that makes any difference. Is there another rear washer connection along there somewhere?
  10. I'm replacing the seals and clips for the upper and middle sections. Ordered from dealer today. Less than £15 delivered. If that doesn't help matters I'll get the pipework as well. Prices for the pipework are approx £30 for the rubber upper section, £40 for the plastic middle section and £30 again for the rubber lower section, not sure if I even need all 3 sections. I guess we'll see.
  11. I get loads of grey/white gunk under my oil cap. Pretty sure it's condensation from very short journeys & cold weather. Yeah it could be a sign of a failed head-gasket if there was also residue on the dipstick, then I'd be more worried.
  12. Hey. I have some oil that is finely sprayed around an area underneath the top boost pipe. I have read several topics on here describing the same sort of thing but no pictures. Symptoms: - The oil is finely sprayed in the area, instead of what you might expect from a dripping leak. Could this be an indication that the oil is coming out under pressure? - The top boost pipe is a little loose at the front connector and when I run my finger under the pipe at the connector it is all oily. - Small amount of white mayo under the oil cap. This might be unrelated and is probably due to my 2 mile journeys that I do every day, the car never warms up. No other signs that there is a problem with the head. Please have a look at the pics and tell me if you reckon the pipe could be to blame for the oil. Cheers
  13. If I was after a fvrs I'd sure pay £3500 for an '07, regardless of the mileage. I'm not sure what the max amount you could ask would be but £3500 sure sounds cheap And actually I wouldn't want an over modded car, especialy not styling mods. Subtle mods are best imho

  15. It could be lying on the undertray. Bit of a pain to take it off tbh but it might be the only way.
  16. As far a I know the keys are original and belong to the car. When the key didn't go all the way in I just assumed it had maybe been super glued or something in the past but I suppose if the lock was never used it could just have seized. I was able to force it in but it won't turn. Not bothered about fixing it tbh. I might spray it though and see what happens
  17. Just ordered front brakes myself. Used Euro Car Parts this time. Ordered the following for the front. 2 x 104440791 @ 16.25 GBP Eicher Brake Disc for: Skoda Fabia 1.9 2004 ---- 1 x 101441398 @ 22.74 GBP Pagid Brake Pads for: Skoda Fabia 1.9 2006 ---- Already have Eicher discs and Pagid Pads on the rear and they are grand.
  18. I have this same issue. One day I tried putting the key in the lock for no particular reason and I found that it wouldn't go all the way in. I forced it in but it will not turn at all, I don't want to force it any more. Perhaps I could try spraying something inside it but I don't want to risk properly breaking the lock.
  19. Hmm, I'm kinda the opposite recently my drivers door hasn't liked unlocking from the fob. Seems to be on colder days mostly... so I tought the cold weather maybe moisture inside, mechanism jamming or something. Perhaps the mechanism might just needed cleaned and greased, that seemed to fix my boot lock which used to do the same thing. I'd say we probably both need to try and get at the lock mechanism and give it a good spray with silicon spray or something. At least try and see what's going on in there

  21. Serviced mine myself and it was easy once I had the correct tools. There are plenty of cheap service deals around but are they using oem parts, not just oem quality parts which might not be the same thing
  22. Had exactly same problem mate. New header tank fixed it. Cost about 40 quid including the labour to get it done. You can try scraping the sensor at the bottom of the tank if you can get at it but only works as a fix in some cases and is arguably only a temporary fix anyway.
