  1. Hesitation around 1-2k and 3-4k rpms. Occasionally back fires. Rough idle Using a good car without issues as a doner we have changed every sensor possible, coil packs, ecu, fuel pump, new fuel filter, new plugs, compression checked. As far as we know the timing is correct but will check it. No fault codes, nothing found in live data with VAGCOM. It looks like the previous owner has been playing with it as the air box has been removed in favour of a induction type, turbo recirc valve has been replaced with a forge one, vac reservoir tank is removed and the pipe blanked and vac pipes and secondary air system had been partially removed (I get the feeling the guy wasn't sure what he was doing), we believe it has a map on it but don't know whos it is. I think I have either a air leak, unmetered air going into it or we are over fuelling, failing that a timing or ignition problem. Im looking at replacing the wiring harness for the coil packs as it does not look the best condition with a split insulator on one of the wires for cylinder 1 which I have taped up but don't believe it is all down to this. We have got the car to this point which was hesitating through all the rev range and wouldn't idle to start with by replacing the relevant parts that made a difference from the doner car and a lot of trial and error. Any ideas appreciated.
  2. I have a mk1 skoda octavia estate elegance 110 on a 02 plate and want to know what features can be enabled using VCDS. Features I'm particular interested in are lane change and rear wiper activation when reverse is selected, i quite like these features on the wifes fabia vrs mk1. I have VCDS but am new to using them, I'm not stupid and can read computers with guidance on where to find the features to change lol
  3. as title says really, was wondering whether there are any regular meets in the notts/derby area.
  4. enjoyed the day, was on notts car club stand, was nice to have a chat to a couple of you yesterday. gonna have to start turning up some of the meets.
  5. sorry been away. it looks like the mesh on the end has been redesigned a part of it angled to channel the air directly onto the sensor. works a dream
  6. getting worried now the car has done 176k ive never changed the pump and ive done 60k of that. its a diesel on a 2001 plate
  7. after fitting the new MAF and finding out the part no on my old one is now obsolete been replaced with a new moddified one the car is running just fine, in fact i would say its more responsive than it has been for a long long time
  8. just got home from work and according vag-com its the MAF, there is no other fault codes. Gonna pop down to my local VW dealer tomorrow and get one and hope thats it.
  9. Hi as the rest just after some advice, i been reading some of the other threads with this problem and everything seems to be pointing towards the turbo. But anyway heres my problem... Was out driving round last night and everything was just right then on accelerating of an island there was nothing almost as though the turbo had been removed and the problem dosent go away. Switch the engine off give it a few mins then start it again drive and its even worse for about a mile then it will give a tad more power but thats it. You can hear the turbo spooling up and the boost pipes are pressurising. Its a 1.9tdi 110 that has done 167k on a 51 plate had thought about MAF sensor as ive had the car 4 years and have never changed a single sensor on it, the turbo has been whining for nearly a year so wouldnt be surprised if it has gone. A work mate is going to scan it through vag-com tomorrow. Whats your lots opinions? Thanks Guys
  10. i do a full filter and oil change every 10k using castrol slx (now edge) 0-30 or 5-30 and so far it has lived to see 167k since it was built in late 2001 and mine is the 1.9tdi 110
  11. i also seemed to have lost all power last night am seriously hoping its not the turbo but wouldnt be surprised as its been whining for nearly a year now. i can hear the turbo spooling up and the boost pipes are pressurising, cant hear any boost leaks. its a 1.9tdi 110 with 167k on the clock its a 51 plate. it happened whilst i was boot to the floor coming off an island:( a guy i work with is gonna scan it through vag-com tomorrow, was woundering if any of you guys had an idea cheers
  12. ok i admit when there is no one around im prob one of the worlds worst for not indicating, they could have saved a few quid and not bothered fitting them on my motor. glad your ok, car dont look too bad considering its been rolled, a bit of t-cut and it will be as good as new.
  13. after repairing the broken wire as described earlier i went out for a drive the drive somehow took me about 2hrs but all seems good will get the light taken out and see wot happens, failing that i will leave it another illuminated warning light to go with the existing one wont hurt.
  14. mine has done it a time or 2 when its not properly engaged into the notches, normally its straight away though
