  1. Mine stopped cooling too. Local aircon shop (we have lots of them in Australia because it gets hot here) degassed the system, removed the compressor, fitted a new compressor control valve, reassembled and regassed. $504AUD in total. The valve itself was $235 of that. He reckons 80% of jobs on these cars where some shops would replace the whole compressor only need the valve.
  2. The suspension was a factory sports option which came with 18s, about an inch lower, and stiffer springs. I reckon the latter two cancel each other out and in any case I should be under 80kg towball weight. How would I get access to diagnostics in order to monitor DSG temps, and at what temp should I be giving it a rest?
  3. Sorry to start a new topic if this is already dealt with, but I did do a search to no avail. The subwoofer on my 2010 Elegance Wagon rattles when the bass is turned to any positive level and the volume is over about a third. Can someone please remind me where the sub is and what the factory fix for the issue is?
  4. In Australia. Have 2010 Superb Elegance 2.0 TDi DSG Wagon with 120,000kms. Had it from new and never towed with it yet. My Mazda MX-5 is about to cease to be a road and track car and become only a track car so I need to start towing it to events. The trailer and car will be 1,500kg, or less if I go with a dolly trailer. I know the motor and the car will happily tow that weight, but how will the DSG box fare?
  5. Thanks everyone. I'm not technical but know someone fairly locally who is. I'll pass all this on and arrange to go see him.
  6. Del part number 3T0035680B HW Version H42 SW Version 3814 SV-SW Version C_EU_10.342_t1 HW Vehicle 0xC801
  7. How do I check the current firmware and how do I update it?
  8. Going through the menus using my schoolboy German allows me to get as far as selecting English as language. The message then shown cannot be translated by Babel Fish. It is "Die gewunschte Sprache wird geladen" which I think means "the chosen language is being loaded". All good, except the message never goes away and the language is never loaded.
  9. Resetting/rebooting by pressing <, > and eject either briefly or for 10 seconds puts up a message in German which never goes away. It doesn't reset or reboot The MFD is set for UK English. The welcome screen on the Columbus is in English. Is it time to disconnect the battery?
  10. My wife's Columbus has gone to German language and has lost her preset stations. This happened the journey after I'd reset the time on the clock (but had not changed anything else). The display in front of the driver is still in English UK, it's just the radio that seems to have lost the plot. What's the solution?
  11. Will the park assist know what to do with a 'van on the back?
  12. Can this be made to happen via VCDS on a 2010 car? Incidentally mine is not called a Combi, nor and Estate, but in Oz they're called Wagons - oh, unless they're a Hyundai, when they might be a Tourer.
  13. Not possible to select Skoda - or VW or Audi sadly.
  14. Yup, mine also becomes accurate to within 45 seconds, when I'm only a minute away from the destination, which renders the unit useless for me. Surely there must be a fix for people who need to know how long it will take to get someone when they set off rather than only knowing accurately just before they arrive?
