  1. Differential speed limits are not new in the UK, as this table shows: https://www.gov.uk/speed-limits I think showing them on a satnav is a good idea in principle, though for those of us with (for example) a standard car that isn't towing, there should be a settings option for something like "hide / show lower differential speed limits". That would need a software update, though.
  2. Ah right, I see your point. I've just downloaded 2019/20; previous one was 2018/19 (August 2018). So I have skipped 2019 altogether.
  3. Here's a screenshot of my previous downloads. Basically 6-monthly updates, nominally April and November. So most recent one was 2018/19.
  4. I've got a choice of 7 ECE 2019/2020 maps, as per this screenshot. Only 3 of the maps cover the UK, though. ECE 1 suits my current needs.
  5. Hi I've downloaded some custom POIs, ran them through Skoda MyDestination, and loaded them to an SD card. The Amundsen instuction manual says: On my Fabia the SD card is in the glovebox. The trouble I'm having is that I can't get to the Update menu without the satnav SD card being present, and as soon I get to the menu and then swap the SD cards over I get an error message because the satnav data card is missing! Please could someone advise me where I'm going wrong! Thanks
  6. Hi I've just updated the maps for my Skoda Fabia 3 to the latest (STD2_1030_EU1_201819). We're going to France next month, so I was just wondering whether this update includes the reduction in speed limits on single-carriageway roads in France from 90kmh to 80kmh. Would be handy if it did, to avoid the wrong speed limit being shown on the device. Thanks
  7. Thanks Dithane. I'm on Windows and I had formatted the SD card before I copied the files onto it. Rob
  8. Hi I've created PPOI files for National Trust and English Heritage locations via the http://mydestination.skoda-auto.com/POIs website. All gone OK, exported OK from the web site and have got them onto an SD card, but I cannot get them to import to my Fabia III. The instruction manual says: You can't boot up navigation without the map SD card in, so I did that, and then swapped my custom SD card in before selecting update. That didn't work. I have pasted the PPOI files directly onto the map SD card's root. That didn't work either. I've loaded the PPOI file onto a USB SD card converter and plugged that into the USB port. That didn't work too! I've reached a brick wall now. Is this even possible on a car with only one SD car slot. Or does anyone have a great tip how to do this?! Many thanks Rob
  9. Just bought my second Skoda from Progress Letchworth, and generally pleased with the service I've come to expect of them. When I mentioned I could go cheaper via Carwow they were happy to offer me an improved deal, which obviously I accepted!
  10. Picked up my new Fabia Hatch SE L 1.2 TSI 110 PS DSG (denim blue) yesterday, to replace my old 2011 Mk2 Elegance. Really pleased with the order time - took 6 weeks as opposed to 3 months last time around. Went for fairly standard but have added satnav, light & rain assist, simply clever pack and spare wheel. Simply clever phone holder is too small for either my Android or the Mrs' iPhone - oh well! Been out for a first spin, really loving it and seems so much more modern that the Mk2 somehow. Only thing I think I might miss is the air conditioned fridge glovebox for the hot summer months (assuming we get any!). Cheers Rob
  11. Got my Carwow quotes today, ranging from £400 saving up to £1,700. All the quotes are cheaper for cash than for PCP, whereas my local dealer was £500 more for cash. So I am actively thinking about going down this route instead of my local dealer.
  12. Yes, you're right. I didn't realise you could shop around for it!
  13. Thanks Exeterj and Kevberlin. Yeah, I did wonder why the salesman was pushing PCP so hard when I'd made it clear that cash payment was an option. As you say, there must be something in it for them. I was going to get gap insurance anyway, so that is a tangible benefit if it was free. But it all hangs on the overall deal, of course. Anyway, I've now registered my details on Carwow so looking forward to see if anything comes of it. Also looked at drivethedeal but I didn't get Skoda offered as a choice in the dropdown menu.
  14. P.S. If I'm allowed a supplemetary question to my own post, I've just found some threads on here mentioning carwow. Would they be any use in my situation?
