  1. My Octavia 1.6 tdi 4x4 has developed a very rough acceleration only happens when over 2k rpm and especially when underload (car full or heading uphill) in 5th or 6th. It’s fine in 1st 2nd and 3rd. No misfire or juddering, just the whole car vibrates and feels rough, when not accelerating and just maintaining speed it’s as smooth as ever. Any ideas? Thank you.
  2. Because they’ve done a basic diagnosis and came up with the ecu at fault which isn’t anything to do with the fix, Skoda won’t pay for it. Instead I have to. It’s sounds rather odd to me. I may try ringing up Skoda on Monday, in the mean time I’ve told them to go ahead with the diagnosis and see where we stand with what’s wrong with it. Having been without the car for 9 days now I just want it back.
  3. Hi, my 12 plate 1.6tdi 4x4 broke down a couple of weeks ago, it was running fine on the motorway then it started to misfire, once, then twice, then quite a large misfire and the heater plug started flashing. Car then went into limp mode so I had to crawl across the motorway to the hard shoulder. As I had my 4 year old in the back I wasn’t keen on staying there long so I quickly read the fault code 09775 then reset it and off we drove fine. Car misfired a couple more times randomly on the way back from Manchester and then the next day seemed to run fine and did so for two weeks. It’s had the emissions fix by VW about 10k ago so I thought ERG valve. The day before the car went into the dealer a front spring snapped so it’s had that done as well. However, after having the car for 8 days they’ve diagnosed it as a ECM/ECU fault and wat £208 to properly diagnose it. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this? Anyone had similar issues? They’ve given me a very nice brand new, never driven before Laurin and Klement estate to run about it and so far I’ve put 600 miles on it but I just want my car back. cheers.
  4. Common fault is the haldex clutch pump failing. I'd check that.
  5. Sorry pal, it was cumbria not yorkshire, place called MP autodetailing in cockermouth. I set my location to Yorkshire because some bellwiff ex squaddie kept making daft threats on here so I set my location to elsewhere.
  6. Full car machine polished and interior shampooed etc was £250 and took two days pal. Worth it in my eyes as the scratches were everywhere.
  7. I don't know tbh. I should have asked. He asked what I normally use (zymol and autoglym) and he said just continue with that and apply decent wax every couple of months to maintain the shine.
  8. Just had the Octavia machine polished and detailed by a local place, I think in the past its been used as a dog car and driving up and down lanes being a 4x4, having dog prints in the car and the amount of scratches it had down the sides. She's scrubbed up pretty well though. Even the Skoda teddy approves.
  9. Total guess but maybe a dry tapet? I can remember old ford 1.3 would always have a tapety noise.
  10. Go and do it, you'll enjoy it! My advice is get as close to Keswick as you can. You can hire kayaks etc at derwent marina and rowboats on derwent water foreshore. Keswick also has loads to do, i.e. Decent pubs for food and drinks, loads of good walks and a few bike hire shops, also just outside Keswick is whinlatter which has decent mountain bike trails. Most decent camp sites have full wash facilities. I'm less than 20 miles from Keswick so if you need a hand with anything just give me a shout.
  11. Having been away from the skoda brand for 5 years I'm not a Octavia owner again, this time a MK2 FL estate 4x4. Hopefully a bit more economical than my Subaru Forester! I collect the car on Tuesday. Can't wait!
  12. I've been oblivious to the recent changes in America but I've seen news reports today and social media posts regarding the ban on muslims from certain countries. How on earth can this be going on? It's mental! Reading the above things he's done (if all true) this could seriously start conflicts.
  13. Ive just noticed this thread and GG leaving. My new year resolution was to count up and estimate how old he must be with all the jobs he had, injuries, incidents even arrests for sexual offences he'd been subject to, must be at least 100 years old to have had such an eventful life.
  14. I started out as admin office work in local borough council, then got moved into printing and graphics (did ten years in print and graphic design) then the last year in IT at the council due to mergers. Decided with budget cuts it was time to move on to the police, currently have six years service as a armed response officer. I'd go back to office work tomorrow though. I feel I miss so much time with my wife and child working 12hour shifts.
  15. My instructor used to cancel driving lessons if it was snowing. Living in the lakes and feeling the urge to drive up the fells every time the white stuff falls means you soon learn though. It's a simple case of When in doubt, flat out!
  16. It's up to and including 3.5t. I doubt you'll ever get any camper van that is exactly 3500KG so it's acedemic. As for the trailer, you can tow a 750KG trailer if over 3.5t or any vehicle and trailer weight as along as it doesn't go over 3.5t. So on a 97-13 licence you can tow a 1.5t trailer with a 2t car.
  17. True but in walking dead timeline it's only been about two years so far
  18. I think Daryl is the next to go. But I really hope I'm wrong!
  19. I haven't got a heated front screen, but I have got heated wipers, looking forward to seeing how well they work.
  20. The snow has arrived in the Lake District. Good day walking today.
  21. I suspect our very own Walter Mitty has tried none of these schemes and are as made up as everything else in his life.
  22. They're made in BAE systems in Barrow, in the best county of the UK. They are British as they can be, just as the aircraft carriers, HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH II and HMS PRINCE OF WALES. Good to see you belittling the Mer Majesty's Royal Navy. They might lob something more than just tea bags since HMS Conqueror is the only nuclear powered attack sub to launch torpedos in anger and sunk its target. Also built in Britain, sadly not in barrow though.
  23. For being an idiot and then encouraging other people to be idiots. Imagine if someone was on here and was easily persuaded and took him up on his advice, then lost a massive amount of money. So I'll say it again, I hope he is in trouble.
