  1. Hi everyone. My oil pressure warning light (stop engine) came on while on the motorway at weekend. Had just driven 150 troublefree miles, stopped for fuel and as we pulled back on the motorway the warning came on. I know you are all immediately saying oil pump failure (Its the dreaded 2.0L Tdi engine) However The engine does not appear to have any of the typical symptoms I have seen with oil pump failure, I once had an Audi fail on the motorway and it rattled its arse off before seizing solid in under a minute! My car sounds normal, and idles normal, We had to drive it gently about four miles to the next motorway junction, It stops, starts and idles normally, sounds fine when you rev it, no top end rattle at all? I brought it home by trailer to be safe and again it sounds fine when driving on and off the trailer, it idled for twenty minutes and still sounds normal So could it just be the oil pressure switch which I think is below the oil filter housing, and is there any other oil pressure monitoring on this engine. Also the engine has recently had a turbo replacement, (Supposedly good secondhand unit) cant see any evidence of leaks from the turbo or pipes etc and oil level is at full mark. Any thoughts on testing the pressure, I know how prone these engine are to oil pump failure but can they maybe have partial failure which gives low rather than no oil pressure. Cheers Steve
  2. Trundlenut is correct, It turns out I had caught the end of the manifold temp sensor and broken it, When I got the car hooked up to the VCDS it was showing 900deg and 95% blocked DPF!!! However once we linked out the temp sensor with a resistor and ran the car up the motorway the soot level started to come down slowly to 80% We cleared all faults and It then started to do a Regen, exhaust temp went from 220 to 500degrees but within ten minutes the DPF had dropped right down to 12% and the car was running perfectly. So for the first time in a long time the car had proper boost and ran well, Great News you might think, however.... Drove from St Helens to the Birmingham NEC (106miles) absolutely perfect, halfway home we stopped at the services for fuel, pulled back on to the motorway and immediately got the dreaded oil pressure warning & stop engine Knowing how prone the 2.0l is to oil pump failure I stopped on the hard shoulder, engine sounded perfect and temp was normal, so drove it one mile to the next junction. The engine does not have any obvious symptoms of engine oil pressure failure, It idled fine for twenty minutes and sounds normal when revved other than being in Limp mode (for a change!!) I have now recovered the car home and it still sounds mechanically fine other than a bit of a mysterious noise when you rev then lift off the throttle, it sounds like a little tweet or squeak which appears to be coming from the DPF plumbing at the top of the engine? It idles ok but The oil pressure light comes on when you rev the engine up, but there is no other symptoms so I either have a faulty pressure sensor (im not that lucky) or I have some low oil pressure?
  3. Hi all I have recently replaced the turbo on my Superb 2.0 TDi (2005 model) but had a problem with the manifold gasket which meant I was driving it for a week or so with a bad manifold leak which covered the engine bay in soot but also caused the 'particulate filter instruct' warning to come on. I have now removed the turbo again and sorted the gasket ( not a job you want to do twice) but I have another problem, the particulate warning is still on but the car is stuck in limp mode, i have tried a manual regen run a few times but i dont know if this works when the car is in limp. SInce doing the second job I have another error code which is P0546- exhaust gas temp sensor high/malfunction, My OBD reader cant clear the fault as it returns instantly. So can anyone tell me exactly where this sensor is, I have read that it can be linked out with a resistor but I am not sure where Im looking and im sure i am not doing the DPF any good driving the car in limp. I am hoping to get access to VAGCOM in a few days to do a forced Regen but need to sort this other fault first I think. Thanks Steve
  4. Dont be fooled, VAG group cars use ADBLUE, Peugeot Citroen do not. I had the same warning lights in my Superb at 38K miles, Skoda wanted £295 and would not tell me anything about how the system works or is topped up. A friend who works in the Motor factor industry got me a 15 ltr tub of Adblue for about £14, I topped up the tank with about 5ltr using a small funnel and some rubber hose which took me about fifteen minutes, It lasted about 9000 miles before I had to do it again and it has been perfect, Just top it up and reset the dash warning light with a cheap OBD reader (Mine was £12) and its job done!
  5. Hi everyone Ive had this fault ever since i bought the car, Warning usually comes on at start up for a few seconds then randomly comes up whenever it feels like it? Its driving me crazy, Have changed most of the rear bulbs to no effect, Can you tell me how to check the self levelling headlight sensor are working some people have mentioned that they can cause the fault Thanks
  6. Hi everyone, Well it finally happened, Ive had my Superb Mk I for a year and its been fine but following a day of torrential rain last week I came out of work to find my footwell was 2" deep in water!!!! However in my case its the drivers side, most of the cases im reading about seem to affect the passenger side due to the pollen filter seal, Does anyone know if there is a seperate problem or ingress point that affects the driver footwell as my passenger side seems fine? Its happened twice in a week now so i need to get it sorted asap Thanks
  7. thanks for the replies, As far as I know everthing worked fine including the cruise control which was on for much of the journey, Not sure about the brake lights but didnt have anyone run into the back of me LOL! As for the DPF fluid, sorry but what is DPF Im not aware of this, what is it and how can I check it? thanks Steve
  8. can anyone advise me on the following fault please. (2005 Superb 2.0Tdi) On a recent long journey from Merseyside to Cornwall the "Engine Workshop" message appeared and the glow plug light flashed constantly after about 90 miles of very steady motorway driving (65-70 mph in sixth gear 2000rpm) stopped at the next services for twenty minutes then continued on our way. The warning light cleared after about five minutes but then came on again after another 40-50 miles. It followed the same pattern for the whole 300 mile journey, each time I stopped for a while it would clear shortly after continuing on. then spent the week driving around Cornwall on country lanes/A roads etc and covered 250 miles without the fault occuring. Start the homeward journey and after 50 steady motorway miles at fairly low revs the same thing happened on the journey home. Any thoughts on what the fault is as it seems to be related to the style of driving the car is doing, The fault didnt seem to affect the car or the way it drove in any way, In fact it was fully loaded and returned over 53MPG on the way home. A friend in work has tried his Sykes code reader but that hasnt showed anything? Thanks Steve
  9. Hi everyone Im new here so hello. I have recently bought a Superb 1 2.0 Elegance Tdi. It has a couple of faults one of which is the bulb failure warning keeps appearing on the dash. It comes on at random, sometimes at start up and sometimes for no obvious reason when driving along in daylight. I did find a duff reverse bulb which I changed but the problem persists, The only other thing I can see is that I appear to only have a rear fog on the drivers side, should I have one on both sides as this may be another duff bulb. Any other suggestions welcome. thanks Steve
