Drivers front window mech crunchy.
Thanks for this guys. I'm likely to have a crack at it myself. I managed an older Passat - but to be fair there were dozens of walkthroughs about! Can't seem to find any for a Mk3 Fabby though!

Drivers front window mech crunchy.
First it's the poxy throttle body and now this! Window won't travel up or down. Motor engages but there's a nasty crunchy noise which I'm assuming is the cable wrapped up in the gearing/mechanism. Has anyone got any experience of repairing this at all? Part, removing panel etc... 2018 car ffs. Should have lasted longer than this....

Yep - owned from new - it's a 67 plate. I haven't really had a straight answer yet about the part - just a lot of flannel about part numbers possibly changing and something about a workshop memo.

Yes - they've budgeted for that adaptation too: Labour diagnosis £85 Labour to replace and adapt new unit £127.50 (!!!!!!!) Throttle valve £342.67 (quoted me £430 on the phone) Gaskets and fixings required approx. £20 Total £575.17 + vat @ 20% = £690.20

Yes - that's right. Interesting update - they've offered up to a 70% goodwill gesture on a total job cost of £690 inc VAT. So £283.56 for the part and fitting. However, here's what the contribution depends on: The contribution amount depends on the actual “Reception / or diagnosis date” and exact mileage at that time. The Reception date is the date the fault is diagnosed and the exact mileage recorded at the dealer via VWG diagnostic equipment and saved on line for warranty and audit purposes. The goodwill amount offered will decrease over time as the vehicle age and mileage increases, but by how much and when we have no way of telling, so in short the quicker a diagnosis is confirmed at the dealer and any contribution secured, the better. Basically, the car hasn't moved since my wife drove it back to the house upon which I called to get recovery to local dealer only to find out we were out of cover. I guess if I can get the car to them ASAP somehow and get it diagnosed I should get the full 70% hopefully. I call bull**** on the by how much and when sentence, frankly. The fact that they've responded today and with such a large goodwill percentage implies that they've cocked up somewhere along the line and have fitted the wrong part to my car from factory. I'll keep you updated.....

Dealer can't explain why the D is on the car and not the C. They're sending a quote for repair with a possible gesture of goodwill included. See how that goes....

Throttle Body options
Thanks all. The plot thickens I guess! I just called up Skoda to check the part number and lo and behold he confirmed that the part should be ending C and not D. I'm expecting a call back from the Service Manager to find out why there's a D sitting on my unusable engine. We'll see what happens - at the end of the day, there's 2 types for a reason. I'll keep you posted. Message pinged off to them with the deets....

This comes up based on the part number and it's the same manufacturer. https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/magneti-marelli-12827479.html Weirdly though it says it's not compatible with the 1.0 110bhp??!

Throttle Body options
Sorry guys, still here and thanks for the help so far. It's a 04C133062D part which I've taken straight off the body itself. The car may be an engine code CHZC? I think that's what I can tell from the handbook sticker.

Hey! Yes. EPC and engine management light plus the stop start message. Code is P155800 and is giving throttle valve drive - electrical error in circuit. On shutting engine down, there a dreadful clicking from the throttle.

Hi all. Throttle body on the Fabby 1.0 tsi has given up with loss of power and lumpy idle. Is there anywhere people can recommend I purchase a new one other than the dealer? Or is genuine the way to go? Thanks.

Your opinion?! Mk1 vRS estate local to me.....
Hi all. This just popped up on Facebook local (ish) to me: Description from FB: Skoda Octavia vrs estate 1.8t 147,415 miles Fully stamped history with last service on 139k miles including clutch and flywheel also cambelt and water pump with receipt for £1047!! New battery ,fuel filter ,plugs at 139k miles New thermostat , coolant sender and housing and new antifreeze at 146k miles Mot until February next year Drives as it should - All windows work and doors unlock on the remote (common problem not to work) 17inch Skoda vrs spider alloy wheels the same as the hatchback version instead of the 16 inch that come on the estate looks a lot better ! Cruise control ! Pioneer touch screen Bluetooth headunit for connecting phone Usual age related marks as expected but looks great ! Exhaust is blowing a little ( minor leak of exhaust gases advisory previous MOT) Looking for £1800 ono It's standard - no map, some rust appearing low on arches and a little on the hatch. I've got the checklist printed out, but what are your thoughts on: Price, and Reliability and owning an older car like this (it won't move a huge amount - school runs and weekend trips to shops etc) Thanks in advance of anything you throw this post's way.... Cheers!

Older 1.4/1/2 TSI high-ish mile Petrol examples? If they've survived this long.....
Thanks for this info @e-Roottoot . I've read through a lot of threads like this before having been on the fence about getting one a while back. I guess my question is if they haven't suffered with the issues before now on an 2011 plate with 90k miles or higher for example - are they actually ever likely to? Some of the issues I've read about were on vehicles with much lower mileage? This can't affect every single engine out there with a pre-2012 1.2 or pre 2015 1.4 engine?

Older 1.4/1/2 TSI high-ish mile Petrol examples? If they've survived this long.....
.....are they likely to suffer the chain issues or are they just good examples worthy of a look? Morning everyone! I'm looking for a new (old) car and am going between lots of different models for various reasons. I went to see a 2010 Yeti 1.2 with 91k miles on it yesterday and it drove great. No audible rattle on start-up. Bodywork unfortunately quite tired and beyond what I want to correct. My question is as the title really - if they've got a good history with oil changes on the mark, are they worth a punt? Are they survivors likely to give a good few years of service and if they were going to go wrong in terms of chain stretch etc, they would have by now? Appreciate your thoughts!

Need a car quickly! 2007 1.9 TDI 105bhp - thoughts/opinions....
Thanks man! I don't mind getting into something - sounds like it's certainly not beyond me! Nice one!

Thank you for this - seems like a good buy at the price then - certainly worth the test drive. Was the condensor a pain? Not buried behind the dash is it?!

Thanks @Squible - good to hear you've had trouble-free motoring. I'd imagine there's a good chance the DMF could well have been replaced on this one at 122k.....

Need a car quickly! 2007 1.9 TDI 105bhp - thoughts/opinions....
Afternoon all. I'm driving around in my son's battered Citroen C2 having canned my own (Mitsubishi) car due to a recurring DPF issue and oil leak. I want to get back in a VAG pre-DPF derv estate where I'm happy! A BXE code Octy Elegance Estate has come up on private sale locally to me. 300 days of MOT, 122k miles in reasonable shape, full history (up to 44k with Skoda) which I've yet to examine, but belt and pump at 110k, last serviced on 108k. Could be long-life by the looks of it. The guy wants £1500. What do I need to look for on the test drive? I've always had PS130 1.9s - anything to check on these in particular? At 122K with regular servicing and the right oil, I'd expect the con-rod issue to have happened by now! Lol! Appreciate any thoughts you have? Cheers. Si.

Apologies in advance! 2008 2.0 PD 140 Scout Questions?
Awesome @skomaz. Thanks for this. I just found another 2008 Scout ironically in my online travels! It's had the DPF and EGR delete plus a remap. Obviously I understand it's illegal to do so - but I wonder how a purchaser stands if it was picked up on MOT? I guess they're liable and could be fined as such?

Apologies in advance! 2008 2.0 PD 140 Scout Questions?
Super - I've asked the guy for a pic of the service book sticker... Also note the issues above @skomaz. Intrigued about the turbo outlet pipe!? What caused it to swell and burst?

Apologies in advance! 2008 2.0 PD 140 Scout Questions?
Morning all! I'm looking at a Scout local to me. It's a 4X4 2.0 140 PD on 120k miles. I've always had PD diesels in various older VWs and have recently sold a Mitsubishi ASX due to DPF issues and short trips so am looking to get back into an older non-DPF diesel. I know I should probably be looking for a petrol (and am open to suggestions around the £3-4k mark!), but I kind of like driving diesels? I've asked Skoda, and they don't think this particular model has a DPF. I just wanted to clarify that, and ask whether there was anything in particular to look out for on this variant Octavia and engine when I go take a look? Thanks in advance of any pointers you can give!! :)
