  1. Mmmm that is what I'm looking for - might give them a call.
  2. Thanks for all your replies guys, your comments are much appreciated. I will follow up on these leads and let you know how I get on
  3. Hi Folks, Returning to site after flirtation with Freelander 2 which I still own, but SWMBO wants something smaller, so I am back to considering a new Yeti again. Does anyone know what discounts are available from dealers, or a reliable internet source, as I was let down last year by an online discounter and my order was cancelled - hence move to LR. What car seems to suggest around £1000 discount available from dealer, but can anyone confirm if this is realistically negotiable? I will be looking at a 4WD CR140 DSG with a few options. BTW the Freelander 2 is brilliant, but not as car-like as the Yeti, much larger and SWMBO finds it intimidating to park in our village, so that's really my reason for changing.... Hope some folks currently on the waiting list will reveal what they managed to negotiate...
  4. Mine is ordered through Broadspeed/Pro-cars - got 11% discount off list. My dealer was not interested in even discussing a discount, so I went online for quotes. Due for delivery in March 12, which suits me fine anyway - though if we have a bad Winter, I will wish it was earlier... My opinion on prices FWIW is that although there is a waiting list now, it won't last forever, and if you pay full whack now, you will probably get hit for a double dip, as once supply evens out the prices will tumble as dealers try to shift stock, and your used value will drop with it.
  5. Congrats - I have to wait until next March for my new toy, and I'm already fed up waiting :(
  6. OK, for all you tree huggers out there - if you want to save money on fuel either continue to drive as slowly as you do now, or why not take the bus, train or walk, and let the rest of us get on with our Motorway journeys at 80 mph. For all the health and safety brigade - get your facts right - speed is not the problem, it is people doing stupid things and not paying attention that causes most accidents. For myself, I believe it is a long overdue change considering the advances in vehicle technology that have been made in the half Century since this 'temporary' limit was imposed. most people do 80mph on motorways anyway, and this is simply an acknowledgement by the Government that there is mass disregard for the current limit and the Police should have more important things to do than set traps to catch people doing 80mph! Sounds like a sensible suggestion from a politician for once, so I say - good show and about time
  7. Me too - please don't compare a Yeti with a purpose designed high performance sports car. It is a ridiculous comparison Part of the pleasure of owning a car is how it makes you feel, and personally, my BMW Z4 makes me feel good when I drive it  My other car is a Honda Jazz, and no matter how hard you argue that it is more practical, more fuel efficient, more environmentally friendly etc. etc. there is no substitute for the growl of a big engine in a small car - especially if you can drop the top down and hear the birds singing as you blast around on the open road It's not a status symbol for me, it's just another of life's pleasures, and much as I am looking forward to getting my Yeti next year , I know which car I will choose for a weekend in the Lakes
  8. How about a beginners guide on completing this?
  9. Hi, I'm pretty new here, so am not up to speed on everything yet, so I have a few questions for those 'in the know'. I have a new Yeti on order with towbar prep, and once I get it and get the towbar fitted (I intend to do this myself), I will need to get the ECU coded to enable the towbar functionality. Now, rather than pay a dealer £80 or so to do this, I would prefer to put the money towards a VCDS interface, so question 1 is therefore can I do the coding myself if I obtain a VCDS interface, and if so, does anyone have instructions for this? Question 2 is what exact interface do I need for the Yeti, which I expect will have the latest canbus functionality? There seems to be a couple of options for this...... Question 3 - can anyone recommend a UK distributor for VCDS?
  10. Thanks guys - just seen the other posts on this subject :S Seems unbelievable that someone at SUK can't phone someone at the factory and get a straightforward answer. Anyway, for the time being I will leave the option of the prep on my order, and eagerly await an update from Fred. If nothing else, I now have things to do and plan while I wait for the actual car to arrive
  11. Guys, Thanks for all the responses to my post - this looks like it will be my new 'go to' website for several months, as I look forward to my monster arriving. My next door neighbor also has a Yeti, so I get constant reminders of what I can expect.... The Yeti will be replacing the Jazz, as it is no longer big enough to transport my extended family which now includes two Grandchildren and a Patterdale pup! The Z4 will be staying I have specced the adjustable boot floor, and the towbar prep as options, but I now think the towbar prep may have to be cancelled, as I cannot get a definitive answer to exactly what it comprises - can anyone assist me with this? Skoda customer service did not really seem to know, but stated that it does not include the removable bumper section. Also I spoke to a few towbar 'specialists' and got the following answers from them regarding towbar prep option. First one (recommended by local dealer) said he knew nothing about the towbar prep option or the parts required and that dealer would have to code the car after installation - but normally people didn't bother :S Second one said he knew nothing about the pre-wiring options or the canbus integration at all Third one seemed to know his stuff, and said the bumper cutout frame and cover would have to be ordered from the dealer, and that he would not use any factory pre-installed wiring, as he would install a generic canbus interface and code the vehicle himself to provide full Skoda functionality. Sounds good, but I would appreciate any feedback you may have, as what seemed like a simple question turns out to be a bit of a minefield :(
