  1. Probably! But even the Skoda dealer I purchased from in the first place wasn't offering any sort of sweetener to keep me.
  2. Just as an aside on this, I recently got a quote from Renault on a Kadjar. They said I was in 2k negative equity on my Elegance 2 litre diesel but Business Manager agreed to cover this and offered a couple of grand off too if I signed up (incidentally I didn't but going to revisit this in a few months time). I'd always been told non Skoda dealers not interested in giving the best deal but this doesn't seem to be the case with everyone. VW wouldn't even entertain any negotiation and just basically told me to go away...
  3. Hi all I'm on a 10k p/a 0% pcp. I'm keeping a record of my mileage and worked out I'm going around 900 miles a year over the 10k (so would be 2700 miles over by the end). Am I better budgeting for any change in part ex value or having extra to pay at the end, or should I contact vwfs and amend the pcp mileage now? Thanks. Steve.
  4. Richard, thats a quick response to the questions but if you give me your email address I'll send you a more detailed reply. Thanks. Steve.
  5. Hi Richard, my answers below; The questions are: [*]Why did you choose to buy this car? - had a mk2 and good finance deal [*]What do you like about it? - interior space, nice drive, lots of gadgets (Elegance spec) [*]What don’t you like about it? - auto wipers hit and miss on picking up that it's raining and they need to do some work, residual value is bad [*]What’s it like to live with? - very easy [*]Has it been reliable? - totally reliable [*]What are running costs like? - good, getting better mpg since switched from supermarket fuel to esso [*]Has it lived up to your expectations? - pretty much [*]Would you recommend it? - yes [*]What sort of car will you buy next? - waiting to see what Kodiaq is like otherwise probably another Octy but Scout or VRS 4wd Hope this helps. Steve.
  6. This. The whole process was very painless for me as I went in looking for a deal on a specific spec without taking the mick. Left it a couple of days then asked to include another cost option at a discount (think it added £1 per month) and got it so paid my order deposit there and then.
  7. So on this topic, what spec/tech levels do people think we'll see in the Kodiak? I've seen stories of it being based around the Octavia in terms of engines/tech but I'm sure (correct me if I'm wrong) someone high up at Skoda last year indicated any SUV would be pitched at Superb prices so could we expect Superb levels of spec/tech? I'm definitely interested as I'm likely to need a 7 seater end of this year/start of next year some time and didn't really want to move away from Skoda. Cheers. Steve.
  8. I've got an Octavia mk3 but had an SE spec Fabia with the 1 litre engine courtesy when mine was in for a service. I was shocked to find afterwards it was standard no options as it seemed such a good spec! Despite a "sorry it's only a 1 litre" comment from the service guy at the start I thought it was perfectly good performance for my 30 mile round trip on a roads to work and back. Definitely on my shortlist when we become a 2 car household later this year. Steve.
  9. I have front assist on my mk3 Octavia. From personal experience it does try to override you accelerating if it detects something in front, I've had it slam the anchors when I've been pulling out quickly from behind a stationary car as it thought there wasn't the space. Bit of an eye opener but didn't cause me any problem.
  10. Thanks for all the replies. I'm a year into my pcp so 30 months left to the end, my comment on change in 6-12 months was obviously depending on the inevitable call from the salesman "enquiring" if I'd be interested in changing. Having thought more on this, I've come to the conclusion my current car does literally have everything I need so unless it's a fantastic deal I'll most likely see out the pcp and hopefully get together enough money to buy it outright at the end or have enough of a deposit separate from the car's trade in value to get an SEL or L&K. At this point I'd like to chuck in a disclaimer on the above statement when I inevitably go against my thoughts next year some time lol.
  11. This is generally my thought on the matter too, I was just putting the question out there as my current car is my first ever brand new motor (on PCP) and over the years I've heard various scare stories about values come trade in time (be it part way through or at the end of the agreement). SurreyJohn - I specced xenons and winter pack on the Elegance but kept it as the alcantara interior (which I'm quite fond of).
  12. Hi all, I've seen quite a bit on here about the Octavia not holding it's value quite as well as expected, so a simple question.... Which is the best spec Octavia in terms of residual values? I would normally have assumed VRS but with so many being bought I have heard this has affected ongoing values. Would the Scout hold value any better or is a more mid-range spec going to be seen as "better value" and hold up residually? I've got an Elegance spec and will be possibly looking to change in the next 6-12 months. My current is diesel but am considering going petrol (which would rule out the Scout of course) - has anyone got any indications of whether "dieselgate" is affecting/has affected Skoda values? I've heard that VW sales are down since it came out. Thanks. Steve.
  13. Thanks for all the replies, guess I'll have to get used to leaving the climate control on and make sure I keep the windows clean lol.
  14. Hi guys, I know the mk2 was known for having some misting issues, but I was led to believe these may have been sorted in the mk3. My 64 plate Elegance been fine until the last 2-3 weeks where I've noticed the front screen (and to a lesser extent driver and passenger side windows) mist up for no apparent reason - a quick blast of climate control seems to clear it, but it's happening more regularly in all situations (sunny day, rainy day, with/without passengers). Is this something others have found and should I try to get Skoda to have a look? Thanks. Steve.
  15. <holds hand up> Mine's on 10k per annum, on current usage I'll be doing around 9700 p/a - to be honest I thought 10k was a bit too conservative but although I expect my mileage may increase a bit as the year goes on (holidays etc), I don't expect it to go vastly over 10k - saleman told me the mileage limits are (almost) irrelevant anyway as that's the finance company's limit and i'd be handing the car to the dealership as a part ex on a new one so they would do the math on value etc not the finance company - not sure how true that is but as I say I expect to be on course for hitting my limit give or take
  16. I was initially going to go for candy white as I like the look of it, but the missus pointed out the pitfalls of having a white car day to day (keeping it clean) and said she preferred blue - came down to a straight choice of denim or race and I chose race - glad I did as I think the car looks the mutts! I'll see if I can attach a pic... Steve
  17. There definitely seems to have been a shift in build times - I ordered an Elegance H/B with Winter Pack, Xenons and sunset glass on 15th October with the dealer telling me it'll be January or February... I pick it up this Friday.
  18. I think build times have been cut, I ordered 15th October and have a build week of next week and hopefully delivery before Christmas. Dealer said he's surprised how quick it is as most staff training now is handling build delays.
  19. Hi all, I've ordered a race blue Elegance hatchback and included the sunset glass as an option. I've trawled the internet and on here to try to find some "in the flesh" pics of this model/grade/colour combination - specifically with the sunset glass. I can't find any "in the flesh" pictures of this, only ones without it. Does anyone have any pics of what this car actually looks like with the sunset glass?? Thanks. Steve.
  20. I knew the wait could be a while but when I ordered I was told 12 weeks for hatchback 20 weeks for estate. I don't have a real rush for it to arrive just trying not to be impatient and as it's my first 'brand new' car I wasn't sure how often I should get updates from the dealer and how quick the process is at the various stages.
  21. Hi all Ordered a hatchback Elegance 2 weeks ago. Spoke to the salesman towards end of last week he said no build week yet - any idea when I can expect a build week allocated and how quickly delivery is/could be after this? Don't want to keep pestering the salesman lol. Cheers. Steve.
  22. I'm about to place an order for an elegance hatchback - the dealer has said it's about a 20 week wait on factory builds but I should expect it end of Jan sort of time. As this is close to the March plate change I've said I either want it earlier than end of Jan or wait for it to be a 15 plate. Question is.... are the residual values between a late "64" and a 15 plate going to be that much different or am I worrying about nothing??
  23. Thanks for all the replies. I'd be interested to know how you find the mk 3 when fully loaded (passengers and/or luggage) one criticism I have of the mk 2 is it labours a bit under acceleration.
  24. Hi all I've currently got a mk 2 FL 1.4 TSI manual - looking at possibly getting a mk 3 but just got a couple of questions.... Is the 1.4 TSI in the mk 3 a noticeable upgrade on the mk 2 1.4 TSI? I believe it's higher power and more torque in the mk 3. What sort of real world MPG are people getting from it (with DSG if poss as this is what I'm looking at)? Thanks. Steve.
  25. Hi all, Has anyone got first hand experience of using drivethedeal.com and/or carwow? Both seem to offer quite competitive prices - are there any pitfalls or problems people encountered using either of these websites? Thanks. Steve.
