After just over 10k miles, my estate is delivering about 48 average and 50Mpg at a push. Actually quite disappointed with the economy given i was getting 50+ with my old a6 avant 1.9PD a few years back which was a bigger, heavier car. There really needs to be a push to get rid of these fantasy island figures the manufacturrs pump out. 68mpg must be with the optional sail and tailwind

i think you're going to find it very difficult to prove that the alignment has been out from day 1 and that is the cause of the 'premature' wear. They have worn due to over inflation by the sound of it, if you had been throwing it through corners and across roundabouts, they would have scrubbed the outer edges and it owuld have probably read 4mm in the centre and 2mm on the inside/outside edges. http://www.bridgestonetire.com/tread-and-trend/drivers-ed/tire-tread-wear-causes

i've got a 2014MY octavia estate elegance 2.0TDI and have this issue. I have to say it is driving me nuts and is very intrusive in the cabin. The car was delivered on Pirelli's which I don't believe is an issue, the rear suspension is so rock solid, its almost like the rear end is not loaded and is therefore not absorbing anything. I say solid but to give some context my fun car is a 22year old audi quattro S2 running H&R springs and bilstein dampers and that was deliberately setup to be better on fast roads/track days so is very firm. The Octavia is so much noiser and seems to absolutely hate poor or ribbed surfaces. The bootlid is indeed large but i am not convinced it is any larger than an old audi A6 I had or much bigger than the mk2 one. Somewhere there is a fundamental flaw with the backend of the mk3....more especially on the 2wd versions I think too. I ran a mk2 scout for 3 years and loved it....this one I could hand back if there isn't a way to address the issue. The car is in with the dealer today and I have asked them to investigate the noise...will report back what they say but glad to see I am not the only one with this issue.

have yet to put my box onto the scout as only picked it up yesterday but have run a Thule Pacific 600 for the last 4yrs on an A6 Avant without any issues. I think its 180cm in length and is roomy and quiet on a cruise. Its done about 6-7 trips to the alps and apart from a hint of wind noise and a small impact on the overall mpg you'd hardly know it was on the roof. Hi, Just thought I would say hello...new to the world of Skoda with a 2010/60 Octavia Scout 1.8tsi in storm blue. Collected it yesterday from Meaden's in the New Forest (friendly team and a genuinely hassle free sale) and now getting to grips with the Scout but initial impressions are really positive and loving the engine. Not new to car forums - moderate www.s2forum.com which is my true car passion - own a 1992 Audi Quattro S2 but I think the scout could well be another little hidden gem in the VAG portfolio :-) Look forward to getting to know the Briskoda community and learning!
