  1. I was hoping to get a a little advice, I've had one of those 1 din DVD head units with the motorised screen for about 5 years in my Fabia, and the screen motors packed up, so I decided to get a replacement, practically the same as I had just newer, I've tried to fit it today, and the second the wires in the connector plug made contact the fuse in the head unit blew, I've changed the loom over, and it blew again, as soon as contact is made, you cannot even get the connector fully in it happens so quick, I put my original unit back in, turns on and plays just fine, ( apart that the screen won't come out) I went back to the new unit, same again! Fuse blew the second connection was made, I've gone through 5 fuses, and every time it happens in a instant, it has to be a faulty head unit, am I right? Thanks for any help in this, Matt.
  2. Nice job, looks good to. Considered doing something like this , but I'd end up making a right mess of it.
  3. Don't mean to high jack the thread, but just a quick question along the same lines, my fabia used to emit a beep like sound, if you tried to drive off with the hand brake on, but about 6 months a go it suddenly stopped, does anyone have any ideas as to why?
  4. Christ! Horton have bumped there prices up! I had one off them about 2 years ago and I think I paid half that,
  5. No probs Prasg, thought it was worth a mention. As the garage I went to offered to change my console bushes for only £800! I think you can guess the answer I gave them,
  6. Prasg, does your son live in the West Midlands? I only ask because I had a non skoda garage here tell me the exact same thing, when I went to get a new front tire last year. they said my tire wear was down to my bushes, and they just happened to have some in stock, I went over to the mot centre my dads mate works at and he said there was absolutely nothing wrong with them!
  7. This is mine, not to everyone's liking. But I love it, something a little different.
  8. Mines just the same mids, i have to be doing 32 to 33 mph for it to be smooth in fourth so I stay in third in 30 zones, and keep it to about 28mph instead. It seems to improve the mpg to.
  9. Hi there and welcome, I was in the same position as you, I'd never thought about skoda then I had the offer of my uncles 06 fabia 1.4tdi, I wasn't that keen but my dad said I'd be a fool to pass up on it so I bought it and now I'm a total skoda nut! I love mine, it handles well, it's never failed to start, I find it very economical even though I only use shell v power diesel in it, and so far nothing has gone wrong in the 3 years I've owned it. You will find a wealth of information on here regarding the probs that can affect most Fabias , but I've never had any of them yet. I say go for it, I've never regretted it.
  10. i second that! i always only ever used shell fuelsave diesel in my humble 1.4 tdi fab,due to my dad saying it was better fuel and the fact that the shell is about 60 seconds from my front door! that was until my shell shutdown for a refurb. so i had to use tesco fuel for 5 weeks, and ive been getting only 118-120 miles off each £20 refill since, now after using shell fuelsave diesel again for 3 weeks, and flushing that crap out my engine im again getting 148-150 miles driving from £20 of fuel. which equates to about 65 miles to a tank. i wont be using supermarket crap again! also sorry to higjack a topic, but could i use the millers stuff mentioned before in my fuel to?
  11. snap! the same happened to my humble fab in jauary. some stupid woman slammed right in to my back end, almost identical damage to yours as well,, only mine was hit nearer the centre. new bumper, new boot, new boot liner, new boot lock, and a few other bits to, hope you get it sorted asap,
  12. ive already got loads of advise and help from sifting through his great forum and after seeing all your great fabias i thought it was time to share mine. its not anything fancy, not a vrs (i wish!) but its my pride and joy. ive done a few things here and there to him, and was wondering what ideas you guys had.

  17. I ordered mine from a seller on ebay from germany and it only colt me about £30 for the set of 4. and all 4 came fitted with double sided sticky. fitted them all with no metal clips in about 10 mins and left windows up for about 24 hours just as hutchy did. and there rock solid. can really recommend the seller to, as mine arrived with one rear deflector broken( where the box had been stood on by the look of it!) and he sent a new set out next day totally free.
  18. after 6 weeks I finally got my fabia back from the garage following repairs from being rear ended by some pug, and i want to carry on with the mods. i want to fit front fogs, but im wondering how dificut it is. he is a 06 plate 1.4 tdi model, any helpor advice would be gratfully recived. and as im here, how can i remove the classic badges from above my side blinkers without damaging my paintwork? again all help and advice is welcome and apreciated, thanks in advance, elathan
  19. thanks for all your advice, was a bit nervous about pulling bits off my dash. but as you said it just popped right off without any fuss, took out the switch blank and the cover off the heater controls, and had it in within minuites. thanks again for your posts.
