SOLD- Westfalia removable tow bar- fits Superb Mk 2, Scout and Octavia Mk2
Ian K replied to Ian K's topic in Parts For Sale
I've answered all the PM's. The part number of my kit is 317 102 600 001 and it shows to be suitable for the Estate and Saloon in the Westfalia catalogue here: https://www.westfali..._web_240315.pdf -
For sale collection only from Stoke-on-Trent for £120. Complete kit with full fitting instructions. Note this comes with the superior CAN bus interface for correct interaction with vehicle electronics. It will require coding with VAG COM, most independent Dealers can do this or plenty of people on Briskoda with the cable and the knowledge. fitting will take 2 to 3 hours and can easily be done with guides on here by most compentent DIYers. No cutting of the rear bumper is usually required on VRS Models. Socket is for 7 pin trailer electrics. Supplied and fitted new in Nov 2013 (at a cost of £350) and carefully removed by myself in Aug 2015. It's had an easy life as it was fitted only to carry a cycle carrier and was only probably used 10 times! comes complete with two keys, storage bag, wiring loom, instructions, ball protector etc.

Did they replace the compressor seals? They are lubricated by oil in the gas and once the gas has gone so has the oil!

Dealer had the car for two days and it's still not fixed! Car stinks of WD40! They claim the fan speeds up and down automatically even when in manual to assist with heating or cooling! I smell BS! I've tried this. On a cold morning with the engine warm if I leave the temp at 20 Degrees and the fan at speed one it's stays on one regardless of how warm the cabin is! If I ask for 26 Degrees the fan does speed up. Does this happen on any one elses?

I've owned my 2011 model VRS CR from New. In Sep 2013, I noticed that the vents were blowing cold air despite the A/C being off and the temp controls being set to 20 Degrees. Outside temp was below 10 degrees C. I don't use auto mode and normally have the fan speed set to no.3. It's been into the dealer and magically there was a software update to the temp controller to solve poor regulation. This didn't fix it. They then said they needed the car overnight to test when the engine is cold ? I've not been able to book it back in due to being too busy with work etc. I've since noticed as well as poor temp regulation the fan speed changes from 3 to 2 and from 3 to 4 without me touching the buttons when in manual! The car didn't do this from new and something has changed! Any clues? Cheers, Ian

I can strongly recommend Genesis Towing in Telford. Great service and product and proper coded electrics and much cheaper than £520!

Unlikely to buy another Skoda based on their poor service performance. Always 2-3 visits to fix any fault. In flexible, only offer fabia as a loan car. I drive an Octavia as I have a boot full of tools to carry for work which won't fit in a Fabia. Different Service reception staff every visit. Always keep you waiting for ages to finish paperwork! Keep ringing and e-mail to book car in for an MOT and it's only two years old!

Paint issue on front bumper - what to do?
Ian K replied to xman's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
My 2011, White VRS is exactly the same i.e. paint has peeled. As long as it doesn't peel to the outside, I don't care! I suspect they don't prime/prepare this area to receive paint, but it get's sprayed when the bumper does! -
This is probably way over the top: http://www.automation.siemens.com/mcms/programmable-logic-controller/en/logic-module-logo/pages/default.aspx Why make something if there are already things out there! What type (and voltage) is the motor. How many amps FLC? You could do it with timer relays too.

Continental Driving-Headlight Adjustment
Ian K replied to morganic's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Excelent guide. Just done mine in readiness for a trip to France next week. Could have done it on the ferry(only took about 5 mins). Only thing to add was that the hooks required mole grips to pull on mine and the metal tab you push down isn't very positive it's quite floppy. -
Any one noticed trip miles don't match odo miles?
Ian K replied to westfielder's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I've just measured over 465 mies. The trip computer showed 50.8 and my own calc spookily was exactly 50.8 too! -
lock rear seats from folding using VAG parts
Ian K replied to Ian K's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Thanks for the replies, I agree it's not going to make the contents of the boot 100% secure however due to the angle of the rear screen and the fact you can't get the head rests out of the way without bringing the seats forward it would be quite tricky to get items out of the boot via the parcel shelf.
