  1. As promised here is the update on my paint blisters. I started this thread back in March when I discovered the blisters and the dealer sent photos to Skoda UK. Not expecting much, as the dealer said they were stone chips, I got a bit of a shock when out of the blue, a phone call to drop the Yeti in as Skoda UK had agreed to refinish all 4 doors, new foils and rubber bumper strips etc. The diagnosis was Zinc blisters. Result or it should have been. The Skoda approved body shop is **** They are on their second attempt to refinish the doors to an acceptable standard. Having paint blisters was the better option at the moment to the **** paint job these guys turn out. Waiting to see what sort of a job they turn out next. Still love the Yeti, best car I’ve had. John
  2. Thanks for all the replies, The pictures in the link provided by BigHusky shows exactly what is happening to my doors though the blisters are not quite that big. In total I have now have 7 blisters over all 4 doors, in various stages of development Dealer has seen them and sent report in to Skoda UK, will post the outcome. The dealer said they are unusual as the stone chips I have on the rest of the car’s body panels have not gone on to develop blisters under the paint. So some thing is definitely not right. John
  3. Any one else getting blisters on doors? They are definitely not stone chips, I have stone chips on the bonnet, front wings, windscreen etc, but these are blisters or bubbles that seem to form under the paint first and then form a head. I have them on all 4 doors, above and below the side protector strip. No where else on the car. The yeti is 15 month old and the body work was perfect as it should be when I bought it new. The blisters seem to have started in the last 6 months. They are all sizes and quite difficult to see on the Cappuccino Beige unless it has just been cleaned. The colour was chosen as it hides the dirt well, the yeti is my works vehicle and it is used every day and only gets a hose off between jobs. It has done 32,000 miles. My last two works vehicles (Honda and Nissan) never had any thing like this, and I’ve never seen or heard of anything like it before. Dealer is going to have a look at it. John
  4. My yeti arrived at the dealers last Monday (31st October) and was ordered on 18th August. 170 Elegance with Rough Road Pack, Tow Bar Prep and Heated Front Screen. Not as quick a delivery as briwy’s yeti, but still very good as I was not expecting it till next February. Only problem is I have been too busy to pick it up so far. Going to take a day off next Monday and pick it up in the morning and then get tow bar fitted in afternoon. Back seats coming out and 16” Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S (G012) going on. This yeti is going to work. I hope I don’t miss my Nissan Terrano SWB too much, I won’t miss its fuel consumption, but I know there will times when I want that low ratio box back. I’ll probably have a bigger grin on my face driving it to my work sites though, and I’ll definitely get there a lot quicker.
  5. How have you managed to delay hand over till the new plate? I was told by three dealers I had to take delivery within a set period of time, 14 days I think it was, once it had been delivered to the dealer and had PDI. I asked about this as originally my order could have been ready just before the new plate in March and I would have preferred to wait the extra time for the March plate. As it is the car is going to be here very shortly so not an issue now. My wife nearly had to take delivery of her new Ford Ka two weeks before a new plate change because Ford Motors UK insisted on it. The supplying dealer persuaded Ford to back down.
  6. Yes I'm in the UK. Lancashire. A friend ordered a Yeti Greenline back in May or June from a different dealer and that is supposed to be built week 42/43. I'm wondering if my dealer had an unallocated order already in the system and the specs altered to what I wanted before it turned status 20? still can't believe it could be on the drive in 3 weeks. John
  7. Since deciding a Yeti was to be my next car, I haven’t failed to notice the long delivery times some owners have had to endure. I ordered on 18th August an Elegance 170 with heated front screen, rough road pack and factory tow bar prep. Dealer said expect 6 months wait. A couple of weeks ago I picked up some 16” wheels from the dealer in anticipation of some late winter fun. Dealer said your Yeti may be here sooner, they are coming through faster now. To day I was informed it was built and had been at the docks since the 17th awaiting the next ship. Less than two months from order to being built, is this a record!!! John

    215/65 R16 Tyres

I need a tyre which can cope with a lot of off road use throughout winter. The standard tyres should cope well enough in the summer though. Not a great choice or availability of 60 profile 4x4 tyres, but loads of 65. I’m a mole catcher and tow a 500kg trailer and quad bike to some pretty sticky locations. I’m considering a Yeti to replace my Nissan Terrano which is a fantastic off road vehicle but not very economical, 27mpg tops towing and I do 25k a year. The Nissan speedo reads 10% out, true speed by satnav 63mph, speedo says 70mph. Not clocking, but I never get done for speeding!! John
  9. Has any one experience of this tyre size fitment? Are there any clearance issues? Tyre diameter goes from approx 664mm to 686mm, an increase of 22mm. John
  10. Thanks for the replies, Seems to not be an issue at all. John
  11. Anyone know for definite whether you can use the original wheels bolts used to fit original alloy wheels to secure VAG steel wheels. Some car manufactures state that they are not interchangeable due to the differing tapers between steel and alloy wheel bolt locating holes, some say they can be used as a temporary measure. I can’t find any information on Skoda’s recommendations. Do I need to buy need to buy VAG bolts specifically for steel wheels or will the bolts holding alloy wheels on do the job correctly. John
