  1. I've had a bad experiance and have spoken to lots of people in the same boat. I'm sure there are a selection that go on forever, but I honestly believe these are the exception to the rule. Also there is how people see things. A knock over a certain bumps somebody could live with happily for years and think its ok like that. I'd go mental and replace all the parts until it was gone. So what I see as knackered could be another persons fine. But overall these cars are very unreliable and things seem to wear at alarming rates. Even silly things like console bushes, rear windows, electric flaps for the hearter etc etc
  2. look at all the new parts on your car. supsension, turbos, flywheel. All like cheese and well on their way at 50k.
  3. p.s. I know it's relative, but 86k is high miles not low. These care are not reliable at all and in my experiance knackered at about 50k. You then need to be spending loads of cash (or having a warranty) to keep it in good condition.
  4. I'd say if you could manage to find abuyer whos feeling lucky - £1500 maximum. Your best bet would be getting all the bits done, clean it up and sell it for about £3000.
  5. Thanks for all the replies. If it was bought for lets say £15,000..... How much would it realistically be worth in 4 years, 30k miles?
  6. Always tidy it up first. You can do a lot for free or next to free.
  7. Its 9 years old dont forget. A new fabia is due out soon as well. If it was mint then maybe £3500. Your description says its not mint though so honestly I'd say £3000, maybe a few hundered more depending on the buyer.
  8. That is really expensive still. Wasnt the original 13K or something silly?
  9. Hi, Given the new Fabia is nearly out, what sort of discount can you get on the VRS?
  10. Thank you DGW - your time taken to get that is BIG TIME appreciated!! If you ever suffer a crappy tickover get that cam set to 0.0 rather than -1.1
  11. Basically as above... will the right side vent from any year Fabia 1 fit and look the same? Or did they change them on the facelift in 2005 or whenever it was? Thanks
  12. Hi, Presumably this number should stay on what you physically set it. If it jumps around from 0.0 to sometimes 1.6 (or any number between) does that say something or is it normal. Thank you in advance
  13. Does anybody know what mode or map or setting the engine goes into once the coolant hits 55? Thanks
  14. Its always done it a bit. DMF is new (it was doing it before) A lot of things I'm reading/hearing suggest injector. Phoned the dealer expecting it to be about £90 £630 for ONE injector - WTF!!!!!!
  15. If anything it gets worse. For about the first 3 minutes form cold its perfect (even with AC off) then starts, then sometimes is so bad the car physically shakes.
  16. I thought the idle speed had made it better. On the way to work I was wrong, its as bad as ever :( Any other suggestions on this? Has anybody ever had the map for idle fueling changed or cant it be done?
  17. Disks are sold in singles - so 4 disks the car pads are sold in a set of either front or back - so 2 sets per car.
  18. Or Mr Hands has taken them. If you understand that then your a sick puppy!
  19. Firstly ignore the device. If you want to confirm power go find somebody who has a dynodynamics rolling road and have a run done (about £50). Secondly a whistle off throttle is not normal at all. I don't know where to start in terms of troubleshooting..... But it does need some.
  20. People like millers etc will probably make less profit a year than shell spend a week on R&D. Once you realise that I think it probably changes your opinion on these products.
  21. You know it ****es you off when your on the drive past 2am adjusting your idle. Had some strange results but dropping idle by about 40 rpm seems to have taken a bit of an edge off. So a bonus!! But still frustrating. What would you usually set timing to? Mine is at +0.5 at the moment.
  22. Mine shakes the entire car :( Checked the timing and it was a 0. Tried a few like 0.5 1.0 -0.5 and -1.0 but most made it worse. I will have a look at the idle speed, thanks for that idea!
  23. I've had a few threads about this, but have just discovered something new and it made sense to start a new one; especially for people in future finding it on a search. Car has the BLT engine and shakes/wobbles at idle really quite badly. If I turn the aircon on and then let the car idle its about 90% better. What does that mean? Previously I thought the aircon didnt do anything, and it doesnt if you turn it on as its shaking. But today I found if you have the AC on all the time it virtually fixes the problem! Thanks for any advice in advance because this is what people were asking about before.
