  1. Sorry, it's the 2006 ambiente1.9tdi pd8v bxe engine number. Hope that helps... Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk
  2. Hi all, well cleaning of my egr hasn't helped the problem of my warning light and within a few miles of having it back it flashed on again. No performance drop or limp mode, just the light on. My mechanic seems to think most issues are caused by the electrics going wrong rather than a mechanical problem. I am now looking at blanking it off and getting it mapped out. I have seen Darkside blanking off kit including a whole new valve and gaskets. My question is this, there are also blanking off plates for a third the price and my mechanic thinks that he can install one of those and use the original valve that he cleaned out. What is the difference to it? Some blanking out plates have a hole in them too... What are the differences in design and what is the best option. Thanks Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk
  3. No I only filled the tank 3/4 full. I've driven 300 miles fine, left it standing for two days and come to it this morning showing this warning light :-( Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk
  4. Please help. This has just come on today. It doesn't go out as usual after starting up car. No noticeable loss in performance or power loss etc. I have a 500 mile drive in next few days and am now worrying. I will try to get it looked at but is there any damage I could do by driving it in the meantime. There is a local Skoda garage nearby I could take it to for a look or is it something my normal mechanic could sort (or another local garage once I get to my parents house) thanks... 5. Hi. I have two things I want to do. Firstly I want to turn off the two clicks to open all doors. I believe it can only be done in a skoda garage or someone with a computer? Could anyone help?? Secondly I have a faulty rear parking sensor. I read a post explaining they can be replaced without the need to take the bumper off if you remove the black bumper trays three screws... Anyone know where exactly these are? Hope someone can help :-)
  6. hi, no i heard there was something like this on here but havent found it as yet... the only link i have found wont open for me?!? thanks
  7. Hi. I am just wanting to turn off the double click door open facility but do not have the Maxidot in my Octavia Ambiente. Is there anyone nearby who could help me out with a VCDS system?? Otherwise its a trip to the garage :-) thanks Ewan
  8. I just tried the click test because mine are playing up and all 4 do appear to be clikcing...one of them may not be clicking quite as fast as the others but that might just be my immagination?! what i am thinking of doing is removing the bumper and removing one sensor at a time from the bumper before putting car in reverse and testing the 3 remaining to see if one is faulty...does anyone know if that will/should that work? atb
  9. hi...sorry didnt realise i had had any responses..lol. it is the factory fitted sensors. i thought intially it was a layer of ice because it was cold...i think i had a few days where it didnt sound but then i cleaned the car with the new powerwasher. since then again it is constant, as soon as you start to move backwards and the dashboard diagram inside seems to show an object immediately behind so the beeping is constant and furious. i will try again tomorrow to give them a good clean but am wondering if it could be water somewhere causing a short or something? atb
  10. Anyone had their reversing alarm come on for no particular reason. Dont know if it could be ice or anything like that but in the past 24 hours the alarm sounds when you put it in reverse all the time. Nothing has changed with the car and all appears ok underneath [wondering if i had knocked something down/out etc, but nothing obvious. It does need a good clean as well but does anyone else know of this issue or had simialr? atb
  11. right...just to bring up to date... i got my car checked and although no one could find any problem cauing the intermittent grinding/squealing noise the from discs were getting thin and so i got them replaced.... took the car away with us on a 700 mile trip and no further noise. got home and took it out to a local farm last weekend, got back onto the road and suddenly the same noise was back.... think this time it was passenger side front [although it was hard to say exactly], i have driven it about since and the noise has reduced although still a slight/quieter gronding can be just heard occasionally. does this sound again like a stone behind the brake dust cover?? dont think it is worth me taking it into the garage again as they thought the noise would be a stone, but could not find anything anyway.... if it continues past the end of the week i will get it checked again, it is never nice hearing a strange noise and puts me on edge slightly...especially as i am now listening out for the noise etc... anyone had simialr? atb
  12. Just wondering if anyone can help me out with this. Car has been great so far...just got into it and out of the blue there is a grinding/squealing coming from the front drivers wheel area. could be wheel or axle as it seems to have that regular sound to it when accelerating. have checked the wheels/brakes and everything is solidly attached so it isnt something lose... the car has only done a few hundred miles since its mot and the bearings were fine then. i have read somewhere that it could be a stone behind the dust cover??? whereabouts is this, how do i check it...that is the kind of sound i imagined...it was loud enough to get stares from pedestrians as we were driving. this may all be pie in the sky as during the 500 yard trip to the destination we had the noise, as i turned round it continued but after stopping for a second time to double check the wheels i didnt hear the noise again for the whole trip home. i am hoping it was a stone that has now gone but i would rather check everything to find out for myself....i am off on a 20 mile journey tomorrow morning so may have a better idea then?? will make sure i take my breakdown cover stuff... anyone any simialr experience or can tell me how to check the dust covers? atb Forgot to add that the car is parked on our stone chipped front drive ....
  13. Many thanks for these responses....i will top up the battery tomorrow and when i am allowed to drive i will see if that helps. will keep topping up the battery once every week till then to make sure it doesnt drop too low again. atb
  14. hi, i hope this is in the right place!!! having recently had an operation on my arm the car has not been driven in 6 weeks, and has been parked on my drive. i checked the car yesterday and the battery was low so it would not turn the engine over. i charged it up today and it has reached a stage where the charger is still saying 3/4 charged but the car starts now without a problem. my issue is that now there is a yellow steering wheel symbol that has appeared on the rev counter that i have never seen before. the car has less than average mileage and was well maintained [my parents upgraded and i bought this off them]. do i need to worry? is this something that a quick drive will sort out or could it be related to the battery not being 100% fully charged? i am not yet able to drive so will top up the battery anyway in the next day or so... any ideas please... atb [p.s. this was deffo not there while i was driving this car up till 6 weeks ago]
