I went to have a chat with my dealer about this last week. He was a) very ****ed off with VAG, looking forward to all the cash VAG are going to be paying his service engineers, and c) very clear with me that it wasn't a compulsory item - if I don't want it done, that's my call.

I just had a Rapid for 10 days as a courtesy car - and what a hateful vehicle it was. DSG doesn't work with a car that light - really snatchy in traffic. I genuinely thought the front springs were broken they were that harsh. Not nice and I was very pleased to get my superb back.

I use tyreleader as well - good service and great prices - a set of 4 16" steel wheels and Nokian WR D3 for just over £300 delivered isn't bad.

It's well worth a check with the dealers just now on a price for the new old version Superb that's in transit - the last of the stock. Put to this way, I was in the market for a 10k miles 2yr old elegance estate. I ended up getting a new one for the same price as my target car ... Nin
