  1. 4 rims, could do with refurb or run as is if not fussy. I'll post pics tomorrow. Pickup from rhyl or arrange your own courier. offers on £200.
  2. Cheers will check em out. What tyres on on her? Any service or part due for replacement? Timing chain done? Etc
  3. Can i Have a few full car shots. Looking at *weekend* cars... and yes i have permission from the missus.... ;-)
  4. Yo, I'm down the road dude, pm me and ill give you my mob number, got vcds, will sort you out
  5. The having to pay the man hours to look at the car even on warranty issues is quite normal. I have had the same, and always not paid the labour being due to whatever being covered under warranty so IMO it's not too much to worry about...
  6. i've got a 55/40 h & r cup kit and whiteline ARBs on mine. i like it. you should have 225 width tyres on not 245, that may be effecting your ride quality as will the top mounts, bushes and quality of the lowering kit that has been used. If you want a set of standard 1.9 tdi estate suspension then i have a set, you can PM me for details.
  7. worn dogbone (transmission) mount?I recently had excess vibration from an aftermarket dogbone bush, so going back to standard item. Does the amount of vibration vary with engine load? Does the car shudder at pull off. not vibration but shudder? That is an idication the DMF is faulty, easy to check with a small test drive and there is an inspection hole to check DMF part number, or at least there was on an older PD140 based car I used to have.
  8. Just buy a Bolero stereo off here for around £150 and use the SD card slot. Or buy a Columbus if you want nav...
  9. I'll have a set for sale refurbed soon, away being done now.
  10. Anyone know is the S3 310mm rears are just an easy bolt on? I assume caliper needs changing? What about hub, etc?
  11. Interersting, Did you make some caliper brackets up to suit and use OEM discs? And just change the rear calipers and discs? Were any other parts used? And if you don't mind sharing the cost...
  12. Right, calm down you lot. It doesn't overly matter why, or who's driving method is "right". This thread is for info on improving braking, not the old left vs right argument. Tyres make a good difference to braking. A good point. Upgrading to VRS brakes suffices for most people also. So that's the 312mm disc, with what size piston caliper? Have people upgraded rears here? Specifically talking estates, as that's what I have. Anyone done anything with other VAG group parts? Other than the S3/R32 brake setup which many regard as a bit heavy with regards to higher weight vs brake improvement.
  13. And yes, as philbes said, tyres make a helluva difference. I went for Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2s. Good tyres. Had the original F1s years ago, and liked them....
  14. Personally speaking, I'm not a fast driver as most of the time my kids are in the car... But when I'm on my own I do enjoy a drive. My estate is already on H&R cup suspension, Whiteline ARBs, TDR pro-race 1.2s, and I'll shortly fit Superpro bushes to the rear, having already done the front. Before any power modifications, and just because I enjoy modifying my car, I want to do the brakes. Everybody does the usual Porsche 4 pot conversion, not saying it's not a great upgrade, but I would like doing something a little different. The 6 pots will look great behind my wheels, but just doing that the brakes would obviously be completely front biased. To even it out I thought something like the larger VW caddy rear caliper and a standard S3 disc, if that combo even works of course. I read it somewhere, maybe on Darkside Developments site, but can't seem to find it now... And then I will think about more power, and possibly changing to a stronger and longer ratio box, LSD, etc...
  15. So for anyone wanting to improve braking on the Mk2 Octavia, thought I would do a bit of research. Personally I was thinking of: http://www.awesomegti.com/car/skoda/octavia2/skoda-octavia-ii-front-312x25-tarox-big-brake-kit on the front and a caddy rear caliper (bigger piston than S3 standard rear, I read somewhere fits with easy modification...) and S3 rear disc. I assume this uses the standard handbrake setup? Therefore minimal parts buying cost. How would that fair with regards to brake bias versus standard....?
  16. Also the instrument panel averages temperature, so your engine may be 80 deg or 110 deg but will still show 90 all day long.... FYI, if you need a user with VCDS check out the VCDS map in that forum. There will be a user closer to you.
  17. sounds like the ac fan cooling the ac radiator then..... if they were both blowing full speed, and staying on for a short while after shutdown then i would say it would be a failed fan controller.... a quick scan with VCDS will show error codes if there are any.... I'm in n. wales if you're nearby.
  18. Look on the VCDS map for someone local that can swap the necessary coding for the country swap as many components are the same. Excluding the lights naturally unless there xenon. Sent from my RM-892_eu_euro1_274 using Tapatalk
  19. Indeed fabia scout and change the wheels for a set of winters for the lanes. If theyre anything like where i used to live... Sent from my RM-892_eu_euro1_274 using Tapatalk
  20. Yup sounds like intermittent wiring issue then, trace the wires back as far as you can. There was a thread on here with the correct resistances that should be obtained on resistance checking the maf sensor. But anyone with VCDS and a bit of time can log the data see if it is plausible.
  21. I would just replace it. Bolero is good, as mentioned above. If you just want to replace I'll be listing one for sale soon along with other gubbins.
